    Replay: Steps to Becoming Fearless

    Replay: Steps to Becoming Fearless

    Recorded  Dec 11, 2022

    Questions/Topics:

"My definition of fearlessness is not letting fear stand in the way of my destiny!" Our past guest,  Dr. Stephanie Brown, discusses with us the 9 Steps to Becoming Fearless. Those steps are: Acknowledge your fear, Confront it, Use positive self talk, Get comfortable with being uncomfortable, Make being brave a habit, Practice mindfulness, Find a mentor, Embrace failure, and Don't aim for perfection.  You are more powerful than your fear Sis! Join us as we talk about it!

    Guest notes:
Dr. Brown is an ICF credentialed professional certified coach . She specializes in working with professional women who desire to show up as their best selves and are motivated to overcome whatever is holding them back in reaching their professional and personal goals.  Dr. Brown is recognized as a Top 1% Life Coach by Yahoo finance.  Stephanie’s coaching philosophy is based on the knowledge that challenging one’s thoughts and beliefs is key to shifting our energy which allows us to move forward with actions that lead to the joy and success that we desire. Her signature coaching membership is called Queens Realign Coaching and is a space for Black professional women to receive coaching, accountability in a supportive group as they learn techniques and tools to help them achieve their goals.

    Detailed notes:

Acknowledge fear: Go deeper.  This means looking at fears we don't necessarily know we have - like fear of disappointing our parents or being judged. The fears we don't want to acknowledge keep us stuck. Action: Confront it. Say to fear: I know you are here, I know you are trying to protect me but I don't need you any more. You only have the power I give you so I'm taking away your power.

Use positive self talk: Use affirmations. Using positive words and thoughts you tend to see better outcomes.

Get comfortable with being uncomfortable: Growth is often outside of our comfort zone. Embrace opportunities to become uncomfortable. Your body responds the same way whether you are excited or afraid so just tell yourself to process these feelings as excitement instead of fear.

Make being brave a habit: Practicing anything makes you better at it. Keep getting better. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Practice mindfulness: Mindful activities like meditation, journaling, and yoga help you be present with your authentic self which the place where you actually deal with the fear.

Find a mentor: Find someone who is fearless in the way you want to be fearless and learn from them.

Embrace failure: Erase the shame that is associated with failure and look at it more objectively. Failure is part of your path to success. It's another informative step in your progression towards the goal. It represents an opportunity for learning that takes you closer to your destination.

Don't aim for perfection: People tend not to try if they don't think they will do something perfectly, Don't get caught up in the paralysis of analysis.
