Episode 27: Frightmare (a.k.a. "The Horror Star")

Episode 27: Frightmare (a.k.a. "The Horror Star")

In this episode, we talk about Jeffrey Combs's horror debut: a "dreadful little movie" (those are Jeffrey Combs's own words!) called "FRIGHTMARE." For some reason, it is sometimes titled "The Horror Star." Overall, it's a slasher movie with a lot of ideas but not much ambition... and not enough gore! Regardless, some parts are extremely entertaining, and it contains an epic Jeffrey Combs death... maybe the most dramatic one we've seen yet!

Have you seen this movie? What did you think?

Episode 26: Stan Against Evil: Girls' Night

Episode 26: Stan Against Evil: Girls' Night

In this very special episode of Combs Crew, we talk about "Girls Night," S2E4 of "Stan Against Evil." Wow! This one has Jeffrey Combs from front to back. It almost feels like a love letter to Jeffrey Combs! He says his magic powers are "showmanship and pizazz"... there's discussion of eggs floating in "COMB juice"... wow! We had a lot of fun watching this one! Have you see Stan Against Evil? Do you recommend it? Have you ever drank Comb Juice? Let us know in the comments!

    Episode 25: Fortress

    Episode 25: Fortress

In our 25th episode of Combs Crew, we talk about 1992's "FORTRESS," a futuristic prison break movie with "intestinators," man. Listen to this episode, man, or else you will be intestinated, man. Jeffrey Combs plays a prisoner named "D-DAY" who can hack Intestinators. Unfortunately, Christopher Lambert plays the protagonist, a guy named John Brennick. But the real star of this movie are the Intestinators. Episode 24: From Beyond

    Episode 24: From Beyond

Happy Holidays! In this episode, we finally tackle one of Combs's biggest roles: Crawford Tillinghast, in 1986's "FROM BEYOND." With Combs, Crampton, Stewart Gordon, and H.P. Lovecraft, this feels like a strange sibling to "Re-Animator." Join us as we dissect this wet, gooey, magenta masterpiece!

Episode 23: Masters of Horror: The Black Cat

Episode 23: Masters of Horror: The Black Cat

In this Combs Crew episode, we watch an episode of "MASTERS OF HORROR," a cool horror anthology series that none of us have seen before. We watched "The Black Cat," an adaptation of the Edgar Allan Poe story, in which Jeffrey Combs plays Edgar Allan Poe himself! It's a really well-made hour of television... except for some really hard-to-watch animal cruelty! Have you see this series? What do you think?

Episode 22: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Far Beyond the Stars

Episode 22: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Far Beyond the Stars

In this episode, we talk about Season 6, Episode 13 of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, called "Far Beyond the Stars." It's a fantastic episode about racism, the history of sci fi, and the importance of fiction. Unfortunately, Jeffrey Combs plays a horrible, racist cop! Oh well... somebody has to play that role, so it might as well be Combs! Join us as we discuss what might be the very best episode of Star Trek ever made!

The Combs Crew Halloween Special (2021)

The Combs Crew Halloween Special (2021)

In our Halloween Special, we look back at our first 20 episodes and answer 25 very special Combs Questions! What was our favorite quote? What was our favorite Jeffrey Combs death? If there was a "Jeffrey Combs" cocktail, what would be in it? Listen to this episode to find out! And leave your answers on our Instagram and Twitter accounts!

    Episode 20: Bride of Re-Animator

    Episode 20: Bride of Re-Animator

For our TWENTIETH EPISODE, we pull out the stops and talk about "Bride of Re-Animator," the wacky, kooky, and spooky sequel to "Re-Animator." It's a really interesting and weird film that we all seem to have a love/hate relationship with! Join us as we celebrate 20 episodes with a seemingly-endless discussion of this cult classic.

Episode 19: Beauty and the Beast (1987)

Episode 19: Beauty and the Beast (1987)

In this episode, we watched S1E4 of 1987's live-action "Beauty and the Beast" television show, in which Jeffrey Combs plays a goon named "Python." It's a good show, was written and produced by George RR Martin, and co-stars Linda Hamilton and Ron Perlman. But nobody watched it, and this specific episode is kind of boring. Sorry! Join us as we talk about this strange, forgotten piece of television history...

    Episode 18: Star Trek: Voyager

    Episode 18: Star Trek: Voyager

In this episode we talk about Season 6, Episode 15 of "Star Trek: Voyager," titled "Tsunkatse." This is apparently the only Voyager episode with Jeffrey Combs! He plays "Penk," an alien with a Fu Manchu mustache who kidnaps victims and forces them to fight to the death in televised matches. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson also makes an appearance in this episode! We have a lot to say about Voyager in this episode... join us!

