    About this Episode

With The Right Metadata, All Things Are Possible

What is metadata and it’s role in managing project information effectively? How can metadata reduce rework and litigation on projects? Join Joe Giegerich, CEO and founder of ProjectReady, and Shaili Modi-Oza, head of product development, as they discuss the importance of using metadata on a project. Metadata helps users categorize and classify project information. It can be used to manage project-level data as well as individual documents,. Proper metadata usage is essential for the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry and project owners.

This conversation highlights the challenges of working with multiple systems and data silos in the AEC industry. The duo goes on to emphasize the need for a scalable taxonomy and consistent metadata as a means to connect and manage project information.

What You’ll Learn About Metadata On This Episode:

    • The benefits of metadata, such as improved searchability, consistent classification, and reporting.
    • How implementing a coherent metadata structure enables better project information management, reduces risk, and increases efficiency.
    • What you’ll gain with a holistic view of projects across different systems and organizations.

What Is Program Management In The AEC & Why You Should Care

We are starting to hear a lot of talk about program management in the AEC industry and among project owners. But what is it and why should you care?

The simple explaination is that program management is the management, coordination, and integration of multiple, concurrent projects, which is a regular need and challenge for many AECO organizations. Being able to quickly view and access projects, platforms, content and data in a program is essential to ensure individual projects work in synergy, avoiding conflicts and optimizing resources for maximum efficiency. But, as with most concepts, the definition goes much deeper and applies to many other facets of project information management.

ProjectReady CEO Joe Giegerich, Head of Development, Shaili Modi-Oza, and industry thoughtleaders Salla Eckhardt and Jeff Walter discuss program management as it relates to collaboration on information and data and discuss how to bring order to the complex nature managing large, complex projects.

    Listeners will learn more about:

    • Data unification and management
    • Enhanced collaboration
    • Risk management
    • Streamlined processes
    • The importance of remaining flexible.

    Little Things, Big Results

    Little Things, Big Results

Stop Losing Time & Money To Trivial Tasks

On any given AECO project there are numerous inconspicuous tasks that may appear trivial at first but are actually result in HUGE drains on productivity and revenue. Through our collaboration with clients, we've identified various instances of these seemingly minor tasks that, when automated or streamlined, yield tangible and quantifiable savings. In the landscape of AEC projects, where profit often hinges on margins, addressing these operational inefficiencies can significantly enhance an organization's overall productivity.

Often-overlooked "little things" in project information management exert a profound influence on efficiency and the bottom line. During this episode of the ProjectReady Podcast, we discuss some of the ways these "insignificant tasks," when multiplied across various projects and employees, significantly hinder an organization's operational efficiency.

This discussion explores practical examples of "little things," including: having to log in and out of various systems and projects, inefficient email management, managing security updates, setting up platforms, metadata tagging for easier search, and more.

Fortunately, because we prefer to offer solutions rather than complaints, Joe Giegerich and Shaili Modi-Oza concludes the discussion by identifying innovative solutions that are already available to address these major time sucks.

    Key Takeaways

    1. How to identify operational inefficiencies on AECO pojects

    1. How to deploy automation to address efficiency challenges

    1. How to determine quantifiable returns on investment when attempting to implement change

Navigating Challenges For AEC Project Owners

Discussing The Need For Better Construction Project Information Management Among Project Owners

As the Owner of a construction project, you are responsible for paying the bills and taking on the risk associated with the projects you commission. So why does it seem like you have the least amount of visibility and control of the content and services you’ve paid for?

At each phase of a construction project’s lifecycle, your project team is producing volumes of content and with regulations such as ISO 19650, it’s your responsibility to have control of that content and how it comes together.

On this episode of the ProjectReady podcast, we’ll navigate the different challenges that owners face in handling project information and discuss different strategies and approaches that can be taken to solve them and get the visibility and control they need on their projects with today’s technology.

Digital consulting lead and thought leader Jeff Walter and vice president of innovation at OAC Services Salla Eckhardt, join ProjectReady CEO Joe Giegerich and head of development Shaili Modi Oza for this high-level discussion. Listen now to better understand the need for better construction project information management among project owners throughout the AECO industry.

What you’ll learn from this podcast:

    • The need for Owners in the AEC industry to more actively participate in data strategies and plans to protect their interests.

    • The importance of data ownership and transparency, especially in cases where there are multiple financial stakeholders involved. This includes the need to manage and track data authorship, data management, and data ownership to ensure trust and accountability.

    • The challenges of data governance, including the absence of a standardized approach, issues with data quality and format, and the need for clear data standards and regulations to prevent data mismanagement and ensure data is used effectively.

    • The challenge and importance of adopting international and national data standards (i.e. – ISO 19650) to facilitate flexibility for end-users and avoid being locked into legacy systems.

    • The need for integration, clarity, and standardization to improve efficiency and accountability.

    • Strategies to solve these Owner challenges including Centralization of Data, Interoperability, Data Governance, and use of an Integrated Data Environment.

The built world continues to see the rise of modular construction. Modular is the new norm in the modern world, from construction to object oriented programing.  And within an industry whose enterprise runs so many disparate systems, a modular view of enterprise applications means a scalable architecture that keeps process in place as it relates to all that information that needs to come together to be managed.

On this episode of the ProjectReady Podcast, ProjectReady CEO, Joe Giegerich, Head of Product Development, Shaili Modi Oza, Construction Innovation Agent at AE Partners, Aarni Heiskanen, and Senior Vice President at OAC Services, Salla Eckhardt discuss how viewing Enterprise platforms such as accounting systems, CRM and CDE’s as modules in a projects tech stack, drives the development of an integrated data environment by driving the same processes and project information management regardless of any single underlying system.

During This Episode Listeners Will Learn:

    • What is the modular approach as it relates to enterprise technology for the AECO
    • How to apply modular principles to enteprise technology
    • The benefts of a modular approach and digitalization
