#227: Spent $100K to Heal Anxiety, Didn't Work, Created a Permanent Solution with Daniel Packard

#227: Spent $100K to Heal Anxiety, Didn't Work, Created a Permanent Solution with Daniel Packard

Daniel is back, and he has a lot to share. Some discussion areas include:
-how to take a break from our mental health
-spent 100k trying to solve anxiety
-how he started a research company to engineer a solution
-Was his own test patient and felt calm; things usually sent him to terror. He thought it would wear off, but its been 10 years

Welcome back to A Mental Health Break! Be sure to leave a review and subscribe if you enjoy the show.

Link to his first episode: Live from Brazil: How to Cure Your Anxiety

Meet Daniel: After staying in a very unhealthy relationship for too long, Daniel ended up with severe anxiety and C-PSTD.

After spending 10 years and $100,000 trying to solve his anxiety, he learned that a trillion dollars is spent globally on mental health, but not getting people in pain permanent results.

Remembering what his dad told him that 'results matter' and because he was trained in engineering school to know how to engineer and invent solutions to complex problems, Daniel took a stand against the mental health industry and started his company Permanent Anxiety Solutions with the goal to see if it was possible to invent and reverse engineer a process that could solve anxiety permanently.  And ideally in a short period of time with consistent, measurable results.

Daniel Packard is a U.C. Berkeley Mechanical Engineer whose company, Permanent Anxiety Solutions, spent 8 years and $1.2 million to engineer and invent the world's only permanent anxiety solution program where you only pay at the end of the program once you have clear, measurable results.

Christmas Eve with Former Guest Who Launches Book! Welcome Back, Jen Gellock

Happy Holidays to all! It is wonderful to end the year by bringing back a former guest, Jen Gellock.

Check out the video version of this episode here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KglyP00dcW8&list=PLat9MDCRaOgII1QIa_8IhsoBZMPizmiQ2&index=1

Check out her inspiring first episode on A Mental Health Break here: https://amentalhealthbreak.buzzsprout.com/743867/13771167-from-burnout-to-connecting-with-her-inner-truth-with-jennifer-gellock

    About her book:
Half of Me: An Inward Journey Back Home to Wholeness is a thematic memoir that debuts my first collection of poetry.

This book chronicles my journey of inner awakening, and healing, and will invite you as a ready-to-go on your inward journey.

In the summer of 2020, I experienced emotional burnout that led me on a path to learn how to bring my dysregulated nervous system back into balance.

Writing in my journal became a daily practice that transformed into an expression of poetry.

Over three years, not only did I heal my nervous system, but the daily practice also ended up healing her heart.

When Life Does the Unexpected, Keep Going with Renzo Del Castillo

When Life Does the Unexpected, Keep Going with Renzo Del Castillo

2023 is nearing its end but our episodes are not. Take a deep breath, it's time for A Mental Health Break with Renzo Del Castillo.

    Areas discussed include:
-overcoming loss and change in relationships
    -competing with yourself
    -mental health benefits from traveling
-creating a legacy for his family
-the mindset needed to transform from childhood obesity to excellent health
    -being consistent in life

Renzo Del Castillo was born in Lima, Peru, in 1983, and was educated at the University of Florida, leaving with a B.A. in English, specializing in Victorian Literature, and an M.A. in Mass Communications, specializing in Intercultural Communications.

Renzo currently resides in Miami, but he prioritizes traveling to experience and be exposed to the tenets of other cultures. He strongly believes that it is through art that we find the divinity of truth, the pathway of communication with others; and that through this connection we are made whole.

About his book Still: Still is a collection of poems that focuses on the immigrant experience: a family's journey from Lima, Peru to Miami, Florida as political refugees and asylum seekers and the impact that had on the life of a boy as he grew into a man.

Renzo Del Castillo’s poems often reveal larger moral concerns, touching in their language the world of politics and betrayal that cannot help but impose upon the world of private language.

There is a lovely and intimate tone, used to remind the reader that imagination triumphs over, or sometimes through, adversity.

