    One of the most exhausting competitions that Soldiers and Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) from U.S. Army Alaska can compete against each other and be recognized as 2011 U.S. Army Alaska (USARAK) Soldier and NCO of the year. The competition took place at Joint Base Elmendorf - Richardson, Alaska, from April 11-15. The Soldiers competed both physically and mentally through events such as Soldiers tasks and drills lanes, stress shooting competitions, a combat obstacle course, the Army physical fitness test, weapons qualifications, a basic Army knowledge board, day and night land navigation, and many other physically challenging events.