Are you a Voyager fan? How do you rank Penk among Combs's other "Star Trek" characters?

    Episode 17: Perversions of Science

    Episode 17: Perversions of Science

Have you ever heard of "Perversions of Science," the short-lived HBO sci-fi anthology spun off from "Tales from the Crypt?" We watched episode 4, "The Exile," which stars Jeffrey Combs and has the most incredible twist of any piece of fiction. Special guest: a cockroach, who appears in one of our apartments at the very end of the episode.

In addition to Jeffrey Combs, the episode also stars David Warner and has an appearance by Ron Perlman!

HBO has seemingly abandoned this show and the episode we reviewed is available on YouTube. Combs Crew recommends checking it out!

    Episode 16: Cyclone

    Episode 16: Cyclone

In Episode 16 of COMBS CREW, we dissect 1987's "Cyclone," in which Jeffrey Combs plays the brainiac boyfriend of Heather Thomas, a verifiable badass biker babe. If you like high speed motorcycle action, then... maybe skip this, because the bikes are surprisingly slow most of the time. Join us as we discuss the film in our usual painstaking detail!

Episode 15: Star Trek: Enterprise: The Andorian Incident

Episode 15: Star Trek: Enterprise: The Andorian Incident

In Episode 15 of COMBS CREW, we complain endlessly about "The Andorian Incident," the seventh episode from the first season of Star Trek: Enterprise. The show introduces Shran, Jeffrey Combs's Andorian character, in this episode. Shran is great, but that doesn't stop the rest of the episode from being unbelievably boring!

CONTENT WARNING: we complain a lot about Star Trek: Enterprise in this episode. If you're a big fan of the series, consider skipping this one!

    Episode 14: Creepshow

    Episode 14: Creepshow

In this episode, we watch an episode of the Shudder series "CREEPSHOW," titled "BAD WOLF DOWN," in which Jeffrey Combs, playing a Nazi commander, does battle with an entrenched American platoon in the French countryside. Things get heated when werewolves get introduced into the mix! If you like werewolves, World War 2, and Jeffrey Combs, this is the episode for you!

    Episode 13: Felony

    Episode 13: Felony

For lucky Episode 13, we discuss 1994's (or 1995's?... nobody knows...) "FELONY," which is the greatest film ever made. Cars are flipped, Combs are shot, and backs are stabbed in this ridiculous action film, co-starring Lance Henriksen, Ashley Laurence, David Warner, and Joe Don Baker. If you haven't seen this film, stop what you're doing and watch it today!

Episode 11: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation: Jackpot

Episode 11: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation: Jackpot

In this episode of COMBS CREW, we discuss season 4 episode 6 of the original CSI, titled "JACKPOT," in which Jeffrey Combs plays a veterinarian / coroner named Dr. Dale Sterling. Somehow, none of us have seen CSI before, and we're amazed by the wizardry of the show's detectives. Is Jeffrey Combs the killer? What is the secret of the Nugget Room? Why did gnawing on a disembodied head make a woman's dog sleepy? Listen to this episode to find out!

    Episode 10: Re-Animator

    Episode 10: Re-Animator

We celebrate our TENTH EPISODE by reviewing 1985's RE-ANIMATOR, arguably the most legendary Jeffrey Combs film! It still holds up wonderfully today (except for the number of indignities heaped upon Barbara Crampton).  Join us as we laugh, gasp, and mumble incoherently for 2+ excruciating hours of painstaking analysis and discussion!

Episode 9: The Flash (1991): Captain Cold

Episode 9: The Flash (1991): Captain Cold

In this episode, we watch an episode of the incredible, but completely forgotten, 1991 "The Flash" TV series, in which Jeffrey Combs plays Jimmy Swain, a gangster who hires the villain Captain Cold. The show has intense 1990s energy, some very entertaining "New York" accents, and a lot of "cold"-themed puns. It's a mess and we loved it!

    Episode 8: Would You Rather

    Episode 8: Would You Rather

In this episode, we discuss the Netflix torture porn horror flick "WOULD YOU RATHER," where Jeffrey Combs plays the villainous Shepherd Lambrick and pits a bunch of unwilling participants against each other in a bloody game of "would you rather." It's kind of gross and extremely depressing, but Combs has an excellent mustache and gets to enjoy some pistachios! We end the episode with a Combs-themed game of "would you rather." Enjoy!
