Summer can be more enjoyable and affordable with IKEA's range of outdoor furniture and accessories. Meanwhile, investing in herbs for wellness, such as slippery elm bark and ginger root, can promote digestive health. Additionally, dedicating time to personal growth and stepping out of comfort zones, as demonstrated by Yes Theory, can lead to significant personal growth and impact. Furthermore, partnering with a company like UKG, which prioritizes creating a great work environment, can contribute to overall well-being and success in the workplace.

    • Embracing small fears and challengesAttempting new things, even if unsuccessful, leads to personal growth and the courage to tackle bigger fears.

Overcoming small fears and challenges, even if they seem insignificant, can lead to greater freedom and the ability to tackle bigger fears. The process of attempting new things, whether successful or not, holds value and can lead to personal growth. As John Wooden once said, "Success is never final, failure is never fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts." The speakers shared their experiences of taking on seemingly impossible challenges, such as attempting to join a professional soccer team or bungee jumping with Will Smith, and how these experiences led to a belief in the impossible and a desire to continue pushing boundaries. The beauty lies in the attempt, and the value comes from the learning and growth that occurs along the way.

    • The power of virality and the importance of creating meaningful contentVirality can challenge creators and push them to improve, while creating content with impact can resonate with a large audience.

Creating content and seeing it resonate with a large audience can be a fulfilling and motivating experience. This was the case for the creators of Project 30 and Yes Theory, who experienced virality for the first time with a soccer-related video featuring John Terry and Nemanja Matic. This moment challenged their expectations and pushed them to become better filmmakers and creators. The power of the Internet to connect people and spread content was a valuable lesson they learned early on in their journey. Additionally, they believed in creating content with meaning and impact, rather than just for views or entertainment. Before starting Project 30 and Yes Theory, the creators had a history of seeking adventure and pushing themselves out of their comfort zones, even when met with resistance from friends. This mindset carried over into their content creation and helped them stand out from others in the space.

    • Inspiring figures and personal experiences fuel entrepreneurshipSeek out like-minded individuals, be open to new experiences, and let inspiring figures motivate you to pursue your entrepreneurial goals

Personal experiences and encounters with inspiring figures can significantly influence one's desire to start a business and pursue entrepreneurship. The speaker was inspired by Richard Branson's autobiography and his own family's entrepreneurial background. He became obsessed with starting a company and met a like-minded individual who shared the same obsession. This connection led to the formation of a successful clothing business. The speaker emphasizes the importance of seeking out individuals who share your passion and are willing to grind towards their goals, no matter the sacrifices. Additionally, the speaker's experience of transcending reality through travel and new experiences, as mentioned in his entrepreneurship class, highlights the importance of stepping out of one's comfort zone and being open to new experiences in the entrepreneurial journey.

    • The value of new experiencesStepping out of comfort zone can lead to personal growth and unexpected opportunities. Be open to new experiences and embrace curiosity.

Stepping out of your comfort zone can lead to unexpected and valuable experiences. The speaker shared how attending a class and being exposed to new ideas led her to seek out new experiences and ultimately start a YouTube channel. She emphasized the importance of being open to new experiences and how they can expand your horizons and lead to personal growth. The speaker also highlighted the inspiration she gained from a TV show and how it influenced her to embark on a new project. Overall, the discussion underscores the value of being curious and open to new experiences, as they can lead to unexpected and positive outcomes.

    • Asking for what you want leads to growth and connectionAsking for what you want, whether in personal or professional context, leads to empathy, stronger relationships, and personal development. Writing down goals and sharing them with an accountability buddy can help make them a reality.

Asking for what you want, whether it's in a professional or personal context, is a crucial step towards growth and connection. People often avoid asking due to fear of rejection or perceived weakness, but the benefits of overcoming this fear can lead to empathy, stronger relationships, and personal development. Asking also attracts open-minded and empathetic individuals, and writing down your goals and sharing them with an accountability buddy can help make them a reality. In the words of Ben Nimpton, "You're drastically more likely to actually make something happen if you write it down." So, don't be afraid to ask for what you want, invest in the relationship or opportunity, and watch as growth and connections blossom.

    • Asking for what you want: A mindset and energy investmentConfidently ask for what you want with preparation and positive attitude, learn from rejections, and value genuine enthusiasm for lasting connections.