Moving Past Depression to Become Uniquely Normal with Matt Lesser

Moving Past Depression to Become Uniquely Normal with Matt Lesser

"Within months, the business failed and I went through a dark, suicidal depression..." Matt Lesser has a story to share: "I grew up in a small, lake community in northeast Indiana. We moved there because my dad had an opportunity to buy into a wholesale oil distributorship.

Growing up in a town of 700, living with a family business, and attending a small, Christian school (my graduating class had 7) gave me a very narrow, sheltered view of life. I quickly realized how sheltered my life had been!..."

    Additional areas discussed include:
-regular retreats for him and his employees with no technology
    -powers of solitude and silence
    -getting reflective and planning inward
    -having a support circle
-recognizing when you are getting drained
-how journaling can change your life

After college, I moved to Florida for a short while. Realizing that was not what I wanted, I moved back to Indiana, proposed to my elementary school sweetheart (we met in 3rd grade and dated from our Junior year of high school on), and were married in 1996.

Thinking I would pursue a Master's, my career took an unexpected turn. Instead of resigning, which I attempted, my dad left...and turned the business over to me.

Thinking I could do anything because I was 25, arrogant, and prideful, I was about to experience reality. Within months, the business failed and I went through a dark, suicidal depression. Nearly a year later, a new business was born from the ashes, and nearly 12 years later that business was sold. In 2021, I finally jumped "all in" into my own business, after being told by many whom I had worked with over the years that I needed to do this."

From Grieving Her Daughter's Death to Sharing Solace with Crystal Webster

From Grieving Her Daughter's Death to Sharing Solace with Crystal Webster

When Crystal Webster's daughter, Madelyn Elizabeth, was born May 19th, 2010, and then died in my arms just a few hours later I KNEW that this angel was special {I’m a little biased, I know}. She touched so many lives during her very brief one…I just didn’t know the right outlet to carry on her life, love, and legacy...

...I spent the next 5 years grieving her death, healing my heart, and working to bring my Madelyn the siblings she deserved. To this day, Madelyn remains an only child.

In 2015, during an uncommon moment of enlightenment, the concept of Sharing Solace hit me like a bolt of lightning. The only way to describe it is that Madelyn knew I was ready to begin to heal - and help others do the same - so she sent the idea to me herself.

I realized the gifts I received when Maddie was born - the gifts that once brought me so much comfort - were now bringing back the pain of losing her. I couldn’t keep seeing them every day and have a healthy mind {that realization in and of itself provided its own source of grief and guilt}. These gifts were not given to me to be put in a box in the back of a closet - but that’s where they sat.

Sharing Solace officially launched on May 19, 2018 - Madelyn Elizabeth’s would-be 8th birthday. I hope we’ve made Miss Maddie proud!

From Burnout to Connecting with her Inner Truth with Jennifer Gellock

At the age of thirty-one, she burned out her nervous system after living most of her life with unmanaged chronic stress and anxiety. For too many years, she fought against herself and became emotionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually exhausted from trudging through the resistance of modern life.

Then in 2020, she awakened to a higher knowing and surrendered to a path of doing years of inner work that transformed her from the inside out. Her own story has led her down a path to help others connect back to their own inner truth. Her work empowers people to become the fullest expression of themselves in this lifetime. This week, Jennifer Gellock shares his inspiring journey!

A few areas of discussion with Jennifer include:
    -Job burnout
-Strategies to deal with panic attacks
-How she moved past imposter syndrome
-How to move past that identity you knew your whole life into forming a new identity
    -Working in an aligned space
    -Sports = support system
-What to do when you feel something may be off

Meet our guest: Dr. Jennifer Gellock is a poet, transformational guide for heart-led leaders, and the founder of Inward Athlete. She left her job as a full-time professor in May of 2023 to step fully into her role as an entrepreneur and continue on her mission to shift others back home to their hearts.

In her work today, with personal clients and at her workshops, she uses a range of conscious awareness and mindfulness tools that include: subconscious reprogramming/mindset work, breathwork, journaling/poetry exercises, visualization techniques, energetic hygiene, and clearing practices, prayers of surrender and self-love, and her intuitive leadership guidance to shift others back home to their own inner knowing and take action from that place.

She has completed coursework and certifications to become a trauma-informed practitioner, mental health first aid responder, and experiential teaching and inclusive educator.
