    One of the most exhausting competitions that Soldiers and Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) from U.S. Army Alaska can compete against each other and be recognized as 2011 U.S. Army Alaska (USARAK) Soldier and NCO of the year. The competition took place at Joint Base Elmendorf - Richardson, Alaska, from April 11-15. The Soldiers competed both physically and mentally through events such as Soldiers tasks and drills lanes, stress shooting competitions, a combat obstacle course, the Army physical fitness test, weapons qualifications, a basic Army knowledge board, day and night land navigation, and many other physically challenging events.     1-52 Aviation BN. from Fort Wainwright, Alaska, assist the National Park Service Mountaineering Rangers with delivering 16,000 pounds of survival and medical equipment as far as 14,000 feet up Mt. Mckinley, the largest mountain in North America. The equipment will be used to set up medical and rescue base camps for mountaineers who plan to climb Mt.
