Instagram Story Ideas & Tips for Engagement and to Maintain Visibility

Instagram Story Ideas & Tips for Engagement and to Maintain Visibility

In this episode of the Creative Marketing Show, I share three effective strategies for maintaining visibility and engagement on Instagram, even during those moments when you might not feel like posting.

Why Letting Stories Expire Can Be a Winning Strategy:
Allowing Instagram Stories to expire after 24 hours might seem counterintuitive, but it's a powerful strategy. It creates a sense of urgency, encouraging your audience to check your content regularly.

Creating Fresh Stories with Engagement Stickers:
Discover how to use engagement stickers effectively. They provide interactive elements that can skyrocket your reach and create a more engaging experience for your audience.

    Repurposing Old Content for Stories:
Don't let your old content gather dust! Learn how to breathe new life into existing posts by repurposing them for your Instagram Stories. It's a fantastic way to maximize your content's lifespan.

Stand Out with Story Posts in Reels:
Uncover the secrets to creating eye-catching content by using Instagram Reels in conjunction with your Stories. This dynamic duo can set your brand apart and significantly boost engagement. It's actually one of my favourite ways to show up in stories with a clean and professional look!

By implementing these strategies, you can maintain a strong presence on Instagram, even during those times when you don't feel like creating new content. Remember, consistency is key in the world of social media, and these techniques will help you stay visible and engaged with your audience.

Lessons from Ted Lasso for the Small Business Owner

Lessons from Ted Lasso for the Small Business Owner

It's no secret - I love Ted Lasso and am still hurting that the series has come to an end. It's a beautiful thing when a piece of pop culture can leave a lasting impression on you, and that is exactly what Ted Lasso did for me.

In this episode, I am sharing five quotes from the show that resonate when it comes to building and growing a small business. I hope that these quotes offers a lesson of encouragement, even when you're feeling down or struggling.

    My top favourite quotes are:

"Taking a challenge is a lot like riding a horse. If you're comfortable while you're doing it, you're probably doing it wrong."

    "Be curious, not judgemental."

"It's funny to think of all the things in one's life that can happen just 'cause a fella's shoelace came undine."

"Success is not about the wins and losses. It's about helping these young fellas be the best versions of themselves, on and off the field."

    And my personal favourite...

"You know what the happiest animal on earth is? It's a goldfish. You know why? Got a 10-second memory. Be a goldfish, Sam."

What's your favourite show that has taught you lessons in humility, grace, gratitude and forgiveness? Ted Lass is a tough one to beat!

Work From Home Tools, Tips and Essentials for Productivity

Work From Home Tools, Tips and Essentials for Productivity

I'm super excited for today's episode and I hope you are too! Whether you work from home or are aspiring to do so, I am sharing all of my favourite tools, tips and essentials to have more productivity and keep things fresh!

I truly believe that if you are working from home that it is important to have boundaries, proper equipment and of course, comfort! That's why it's called the comfort of home, am I right?

For more on the items mentioned, you can check out the affiliate links below.

Here are my favourite Work from Home Tools & Accessories!

USB Hub - this is such a handy tool, especially if you use a MacBook Air and need more items hooked up (such as a mic, camera, memory card, etc).

Leather Mouse Pad (with wrist pad) - Honestly, who knew that a mouse pad could provide so much relief! It made a huge difference in the sore pain I had when I was just using a notebook.

Bamboo Seat Cushion - So not only was I having pain in my wrist, I was also starting to have a sore back, especially while sitting too long. I have had this Bamboo Memory Foam seat cushion for almost two years and it is just that little extra support that I needed!

Laptop Stand - This is probably one of my favourite tools. It helps with my posture AND I can take it with me whenever I am working throughout the house.

Desk Riser - While I love my laptop stand, this desk riser was a great (and affordable) way to have a standing / rising desk in my small office space. It is easy to use and also portable so technically, you can take it anywhere. It's great for when I want to stand and take a break from sitting as well as for presentations on zoom!

