Butchertown Rundown: A Racing Louisville Podcast

Racing fans got their first taste of the new team in the Women's Cup and Tom, Bekki, and Kaitlyn discuss all the good and the no-so-good from the team's big preseason tournament. Plus, new assistant coach Carm Moscato joins us to discuss her new role with the team, what they learned from their trip to Colombia, and more!

We've had a lot of fun episodes, but this one definitely takes the cake. This week Tom, Bekki, and Kaitlyn chat with Kentucky legend Arin Wright about coming home to play for Racing, how the club has become "what all clubs should aspire to be", and why prejudices against Kentucky need to "just die today." There are also a lot of laughs to be had as we relive a very enlightening interview with Arin from back in her UK wildcat days and, of course, we ask all our listener questions from Twitter and the Legion slack. You don't want to miss it!

It's a brand new season for BTRD and Racing Louisville and to celebrate, we're kicking it off with not one, but TWO interviews. First up, Margot Ricks from Soccer Holdings is here to tell us all the exciting events planned for Racing's season ticket holders and non-season ticket holders. And then we hassle general manager Ryan Dell for all the dirt on everything from team vibes to new kits to how much has changed between this year and last year. You don't want to miss it!

Cue up the sad Sarah MacLachlan mixtape because in this extra off-season bonus episode, Tom, Kaitlyn, and Bekki talk about all the players we've lost this off-season and how that might impact the team. But it's not all tears and sadness! We have plenty to be happy about, including new head coach Bev Yanez and what we hope she can bring to the team! 

In the true season two finale, Bekki, Tom, and Kaitlyn get deeper into how this year went for Racing. Can it be called a success when the team finished in 9th...AGAIN? But if it wasn't a success, can we really overlook the progress and call it a failure? We get into the meat of the season this episode, so join us one final time for season two!

Racing Louisville's third season has sadly come to an end. But that doesn't mean we still can't have fun! Kaitlyn, Tom, and Bekki give our selections for the First Annual Butchertown Rundown End of the Season Awards in the first part of our season-ending podcast. Check out part two where we break the season down in more detail in a few days!

Racing came back to win a stunner against Orlando and keep their playoff hopes alive. Now Tom, Kaitlyn, and Bekki talk about what went wrong in Chicago, what went right against Orlando, and what Racing will have to do to win in San Diego.

Kaitlyn and Bekki begrudgingly remember the loss to Houston that pushed Racing down in the 9th place. On a happier note, however, they discuss the huge list of NWSL free agents that came out this week. Who will Racing potentially lose and who will Racing potentially grab? That's our big discussion this week on the Butchertown Rundown.

In this episode Tom, Bekki, and Kaitlyn discuss the B-side of Racing's dream week album. Included in the deep cuts are Racing's 2-0 loss to the North Carolina Courage in the Challenge Cup final, our thoughts on the Challenge Cup possibly going away forever, and the importance of the team's upcoming regular season match against the Houston Dash. 

It has happened! Racing has beaten Portland in the regular season and OL Reign in the Challenge Cup semifinals and they did it all in the span of 5 days! Now they're onto the Challenge Cup final in North Carolina where they may slay another giant in just over a week! The Purp was so big, we had to have an emergency pod about it. But don't worry - this is just part one. We'll have our regularly scheduled episode covering the final out early next week.

Finally, at long last, the whole crew is back together again and there is so much to talk about. Tom, Bekki, and Kaitlyn discuss what's good, bad, and frustrating about Racing's perpetual draws. Is it the team's mentality? Is it the coaching? And, most importantly, is it better to have walked on the moon with a pee boot than to never have walked on the moon at all? 

This week Kaitlyn returns to the podcast and Bekki has the week off. She and Tom  discuss Racing's 3-0 Challenge Cup loss to Kansas City, what needs to happen for the team to clinch a playoff spot, her trip to New Zealand, and which players are going to be crucial to Racing's success as they finish out the season. 

Kaitlyn may still be in New Zealand, but Bekki and Tom are home and ready to discuss Racing's first entry into the Challenge Cup playoffs and all the World Cup goings on. Can Racing go the distance and win some hardware this season? (Note that this episode was recorded Sunday so it is in places slightly out of date in terms of World Cup scores and outcomes). 

This week it's just Tom and Bekki holding down the fort as Kaitlyn flies away to New Zealand for the World Cup. The most recent Kansas City game is discussed, as are potential off-season roster moves, and the state of the team at midseason. Tom also commits to making Butchertown Rundown the most accurate and factual podcast in existence and also provides a legendary Mint Mix submission in honor of Jaelin Howell.

We also address the Racing front office's mishandling of this month's Juneteenth celebration and what we'd like to see from the club going forward.