Asking for what you want, whether it's in a personal relationship or in creating content, requires investment and the right energy. The speakers shared their experiences of asking people to join them on adventures and how the outcome depended on their mindset and the energy they projected. They emphasized the importance of not taking rejections personally and learning from them. The speakers also highlighted the value of genuine enthusiasm and spontaneity in the people they met and how it led to positive surprises and lasting connections. In essence, asking for what you want requires confidence, preparation, and a positive attitude, and the rewards can be significant.

Herbs, like Ashwagandha, can also support mental and physical well-being. Moreover, overcoming fears and challenges, such as the unexpected experiences during the Wim Hof Iceman documentary, can lead to personal growth and new opportunities. Remember, every yes comes after numerous no's, so persistence and resilience are essential.

    • Overcoming Perceived LimitsBelieving in your ability to push beyond perceived limits can lead to personal growth and achievement of the impossible.

Our perception of our limits can hold us back from achieving what we believe is impossible. The speaker shared his experience of pushing beyond his perceived physical and mental limits during an ice bath challenge, which required him to focus solely on the power of his mind to endure the extreme cold. He also discovered that he had set mental limitations that were unnecessarily holding him back from challenges. After the experience, he gained a new level of self-respect and a more open perspective towards challenges. This story serves as an inspiration for normal people trying to do extraordinary things, reminding us that we all have the potential to push beyond our perceived limits.

    • The power of community in achieving extraordinary featsSurrounding yourself with supportive people and communities can help you accomplish seemingly insurmountable goals. The reward is in the commitment and practice, not just the end result.

Surrounding yourself with supportive people and communities can help you achieve extraordinary feats that you once thought were impossible. The speaker's personal experience of training for and completing an Ironman Triathlon, with the encouragement and guidance of experts and peers, underscores this idea. The community aspect is crucial, as it significantly increases the chances of success, especially when attempting daunting challenges. The speaker emphasizes that the reward is in the practice and the commitment required, rather than just the end result. This mindset, along with the support of a community, can lead to personal growth and the accomplishment of seemingly insurmountable goals.

    • Dedicating miles to loved ones during a triathlonImagining loved ones during a challenging race can provide the motivation to push through discomfort and achieve goals.

During a triathlon race, when the speaker's body shut down and she felt like giving up, she found the strength to continue by dedicating each mile to someone she loved and imagining them running by her side. This act of focusing on her community and loved ones helped her speed up and finish the race in under 12 hours, a goal she had set for herself. The experience of pushing through discomfort and proving herself wrong transformed her identity and opened up new possibilities in her life. The speaker's story illustrates the power of seeking discomfort and facing challenges, as it leads to personal growth and the realization of dreams.

    • Supportive Challenges vs Peer PressureIn a supportive community, challenges are seen as opportunities for growth and rooted in love and belief in the person's ability to benefit. Peer pressure, on the other hand, comes from a place of humiliation or desire for views.

The difference between a real discomfort challenge and peer pressure lies in the intention behind it. In a supportive community, challenges are seen as opportunities for growth and are rooted in a belief that the person involved will benefit from the experience. This contrasts with peer pressure, which can come from a place of humiliation or a desire for views. The intention behind the challenge is crucial, and experiences that put individuals in uncomfortable situations should always come from a place of love and support. Examples given included sending friends on long bus rides and sending someone to a foreign country blindfolded, which resulted in unexpected bonding experiences and personal growth. The key is to approach challenges with a positive mindset and a belief that the experience will ultimately lead to something valuable.

    • Embracing discomfort leads to personal growth and unexpected connectionsTravel experiences, even challenging ones, can teach us valuable lessons and help us discover inner resilience. Approaching uncomfortable situations with love and support leads to transformative experiences and deeper self-understanding.

Travel experiences, even the most challenging ones, can lead to profound personal growth and unexpected connections. When we're put in uncomfortable situations, it's essential to approach them with love and support, rather than competition or comparison. As the story of the friends stranded in a foreign country illustrates, these experiences can teach us valuable lessons and help us discover our inner resilience. The monk's tale of a long train journey in India further emphasizes this idea, as he learned to find peace and meditate amidst chaos, rather than waiting for ideal conditions. Overall, these stories remind us that embracing discomfort and uncertainty can lead to transformative experiences and deeper self-understanding.

