It is always uplifting to tell my story and as I start to think about it I connect into the Spirit and feel myself being lifted into the Spirit, just like I did during my NDE. 

I was at a party of a friend from high school. I did drink some and smoked some pot, but didn't feel very high. I remember walking through the crowded room toward the door. I don’t remember walking out the door, I have a brief memory of walking down the walkway to my car and then the next thing I remember was being out of my body in the White Light. I am out of my body floating, above the car, the car smashed really smashed to the point you would assume that the person in the had died. My body was sitting on the ground leaning against the tree, my legs straight out on the ground and there was a police officer crouching over me. I saw my head cracked open and the rest of my body was not in good shape either and it didn't bother me. It seemed like everything was normal and ok and right. 

I was facing where the car and my body were and I was surrounded and filled with White Light. 
Where my body and car were, it was dark, it was the middle of the night. Behind me even though I wasn't looking that way I knew it was all white and there was a big circle of white, that was a different shade of white, and in the circle there was a being, a white being, a full silhouette, that was radiating white light with a little bit of gold in it. All different shades of white. My experience was very kinesthetic. I felt the greatest love. Even though my body was so damaged and my head was cracked open , everything made sense and was okay and peaceful. Saying this doesn’t really describe it. Because it assumes that I was looking at the situation and I felt a need to explain or justify feeling the great love and knowing. I remember thinking of and just knowing family dilemmas were okay. All the things from the physical level that seem wrong in my life and in the world were fine.  Everything just seemed okay. It wasn’t celebratory, it was peaceful in a way that created happiness and joy.

Tricia Barker experienced a profound near-death experience during her senior year of college, and this experience guided her to teach overseas, in public schools, and at the college level. Andy Petro had a near-death experience 2 days before graduating high school 68 years ago, and today he still remembers what happened almost word for word. During his NDE experience he saw his future and other past lives. 

What is an NDE? 
A near-death experience (NDE) is typically a profound, life changing, intensely emotional experience that usually occurs during a clinical crisis and has common characteristics and aftereffects. It is not a dream, hallucination, or mental illness (Greyson, 1983). There are no predictive variables to identify who will have an NDE. They happen to people of all ages, religions, socio-economic groups, cultures, educational backgrounds, and belief systems. They occur under a variety of circumstances such as accidents, near-drownings, illnesses, combat, surgical procedures, and childbirth. Following an NDE, experiencers (NDErs) often display some common aftereffects. Research has established a set of common NDE characteristics and long-term aftereffects. Theories used to explain near-death experiences in purely physical terms have been proven inadequate by NDE researchers and others.

Near-death experiences are triggered during singular life-threatening episodes when the body is injured by a heart attack, shock, or blunt trauma such as an explosion or a fall.
    These events share broad commonalities: becoming pain-free, seeing a bright light at the end of a tunnel, or detaching from one's body and floating above it and even flying off into space.
    Why the mind should experience the struggle to sustain its operations in the face of a loss of blood flow and oxygen as positive and blissful rather than as panic-inducing remains a mystery.

A young Ernest Hemingway, badly injured by an exploding shell on a World War I battlefield, wrote in a letter home that “dying is a very simple thing. I’ve looked at death, and really I know. If I should have died it would have been very easy for me. Quite the easiest thing I ever did.”

Years later Hemingway adapted his own experience—that of the soul leaving the body, taking flight and then returning—for his famous short story “The Snows of Kilimanjaro,” about an African safari gone disastrously wrong. The protagonist, stricken by gangrene, knows he is dying. Suddenly, his pain vanishes, and Compie, a bush pilot, arrives to rescue him. The two take off and fly together through a storm with rain so thick “it seemed like flying through a waterfall” until the plane emerges into the light: before them, “unbelievably white in the sun, was the square top of Kilimanjaro. And then he knew that there was where he was going.” The description embraces elements of a classic near-death experience: the darkness, the cessation of pain, the emerging into the light and then a feeling of peacefulness.

Near-death experiences, or NDEs, are triggered during singular life-threatening episodes when the body is injured by blunt trauma, a heart attack, asphyxia, shock, and so on. About one in 10 patients with cardiac arrest in a hospital setting undergoes such an episode. Thousands of survivors of these harrowing touch-and-go situations tell of leaving their damaged bodies behind and encountering a realm beyond everyday existence, unconstrained by the usual boundaries of space and time. These powerful, mystical experiences can lead to permanent transformation of their lives.

NDEs are not fancy flights of the imagination. They share broad commonalities—becoming pain-free, seeing a bright light at the end of a tunnel and other visual phenomena, detaching from one’s body and floating above it, or even flying off into space (out-of-body experiences). They might include meeting loved ones, living or dead, or spiritual beings such as angels; a Proustian recollection or even review of lifetime memories, both good and bad (“my life flashed in front of my eyes”); or a distorted sense of time and space. There are some underlying physiological explanations for these perceptions, such as progressively narrowing tunnel vision. Reduced blood flow to the visual periphery of the retina means vision loss occurs there first.
