    Underground 70's Rock Hidden Gems

    Underground 70's Rock Hidden Gems
Welcome to AFU Podcast!! Sorry it’s been a little time since my last Podcast but this one is going to be sooooo… worth it. This is dedicated to the unsung bands of the 70’s rock scene that never got a chance to break it into the mainstream (other than UFO and Whitesnake). I have been an avid vinyl record collector and love seeking out extremely hard to find and rare records. So this podcast are all vinyl rips from my collection. The artists you will hear here are truly amazing and the forefront of Rock, Hard Rock Jam, Prog and Proto Metal in the 70’s along with just plain badass rocking songs. Hopefully you will enjoy this one and please feel free to comment about the podcast and also recommendations of some rare 70’s artists. Here is the track listing with some info on the artists Bitha – “Too Much Woman” Birtha was one of the leading female rock bands performing during the early 1970's. The band consisted of four women. All four members of the group performed lead vocals and harmonies. Armageddon – “Buzzard” English Progressive Group, mid 1970s. Transmutated from Steamhammer. Buffalo – “Shylock” Australian hard rock band active from 1971 to 1977 Fuzzy Duck – “More Than I Am” Fuzzy Duck was an English progressive rock group from London, formed in 1970. DUST – “Love me Hard” American Hard Rock Band in the 1970's UFO – “Boogie” British heavy metal/hard rock band formed in 1969. KHAN – “Stargazers” UK prog rock band formed by Steve Hillage, associated with the 'Canterbury scene'. They were only active in 1971-72 and released one album. Three Man Army – “Butter Queen” The group was formed by Adrian Gurvitz and Paul Gurvitz, formerly of The Gun. Following the band's dissolution, Adrian played with Buddy Miles and Paul played with Parrish & Gurvitz, then reunited as Three Man Army. Their debut album, A Third of a Lifetime, featured several drummers, including Miles, Carmine Appice (of Vanilla Fudge) and Mike Kellie (from Spooky Tooth). Tony Newman, who had previously played with Sounds Incorporated and Jeff Beck, joined for the group's next two albums, and a fourth album was planned but never recorded. Newman then left to play with David Bowie, and the Gurvitzes united with Ginger Baker as the Baker Gurvitz Army. Trapeze – “Keepin Time” English rock band formed in March 1969 in Cannock, Staffordshire. Members included: Mel Galley, Glenn Hughes, Dave Holland, Geoff Downes, Craig Erickson. Captain Beyond – “Mesmeration Eclipse” American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California in 1971. The band featured former members of Iron Butterfly and Deep Purple. Drummer Bobby Caldwell (2) had played for Johnny Winter and Rick Derringer. Sir Lord Baltimore- “Master Heartache” Sir Lord Baltimore was an American rock band from Brooklyn, New York, United States, formed in 1968. Some have cited the 1971 review of their debut record, Kingdom Come, in Creem magazine as containing the first documented use of the term "heavy metal" to refer to a style of music; the truth is the same reviewer used the term when reviewing a Humble Pie album in Rolling Stone six months earlier. Sir Lord Baltimore featured a drumming lead singer, traditionally a rarity in rock and metal music. The group have been called "the godfathers of stoner rock. Highway Robbery – “Fifteen” A US rock group from 1972, Highway Robbery balanced their hippie idealism with thunderous arrangements redolent of early Black Sabbath. Whitesnake-“Come On” Formed : 1977 London, United Kingdom Legs Diamond – “Satin Peacock” US AOR Rock outfit formed in 1975. Their debut album 'Legs Diamond' came out in 1977 and they may still be going today! Missouri – “Got That Fever” Rock band from Kansas City, Missouri, USA (1977-1984) Iron Claw – “ Lightning” Scottish underground heavy rock band formed in the summer of 1969 in the town of Dumfries. Bloodrock – “ Whiskey Vengeance” US American hard rock band, based in Fort Worth, Texas, that had considerable success in the 1970s. Stray – “Only What You can Make It” British rock band formed in 1966, London, England. Visitor 2035 – “Don Geralo’s Waltz” VISITOR 2035 were a short-lived jazz/prog/rock band based in the UK, with the Irishman John Mason and Craig Pruess , an American residing in UK since 1973.
