    About this Episode

Welcome to the first episode of Culturemaking, a conversation series dedicated to exploring the intersection of creativity, entrepreneurship and humanity with designer and entrepreneur Houston White in collaboration with brand strategist and writer Casie Cook.

We wanted to kick the whole thing off by hearing from Houston about the atmosphere that started it all for him: The Barbershop. As many of you know, Houston opened a shop in North Minneapolis in 2007 and in the years since it has become an intercultural mecca for the community and an incubation space for his many ventures. In this conversation we go deep into the real meaning of that space and how it changed the trajectory of Houston’s life and continues to impact so many others.

We talk about the economic value of investing in community, we talk about the real meaning of legacy, and we talk about why DEI conversations will soon turn into conversations focused on inclusive innovation. Because inviting everybody to the table and doing good for all is good for business.