Magnetic Door Screen - For all you Dog Mama's!  I shit you not, this has been super helpful for when I am working away, on a call or recording. This way, my sweet pup Cleo can make her way out back at her own leisure without letting in any bugs! *warning - don't use when it's raining LOL

Ring Doorbell - With the Ring Doorbell I can easily view the camera via the app on my phone which is perfect to discern whether whomever is at the door is worth excusing myself for.

List of equipment I use and love:
    Podcast Microphone
    Ring Light

Digital Marketing Roadmap: Are Master Resell Rights ( MRR )Worth the Hype?

Digital Marketing Roadmap: Are Master Resell Rights ( MRR )Worth the Hype?

In this episode, I discuss a digital marketing roadmap that has been gaining attention lately. And it all comes down to the concept if Master Resell rights (MRR). What are master resell rights? MRR is an opportunity that allows you to purchase a digital program (a course, ebook, digital file etc) and have a license to sell it to your own audience and keep 100% of the profits.

However, I have some reservations about this opportunity. I share my skepticism about the over-saturation of the program, lack of control over the product, and the potential impact on building a personal brand. I encourage viewers to do their own research and trust their instincts before making any decisions and investing in MRR.

Big news! Doors are open to join the Creative Marketing Membership! Come check out what community, support and education for your small business can look like (without spending thousands and thousands of dollars!).

Give Yourself Permission - From Social Media Breaks to Starting a Passion Project

Give Yourself Permission - From Social Media Breaks to Starting a Passion Project

In this episode, I am delving into a topic close to every entrepreneur's heart: giving yourself permission. Perhaps it's taking breaks from social media (it was for me) or embarking on new passion projects. We often get wrapped up in the overwhelm of social media and sometimes need to give ourselves the permission to pivot.

Here are a few things to remember:

    1. The Significance of Taking Breaks from Social Media
Social media is a powerful tool, but it's equally important to disconnect and recharge. Sometimes, by stepping away from the virtual world, we allow ourselves to regain focus and clarity.

    2. Exploring New Passion Projects: Igniting Confidence
Venturing into a new passion project can be intimidating, but it's a journey that often leads to building confidence. I think that it is important to allow yourself to explore creative avenues beyond your main business.

    3. Empowerment Through Permission: Boosting Confidence
Giving yourself permission is a catalyst for nurturing self-assurance in your small business decisions and can really help you boost your own confidence.

    Key Takeaways:

    • Purposeful breaks from social media can lead to enhanced productivity and a fresh perspective.
    • Pursuing passion projects beyond your core business can reignite your creativity and enrich your skill set.
    • Granting yourself permission to explore fosters confidence and equips you to take your business to new heights.

Thank you for tuning in to the Creative Marketing Show. Remember, embracing breaks and new beginnings is not just about taking a step back, but also a step towards growth. As women in business, let's empower ourselves with the confidence to explore, evolve, and excel.

What is a Personal Brand and how do you build one?

What is a Personal Brand and how do you build one?

Have you ever been puzzled by the term "personal branding"? I know I have! It can be confusing, especially when you're unsure about how to develop and market your own personal brand. But don't worry, I've got your back! In today's episode, we're diving deep into the world of personal branding and exploring how it can make a difference in your business. We'll explore how you show up on social media, your web presence, and even in person. It's all about serving your clients and audience in an authentic and meaningful way.

    Defining Personal Branding:

    • So, let's start by demystifying personal branding. Forget about logos, fonts, and color palettes for a moment. Your personal brand goes way beyond those visual components.
    • Picture this: When someone talks about you behind your back, what do they say? How do they describe you? That's the essence of your personal brand. It's what people perceive and feel about you when you're not around.
    • In a nutshell, your personal brand is your reputation. It's the values that resonate with your target audience. It's about being authentic, building trust, and establishing credibility. So much more than just a logo!