    • Overcoming physical and mental challenges in meditationMeditation requires focus and mental clarity, which can be achieved by overcoming both physical and mental challenges. In traditional practices, this involved sitting for long hours and dealing with external elements, while in modern life, it may involve managing distractions and maintaining focus in a busy world.

Meditation and spiritual practices involve overcoming both physical and mental challenges. During meditation, one may initially face physical discomforts such as sitting for long hours or dealing with external elements like heat or mosquitoes. However, as one delves deeper, mental challenges arise, including self-doubt, constant mental noise, and ego. Fasting and exposure to extreme temperatures were also part of these practices, providing unique challenges and experiences. Despite the different challenges in various environments, the mindset required to focus and not get distracted remains the same. Now, in modern life, the challenges may be different, but the need to sharpen that focus and mental clarity remains essential. The mental and subtle challenges may be less tangible, but they are still present and can be thrived upon.

    • Finding growth through challenging experiencesEmbrace discomfort, practice self-care, challenge limiting beliefs, and find community for personal growth.

Challenging experiences, whether it's meditation with monks or facing personal struggles like depression and anxiety, can lead to growth and appreciation for life. The speakers shared their experiences and how they've learned to embrace discomfort and find community to help them overcome their challenges. They emphasized the importance of self-care practices like meditation, exercise, and therapy, as well as the power of intentionality and challenging limiting beliefs. The speakers also highlighted the impact of their work on others, as they've helped people break free from depression and anxiety through their content and community. Overall, the discussion emphasized the transformative power of facing challenges and finding support along the way.

    • Embrace intentional habits and mindset shifts for less anxiety and greater fulfillmentIntentional habits and a mindset shift can help reduce anxiety and bring greater fulfillment. Seek discomfort, choose love over fear, and say yes to small things for positive change.

We all experience anxiety, but with intentional habits and a mindset shift, we can reduce its impact and find greater fulfillment and calm in our daily lives. Content creators are winging it like everyone else, but the internet can be both messy and beautiful, and seeking discomfort doesn't mean recklessness. Theory at its core helps people become free and connected, and humans' ability to overcome challenges and redefine themselves impresses us most. Saying yes to small things like cold showers and journaling can change your life, and choosing love over fear means being kind when it isn't convenient. A random act of kindness on a weekly basis could be a law for the world, and the biggest lesson learned in the last 12 months is that we have control over our perspective, and life doesn't happen to us, but rather, we have the power to choose how we respond to it.

    • Embrace the ease and comfort in relationshipsSeek relationships that feel easy and comfortable for deeper connections and personal growth. Listen to the Yes Theory podcast for inspiring conversations and guidance on personal growth.

The best relationships, whether they're new friendships or romantic relationships, should feel easy and comfortable. This perspective, as shared by Thomas from the YouTube channel Yes Theory, challenges the common misconception that relationships need to be difficult or filled with romantic struggles. Instead, the most rewarding relationships are those where you feel the most at ease with the person. This ease and comfort allows for deeper connections and personal growth. Thomas and his team at Yes Theory are taking their message of self-improvement and discomfort to the next level with their upcoming podcast. The Yes Theory podcast will provide listeners with an opportunity to dive deep into the experiences and lessons learned from the most impactful people they've met. By sharing these conversations, they hope to inspire and guide listeners in their own personal growth journeys. The podcast, which is launching in early April, is a must-listen for anyone seeking to improve themselves and deepen their connections with others. In summary, the key takeaway is to embrace the ease and comfort in relationships and to be open to new experiences and learning opportunities. Whether through personal connections or through the guidance of others, the pursuit of growth and self-improvement is a lifelong journey.

Do You Compare Yourself or Your Relationship to Others? 5 Surprising Ways to Stop Letting Comparison Steal Your Happiness

Do You Compare Yourself or Your Relationship to Others? 5 Surprising Ways to Stop Letting Comparison Steal Your Happiness

Do you compare your relationship to others?

How can you identify and manage your triggers for comparison?

