    About this Episode

Hey there Spoiler Show fans, this week we turned the tables on hometown heroes The Movie Jerks by having them on our show this time! J.P. Fournier and Shawn Gramiak (who appeared via satellite) sat down to talk about how their podcast came about, movies they actually did like watching for a change, and what is it about some films that really get under your skin. In our SELL ME ON IT segment, we feature two wildly different podcasts, a book on horror movies, and more!

TSS 40 - Star Trek Into Darkness and Seijun Suzuki with Brendan Brown!
Hey there, Spoiler Show fans, this week I talked to film buff and general Renaissance Man Brendan Brown about the new film Star Trek Into Darkness. We both had some issues with the film, which provided a great jumping off point for discussion about what everyday life would be like in the Federation, the lackluster roles for women in the new series and more. We also spoil the new movie quite heavily, so be warned. In the second segment, we talked about our upcoming project at Metro Cinema at the Garneau Theatre, Shots to Kill! The Sixties Cinema of Seijun Suzuki. We`re both really excited to let you know about the new film series, which can be found online at http://suzuki.heliotropia.net/. The excellent trailer Brendan`s gotten together can be found at http://vimeo.com/67429851. There were a few technical difficulties in getting this episode together, so please bear with us. Thanks for listening!

Hey everyone, this week I was joined by local filmmaker Simon Glassman, who is the man behind the puppets at FELT UP! The show is a way for Edmontonians to get strange, awkward and hilarious true stories off their chest by means of reenacting them with puppetry. It's a pretty great show, which you can check out online at http://www.bite.ca/show/felt-up/.

Hey there, Matt here with a special solo report. This week, I talked to Tim Rutherford, Cody Kennedy and Josh Lenner, the brains (and bodies) behind the upcoming film The Last Video Store, which is currently competing in a funding contest called CineCoup. The story takes place at our old friend Kevin Martin's video store, The Lobby, so he pops in to speak as well. Learn the influences that inspired this '80s homage film, as well as some of the trials and tribulations that come from shooting a horror film in Edmonton!

TSS 36 - Cuba with Mark Hayes
Hey there Spoiler Show fans, this week marked the return of Mark Hayes to the program, as he discussed adventures he's gotten up to in Cuba on behalf of Solidarity Rock! Solidarity Rock is an organization that helps Cuban citizens get ahold of musical instruments and other supplies that are almost impossible to find in the isolated country. Great stuff! Just a reminder that the Spoiler Show Book Club episode is going to be a little delayed, so if you'd like, keep pushing on ahead through Issac Asimov's FOUNDATION.

To talk about this subject, we brought in two members of the Black community, actor and media mogul Jesse Lipscombe and man of the world Sekou Boisclair, to talk about their experience with the film, and how it reflects reality.
