US political leaders reached a deal over the weekend to avoid a debt crisis, but the agreement now faces its first major test in Congress. Meanwhile, tensions continue to escalate in Eastern Europe as Russia launched another assault on Kyiv, Ukraine's capital, and Moscow was hit by a drone strike. Elsewhere, the trial over the 2018 synagogue massacre in Pittsburgh, USA, is underway, and Uganda has imposed the death penalty for some same-sex activities, sparking concerns about potential ripple effects. The debt ceiling deal, which includes spending cuts and the approval of a controversial natural gas pipeline, must be approved by the House Rules Committee today to prevent a government shutdown by next Monday. In Russia, at least one person was killed and four were wounded in Kyiv's third air attack in 24 hours. In Moscow, around 25 drones were reportedly involved in a strike that damaged two residential buildings but caused no serious injuries. The trial for the Pittsburgh synagogue massacre, which left 11 people dead and 2 injured, is expected to last at least 3 weeks. Uganda's new anti-LGBTQ legislation, which includes the death penalty for some same-sex activities, is considered some of the most extreme anti-homosexuality legislation in the world.

There are significant issues affecting queer individuals across the African continent, as Uganda enforces a law against LGBTQ+ rights, which is part of a larger crackdown. Meanwhile, in sports news, the Miami Heat secured their spot in the NBA finals, marking their third win in the series against the Boston Celtics. The Heat will face the Denver Nuggets, who swept the Lakers in the Western Conference finals and are favored to win. Elsewhere, a massive log jam in northwest Canada, nearly as big as Manhattan, is storing millions of tons of carbon that could be released into the atmosphere due to climate change. Lastly, excessive caffeine intake can lead to sleep deprivation, disrupting the body's natural circadian rhythm and creating a vicious cycle. It's essential to limit caffeine intake and maintain a regular sleep schedule to avoid sleep deficits.