Today, Jay introduces the concept of social comparison theory, explaining the differences between upward - where we compare ourselves to those we perceive as better off, can lead to feelings of inadequacy if done with envy rather than a mindset of learning, and downward comparisons which involves comparing ourselves to those worse off, which can provide a temporary boost in self-esteem but is ultimately unproductive and unkind.

He shares practical strategies for reducing comparison, such as being mindful of social media usage, identifying personal triggers, and investing in self-improvement. Jay also stresses the importance of understanding the deeper, often hidden aspects of people's lives and why we usually compare our internal struggles with others' external successes, leading to a distorted and unfair self-assessment.

    In the episode, you'll learn:

    How to identify your goals

    How to set mutual goals

How to be mindful of your triggers

    How to invest in self-improvement

By seeking deeper connections and understanding the full context of others' lives, we can develop more empathy and reduce the impulse to compare and shift our focus from external comparisons to internal growth and relational strength, ultimately leading to a more fulfilling and authentic life.

    With Love and Gratitude,

    Jay Shetty

8 Signs You Are Subtle Settling In Your Relationship & Overcome the Fear of Being Alone

Do you often feel unappreciated by your partner?

Do you avoid addressing issues to keep the peace?

Today, Jay tackles a common yet often overlooked issue in relationships: subtle settling. He begins by acknowledging the pervasive uncertainty many people face about their partners and the fear of being alone that often drives them to stay in unfulfilling relationships. Is it true that the lack of current excitement or passion necessarily indicates settling.

One of the key questions Jay poses is whether individuals feel they can be their true selves with their partners. He highlights the importance of authenticity in relationships, sharing anecdotes about how people often hide or underplay parts of themselves to be more likable, which ultimately leads to losing their true identity.

    In this episode, you'll learn:

    How to foster emotional availability

How to deal with unrealistic expectations

How to ensure mutual respect in your relationship

How to discuss important issues in a healthy way

Sara Bareilles: Anxiety, Anger, and Art

Sara Bareilles: Anxiety, Anger, and Art
Taming Anxiety Series - Episode 1: Today is a big day here on the podcast, both because we have a fantastic new episode, and because this episode is actually kicking off a series we have been wanting to produce for a long time, called “Taming Anxiety.”   Anxiety is a massive issue in our society. Even before the pandemic, it was on the rise. Now, the situation is even worse. Chances are it has afflicted you or someone you love at some point, on some level: maybe you’ve received an actual diagnosis, like generalized anxiety disorder, or maybe you’re prone to symptoms closer to panic, or perhaps you’re just susceptible to a bit too much garden-variety worrying. Maybe your kids are increasingly anxious. Or maybe, like me, you’ve got a few different items on the menu–some low-level professional freakouts here, some panic attacks in elevators (or on live TV) over there…   Anyway, the bad news is that anxiety is unlikely to disappear overnight. But the good news is that you can change your relationship to it. Hence this two week series we’re launching today. We’ve got two episodes with scientists and one episode with a meditation expert on deck to help you learn to tame your anxiety. And we’ve even got a free meditation challenge over in the Ten Percent Happier app to help you bring these lessons into your practice.   But before we get to that, let me introduce today’s guest. We’re kicking things off with a personal story. Sara Bareilles is a fearsome polymath: a singer, songwriter, composer, actor… the list goes on. She earned Tony and Grammy Award nominations for the Broadway musical Waitress, she’s got a new album out called Amidst the Chaos: Live from the Hollywood Bowl, and she stars in the new Tina Fey-produced series Girls5eva, which is streaming right now on Peacock.    Behind all this artistic and professional success is a meditator who is deliberately open and public about her struggles with anxiety and depression. In this conversation, she talks about: her history of anxiety and depression; the relationship between suffering and art, and whether meditation might defang someone’s creativity; how she works with anger; her relationship to social media; and we get an intimate glimpse into the back-stories behind some of her hit songs.   This is the first episode in our new “Taming Anxiety” series, and there will be an accompanying meditation challenge over in the Ten Percent Happier app. It’s also called “Taming Anxiety,” and it launches next week, on Monday, June 21st. The idea here is that you will be able to use the challenge to integrate everything you’ve learned in the podcast series into your neurons.    Join the Taming Anxiety Challenge by downloading the Ten Percent Happier app: https://10percenthappier.app.link/install. You should be prompted to join the Challenge after registering your account.
