⁠RAMONA⁠ are one of Tijuana's leading indie pop acts with a sound that straddles the psychedelic sixties groovy (and romantic) garage sounds of Mexico and East LA Chicano soul creating some of the hippest sounds you'll hear today. They've collaborated with Ximena Sarinana, David Velasco (Porter), and have built an irresistibly cool body of musical works winning them fans on both sides of the border. Their creative use of video shows shows their strengths on and off stage. Drummer Omar Cordoba joins Bakotunes by phone for a quick tourstop interview the morning after the band's show at The Observatory in Santa Ana, CA. Recorded 3-7-24. Marky Ramone (Marc Steven Bell) is a legendary drummer who began playing drums in bands in the New York City area, before joining pioneering punk rock band Richard Hell and the Voidoids who toured the UK with The Clash and recorded the groundbreaking album "The Blank Generation". He then replaced original Ramones drummer Tommy Ramone in the ⁠Ramones ⁠in 1978, and took on the stage name Marky Ramone. The music of the Ramones has inspired the forming of garage bands around the world. In 2002, the Ramones were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Marky Ramone continues to keep the Ramones legacy alive around the world with his band Marky Ramone's Blitzkrieg for fans of all ages and they are badass! Latti Patterson is a Bakersfield-based singer songwriter who got her start performing with her father Deryl and sister Breeia as The Patterson Family band for over a decade in various locations throughout Bakersfield. Latti shares her story from being a young SoCal kid dropped into Bakersfield life, to picking up the guitar to evolving as an artist performing alongside her family into adulthood. Today she records and releases her own original music on all streaming music platforms and picks up local gigs when she can. Nate Berg was a veteran Bakersfield music promoter known for booking and promoting punk rock and alternative rock shows inside the Jerry's Pizza basement in downtown Bakersfield in the nineties and early 2000's. In the coming years, Berg also began filming and producing a small string of independent documentary films focused on central valley's punk rock  scene - "Floradora: All Ages on a Thousand Stages", "Bones of Brundage", "A Punk Side Story," and his most recent "HWY 58" series chronicling hidden figures from the history of The Bakersfield Sound. Berg passed suddenly on Jan. 18th, 2024 following a brief illness. In this episode, Bakersfield musician Cesareo Garasa, who wrote a memorial piece on Berg, shares his memories and thoughts on Berg's legacy. Episode contains audio from KGET17, Bakersfield, CA.

Mexican director Rodrigo Reyes makes films deeply grounded in his identity as an immigrant artist, crafting a poetic gaze from the margins of both cultures, using striking imagery to portray the contradictory nature of our shared world, while revealing the potential for transformative change.
