    Jen Uschold grew up in Western NY and has been a PT for over 3 decades. She has worked in multiple treatment environments including travel PT. Out of her love for PT and helping others to empower themselves, she was drawn to both pain science and health coaching. She has completed a Fellowship in Pain Science with Evidence in Motion. Jen is an eager learner and has also studied Lifestyle Medicine and Positive Intelligence. She recently became a Certified PQ Coach.

    Jen loves and has been teaching since 1998 with companies in Chicago, Virginia, Colorado, and internationally. Jen has owned a small private practice since 2007.

    I have walked many miles in your shoes. For nearly 30 years I struggled with chronic health issues including Endometriosis, Lupus, Raynaud’s, and Lyme Disease. I know what it’s like to feel uncomfortable, exhausted, frustrated, and hopeless. I finally got real answers and learned how to help my body heal itself and my mission is to help you do the same thing.

    The fast-paced, nonstop treadmill of daily life causes chronic stress, emotional fatigue and adrenal exhaustion which leads to illness and dysfunction.     Growing up, Thomas Garbarino lived with a rare chronic, autoimmune disorder that resulted in seizures and other painful neurological symptoms. It shaped who I was and who I’ve become.

    His symptoms persisted into adulthood only to get worse from an injury to a hep B vaccine and contracting a rare strain of lyme disease. It was awful. He didn't sleep or eat much. The pain in his body was overwhelming.  The worst part was no conventional medication worked, so he couldn't find a way to make the pain stop.  He would look at everyday people in wonder why was this happening?  Doctor appointment after doctor appointment with no answers or help left him frustrated (and sometimes hopeless). Nothing was working.

    That’s when he took his health into his own hands and began my healing journey. He spent tens of thousands of dollars seeking out rare treatments, healers, acupuncturists, herbalist, medicine man, and shamans. He experimented with my diet and lifestyle changes. He began a deep study of qIgong, taijiquan and meditation. He started to learn how to slow down, breathe and be with my pain instead of running away from it. Gradually, He started to feel better. There was hope. He began to accept more of the person he was rather than the one he was imagining to be. He learned to let go of old lingering traumas that left scars in my somatic body. More peace and love filled his heart and began radiating through him. He recognized that everything that had happened was for his growth and to deepen his life's purpose.

    Today, he is living his life's purpose as a Holistic Coach and Facilitator of healing as well as a licensed practitioner of Chinese Medicine.

Dr. Hassett is a Past President of the Association of Rheumatology Professionals – a division of the American College of Rheumatology. She is also the author of the new book, “Chronic Pain Reset,” an innovative pain self-management book written for patients and clinician.