    Finding Your Unique Voice:

    • One essential aspect of personal branding is discovering and expressing your unique voice. This is what sets you apart from others in your industry and allows you to connect with your audience on a deeper level.
    • Sure, there might be countless others doing what you do, but nobody can offer it in the same way you do. Take some time to reflect on what makes you unique and how you can infuse that into your personal brand.

    Aligning with Your Values:

    • Your values act as a guiding compass for your brand. They shape your identity and purpose. When your personal brand reflects your values, it becomes more authentic and resonates with your audience on a deeper level.

    The Power of Storytelling:

    • Now, let's talk about storytelling. Stories have an incredible ability to capture your audience's attention and create a strong connection. Through your personal experiences and journey, you can craft and share stories that resonate with your audience.
    • When you share relatable stories, it's like a conversation with your audience. It takes away the pressure and allows you to connect with them on a deeper level. Your personal stories humanize your brand and create a sense of trust and authenticity. So, don't be afraid to share your wins, challenges, and lessons learned along the way.

Harnessing the Power of Chat GPT and AI for Effective Social Media Marketing

Harnessing the Power of Chat GPT and AI for Effective Social Media Marketing

Welcome back! It this episode, my  goal is to cut through the BS when it comes to AI and focus on creating genuine marketing strategies, and avoiding burnout and overwhelm.

    Here's a brief recap of today's episode:

What is Chat GPT and AI?

Chat GPT is an advanced language model powered by AI that generates human-like responses in text conversations.
It's a cutting-edge technology that understands context, generates creative content, and provides valuable insights.

Harnessing AI for Social Media Marketing:
    - there are endless opportunities AI presents for businesses, particularly in content creation and customer interactions.
    - let's chat about the time-saving aspect of AI, to eliminate the challenges of content creation overwhelm.

Three Cs of Chat GPT: Conversational, Context, and Commands and the importance of making instructions or commands within the conversation to get desired results.

Using Chat GPT for Social Media Content Creation:
    - the process of utilizing Chat GPT to generate social media captions and ideas.
    - generated content should  serve as inspiration and a starting point to customize and make it one's own.
    - experimentation and trying different commands to convert the generated content into blog posts, email newsletters, or podcast outlines is great practice!

    Prompts and Commands to Try:
    - the capabilities of Chat GPT, such as writing quotes, Instagram captions, headlines, and hashtags.
    - the importance of infusing one's voice, ideas, and experiences into the generated content to maintain authenticity.

    Ethics and Best Practices:
    - consider ethics and best practices when using AI in social media marketing.
    - don't simply copy & paste the generated content and encourages infusing personal brand voice and experiences into every piece of content.

So what do you think about AI and ChatGPT? Let me know by sending a DM to @angela.s.doyon on Instagram!

What are Instagram Threads and is it a good platform for your business?

What are Instagram Threads and is it a good platform for your business?

I'm here with a bonus episode to share my initial thoughts on Threads, the exciting new app from Instagram (now Meta). Now, I know what you might be thinking - not another social media app, right? But hear me out! Threads just launched about 24 hours ago, and it's already gaining momentum. I decided to dive right in and explore it for myself. So, in this episode, I'll give you a rundown of my first impressions and help you decide if Threads is worth your attention.

Threads, built by Instagram, is all about sharing text updates and sparking public conversations. If you've ever used Twitter, it has a similar vibe. Personally, I used to be on Twitter, but I found it too time-consuming. However, being heavily invested in Instagram, I was curious to see how Threads could benefit me. And let me tell you, I'm really digging it!

What I love about Threads is its focus on conversations. It's like a text thread with your friends, but on a larger scale. It's a great opportunity to start discussions, see what people are thinking, and react to their thoughts. Plus, there's way less pressure compared to Instagram, where you feel the need to have the perfect photo or video and stay on top of trends. Threads seems to downplay the importance of hashtags, which is refreshing.

