    12. Jesus' Parables: The Unforgiving Servant (Matthew 18:21-35)

    12. Jesus' Parables: The Unforgiving Servant (Matthew 18:21-35)

In Matthew 18, Jesus Christ responds to Peter's inquiry about how many times he should forgive his brother who has wronged him. Jesus' response is a powerful message of forgiveness - not just seven times, but seventy-seven times! To emphasize this point, he tells the parable of the Unforgiving Servant, a story about a man who owes his master an insurmountable debt, but is shown mercy and forgiven. However, when this same servant refuses to forgive a fellow servant who owes him a much smaller debt, he is punished severely by the master. This parable, much like the parable of the sower and other teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, reminds us of the importance of forgiveness, mercy, and judgment. It reminds us that even when we fall short, He gets us. Join Adam and Alison in this episode of Biblical Bytes as they explore the profound implications of this challenging parable and its relevance to our lives today,  and the impact of The Passion of the Christ.

    2. Biblical Inerrancy Errors

    2. Biblical Inerrancy Errors

In this podcast, Adam and Alison discuss the inerrancy of God's Word and its importance to their faith journey. They share their passion for God's Word and their desire to share it with others. They mention that they recently recorded an entire podcast but decided not to release it because it was full of static. They want to provide a safe place for people to explore their faith and ask difficult questions. They hope this podcast will help deepen people's faith and that it won't be the first and last time people listen.

In this conversation, the two discuss their views on the inerrancy of scripture. They start by defining the term inerrancy and explain why they chose the topic for their podcast. They then move on to discuss how they believe that scripture is inerrant, and how it has a meaning that is applicable to their lives. They also explain how they want their podcast to feel like a conversation instead of a lecture, and how they hope that their listeners will join them in this conversation. The two end by discussing why they were motivated to look into their own views on inerrancy.

Inerrancy is the belief that the Bible is without error. This belief is found in the popular scripture of John 1:1 which states, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God.” This is the perfect example of inerrancy as it references Jesus, who is the perfect representation of the Word. It is believed that the Bible was written by human hands, but undeniably divinely inspired by the Holy Spirit. This divine authorship was necessary in order to write the truth of God. The exact process of how this happened is unknown, but it is believed that the Spirit used the unique personalities and perspectives of each author, allowing them to write what God intended.
