I started to be free when I realized the cage was made of thoughts!

I started to be free when I realized the cage was made of thoughts!

"I started to be free when I realized the cage was made of thoughts!" Unknown.  We create cages for ourselves from our robotic thinking, we aren't aware that we are trapped until we become aware of our thoughts and their patterns. We can free ourselves, but how?

Do you know what you are thinking right now? Many aren't, but it is that awareness that cuts the cage of robotic reactions that create our cage, that trap us. Most of us are living in a cage of robotic reactions, which just go round and round. Push my button and I will react and think in the same pattern  every time. What can we do to free ourselves and why is it important to the quality of our life? Let's chat!

We don't need to struggle and suffer, we can use our problems to find awakening and joy.

We don't need to struggle and suffer, we can use our problems to find awakening and joy.

We don't need to suffer, we can use techniques, meditations, and tools, that can enable us to move beyond struggle and suffering, no matter what is happening in our lives.

Pema Chodron in her book, "When things fall apart. Heart advise for difficult times," is a great book to sit with.

"The next time you lose heart and you can’t bear to experience what you’re feeling, you might recall this instruction: change the way you see it and lean in. Instead of blaming our discomfort on outer circumstances or on our own weakness, we can choose to stay present and awake to our experience, not rejecting it, not grasping it, not buying the stories that we relentlessly tell ourselves. This is priceless advice that addresses the true cause of suffering—yours, mine, and that of all living beings.

When we resist change, it's called suffering.

The root of suffering is resisting the certainty that no matter what the circumstances uncertainty is all we truly have.

Creativity, how it can change yoru life and howyou can open it now.

Creativity, how it can change yoru life and howyou can open it now.

Opening to our creativity opens us and empowers us. The artist Picasso said, "The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls." You can be creative, let's explore and ponder how!

Maya Angelou, "We are all creative, but by the time we are three or four years old, someone has knocked the creativity out of us. Some people shut up the kids who start to tell stories. Kids dance in their cribs, but someone will insist they sit still. By the time creative people are ten or twelve, they want to be like everyone else." When we lose creativity, we lose a vital part of who we truly are.

The artist Picasso said, "The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls." "The chief enemy of creativity is 'good' sense.”All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up. ” "To draw you must close your eyes and sing."

"You are not your body; you are not your brain, not even your mind. You are Spirit. All you have to do is reawaken to the memory, to remember."

    Brian Weiss

    Many believe different things

The Hindu religion has for thousands of years believed their teachings of reincarnation.

"Reincarnation is a key belief within Hinduism. In Hinduism, all life goes through birth, life, death, and rebirth and this is known as the cycle of samsara. According to this belief, all living things have an atman, which is a piece of Brahman, or a spirit or soul. It is the atman that moves on into a new body after death."

We're just all walking each other home. Ramm Dass

We're just all walking each other home. Ramm Dass

After all, we're just walking each other home." (quote from Ram Dass) We're all going to the same place, and we're all on a path. Sometimes our paths converge. Sometimes they separate, and we can hardly see each other, much less hear each other. But on the good days, we're walking on the same path, close together, and we're walking each other home.

We are a part of incredible vast whole, which is a part of an even greater beyond whole. Being born and dying is an infinitesimal part of this whole.

"If your everyday practice is to open to all your emotions, to all the people you meet, to all the situations you encounter, without closing down, trusting that you can do that — then that will take you as far as you can go. And then you'll understand all the teachings that anyone has ever taught." Pema Chodron

How an end can become an adventure

How an end can become an adventure

How can an  end can become an adventure: "Never give up - investigate," the Dalai Lama.

What can we do when we seem to be facing an end in our life, the end of a relationship, a job, even death the end of our body?

The photo is of her road into the canyon.

Jill shares how she is managing the disastrous floods and road washing away in the canyon she lives in and how she and her husband, both in their late seventies, are facing this adventure. Jill realized through this that she isn't dying from cancer but rather that she is living with cancer. A powerful realization.

Jill also chats about making New Year resolutions and how they can make us despondent when we can't or don't achieve them. So she suggests that rather than making a weight loss resolution eg, resolve to be stronger and healthier.

What is a sweat lodge? Transformational experience.

What is a sweat lodge? Transformational experience.

What is a Sweat Lodge? Why is it so transformational? How can I do one, and why is it so powerful? A sweat lodge ceremony is a spiritual and physical cleansing ritual from ancient times. Most Native American or First People Tribes have used a similar procedure for thousands of years in the Americas.

This is a place to surrender and to pray in whatever is the most healing and beautiful way for each person. This can be a most powerful and transformational experience when run by an experienced and trained individual. Sitting in the covered Sweat Lodge, we energetically enter the center of the earth and can have profound and powerful life changing experiences. life-changing

I don’t know what good it is to know so much and be smart as whips and all if it doesn’t make you happy. J.D. Salinger. Why do is intelligence so edified? There are so many forms of intelligence, which ones make us happy? Intelligence is thinking, reasoning, and understanding instead of just doing things automatically or by instinct. EQ or emotional intelligence is the ability to have some self-awareness and respond instead of reacting robotically. Let's explore different kinds of intelligence and how and why we react to them differently. How can we focus on the value of the person without placing values on them according to their IQs?