Now, let's talk about some key features that make this new app awesome. Firstly, your posts on Threads can have up to 500 characters, giving you ample space to express your thoughts. You can also include links, which is something we've been missing in Instagram captions. So, directing people to specific links becomes effortless.

Another cool aspect is the ability to add photos and videos of up to five minutes long. This makes it easy to share quick information or create a blend of media, although it's not mandatory. That's what I really enjoy about Threads – you don't need visuals to participate. So, if your business revolves around conversations, education, sharing important information, or networking, Threads might be the perfect space for you.

Now, keep in mind that Threads may not be suitable for all businesses. If your brand heavily relies on visuals and storytelling through imagery and video, sticking to Instagram or exploring platforms like TikTok might be a better fit. However, if you're in a service-based industry like mine, where public conversations and networking are vital, Threads is definitely worth exploring alongside your existing Instagram presence.

Tell me - are you on Threads?

Community & Networking: How to Amplify Your Reach and Growth

Community & Networking: How to Amplify Your Reach and Growth

In today's episode,  I'm diving deep into the power of community. Whether you're a solopreneur, small business owner, or aspiring entrepreneur, building a community around your brand is a game-changer. It's like having a tribe of like-minded individuals cheering you on and propelling your success forward. So, let's explore the incredible perks and opportunities that come with fostering a strong community!

The first amazing benefit of community is the sense of belonging and loyalty it creates. When you cultivate a community, you create a safe space where people with shared interests and goals can come together. It's a place where they feel understood, supported, and inspired. Being part of a community gives individuals a sense of belonging that goes beyond simply being a customer.

And let's not forget about the incredible collaborative opportunities that come with a strong community. Community groups are not just a place for support; they're hubs of collaboration. Within these communities, you'll find individuals with diverse skills, experiences, and expertise. By tapping into this collective wisdom, you can unlock new perspectives, innovative ideas, and even potential collaborations.

Another key advantage of building a community is the valuable insights and feedback you can gain. Your community members can provide you with firsthand feedback on your products, services, or content. They can give you honest opinions, suggestions, and even help you identify areas for improvement. This feedback is pure gold as it helps you refine and enhance your offerings, ensuring they truly resonate with your target audience.

Last but not least, building a community is an excellent way to increase your brand awareness and credibility. When you have an engaged and active community, they become your brand advocates. They'll naturally share your content, recommend your products or services to others, and help spread the word about your brand. This word-of-mouth marketing is incredibly powerful and can significantly boost your visibility and credibility within your industry.

Now that we've explored the perks of community, let's shift gears and talk about networking. The first benefit of networking is the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and potential collaborators. Networking events, conferences, and industry gatherings are excellent platforms to meet people who share similar interests, passions, and goals. These connections can lead to collaborations, partnerships, and even lifelong friendships.

Networking also allows you to expand your knowledge and stay updated on industry trends. By engaging with other professionals and thought leaders in your field, you gain access to insights and information that can help you stay ahead of the game.

Another incredible perk of networking is the doors it can open to new business opportunities and partnerships. When you connect with like-minded individuals and industry leaders, you open yourself up to a world of possibilities.

So, how can you leverage your community and networking ef

Do you need to check your ego? Special Series Part 1 of 3

Do you need to check your ego? Special Series Part 1 of 3

I'm excited to share part one of this three part series all about Ego, Accountability and Recovery.

I recently had a really crummy experience at one of our favourite restaurants but instead of bitching about it and dwelling on it, I recognized a lot of lessons and can see the correlation between this experience and being a business owner.

In part one, I'm sharing my thoughts on ego and over confidence and when we need to check ourselves and possibly dial it back. How did this come to be? Let's just say, the server we had during our restaurant visit should probably listen to this episode because while I LOVE people who are confident, it doesn't necessarily mean you're acting competent.