Hate - Why is there hatred?

Hate - Why is there hatred?

Why is there hatred? How can we move beyond that and how can we deal with others hating something about us, our family, or anyone or anything else?

How does hate grow and develop? What can we do to change, cope with or transform this hatred in our culture? When we don't know who we are we will polarize and begin to think that our way is the only way. What can we do to find out who we are and move beyond hate?  The news adds to this polarization, so perhaps we need to question the news. The answer ist o find the love that we are and make choces that come from that love.

Do what you love Warren Buffet

Do what you love Warren Buffet

Do what you love and everything else will follow. Warren Buffet. When we can do what we love, even if it's just in our spare time, it energizes and inspires us. We feel more alive and more present in our lives.  So many of us are doing what we feel we have to and as we live our life part of us begins to get covered up with 'I have to. Slowly we forget what we love and who we are, then when we retire, we don't know what we love anymore.  Today begin to ponder 'what I love.?' Then incorporate a little into your life each week. What you love might change often for awhile and that's great. You'll begin to feel more alive and joyous as the weeks go by. Just begin now and it will change your inner and outer life.

Choices. How to accept and own the choices we make.

Choices. How to accept and own the choices we make.

We are making choices almost every minute! Large and small ones, are these our choices, or are they made from programming from our past? How can we realize how to truly make our own choices, free from our past? Let's explore.

So often, it's easy to blame others for our choices; let's explore how we can take full responsibility for them without blaming ourselves. We find enormous freedom when we make conscious choices from now, rather than from past programming.  In every minute of the day, we are making choices. Do I have coffee or tea? Do I want to answer this call? or large ones like do I stay in this job? Become conscious today about how you make choices and make them consciously! Make sure it's your choice!

Expectations. Why do they trap us?

Expectations. Why do they trap us?

Expectations can trap and cripple us. They can make us struggle, break up relationships, and generally make us suffer. So what can we do to move beyond our expectations to find more peace and harmony in our lives? We chat about how we can do this. Join us for a discussion about expectations and freeing us from them.

This is what so many wise ones have said about expectations!,

The Dali Lama suggests that if we, let go of expectations, we can more readily experience peace.

Everyone dies but not everyone lives.

Everyone dies but not everyone lives.

Doctor Malhotra a doctor in palliative care, shares that if we allow it, death can be our greatest teacher. It has a way of putting things into perspective and making us question our priorities. For me, working in palliative care has been a powerful reminder of what really matters in life. I hope that sharing some of the most common regrets of my patient's, it will inspire you to live life with no regrets. Dr Simran Malhotra

In hearing about the regrets of her patients, Dr. Malhotra says there is a lot we can learn from their lived experiences. "Make time for your loved ones and don't take them for granted," she states. "Life is short, and you never know when it will be your last day with someone."

Check out your life and ask, "If I died today, have I really lived?" Check-in with yourself  each month and ask that question and take steps to move towards the life you want. It might be in a small way, to begin with. Take the first step today.,

Why do we polarize our beliefs and ideas in times of crisis?

Why do we polarize our beliefs and ideas in times of crisis?

Why do we polarize our beliefs and ideas in times of crisis? Rather than getting into arguments, we could honor that, but still do what is right for us. We polarize when we are fearful, and we can be very angry and aggressive in times of crisis. If we are asking someone to be different and thinking that they are wrong...can we be flexible and allow others to have their ways and beliefs and be comfortable in our ideas and beliefs. Let's also look at the difference between my truth and obligation.

Esther Hicks. "Anytime you feel negative emotion, stop and say: Something is important here, otherwise I would not be feeling this negative emotion. What is it that I want?’ And then simply turn your attention to what you DO want.

Esther Hicks. "Anytime you feel negative emotion, stop and say: Something is important here, otherwise I would not be feeling this negative emotion. What is it that I want?’ And then simply turn your attention to what you DO want. In the moment that you turn your attention to what you want, the negative attraction will stop, and in the moment the negative attraction stops, the positive attraction will begin. And in that moment, your feelings will change from not feeling good to feeling good."

How can we move beyond all of the "old stuff" and see everyone and everything through clear eyes? How do we listen with fresh eyes and see with fresh eyes? Let's find our how to witness what is happening and speak with clarity and awareness?Rather than going into what we don't want, we can ask ourselves...What do we want and focus on that!

Covid has given us time to re-look at our lives and determine what we have in our lives that is negative and turn them into positives. Build love compassion and kindness. We can turn it all around.

As you realize that you are responsible for your reactions in any moment, others will cease to have any power or control over you. Wayne Dyer

How can we take responsibility for our reactions, without feeling that we are wrong, or judging ourselves. It enables us to feel free and unchained.  Can we push the pause button and take ownership of ourselves and the best way to do this is to respond rather than react. Why do we react more to this we love? Let's explore how we can do this?
