    Weight loss can be a tricky thing for a lot of people because it is hormonal based.  If you want to lose weight there are 3 phases to doing it in a healthy way. The first phase is the transition to restore metabolism. Once that is established then the second phase is when the body starts losing weight. The third and final step is to maintain optimal health and keep the weight off. Dr. Armitstead explains in this podcast how your hormones will change in response to the nutrition and lifestyle changes that you'll make. Your body will also rebuild at the cellular level with nutrients that were not available during previous poor habits. The more damaged the current metabolism, the longer it will take for this process to be complete. Once someone has healed their metabolism, only then they are primed to lose fat and move on to phase two.  You will learn why some people take longer than others to lose weight.  Those that take the longest are said to be weight loss resistant.

    How to Get Healthy Post COVID

    Unfortunately with Omicron Dr. Armitstead has now seen enough post-COVID patients from various strains to create this podcast.  Good news is if you have gotten COVID and still feel off in any way she has some health tips to help you feel like your old self again.  

    Post COVID or long haul COVID are the terms used when symptoms or signs persist for more than two weeks after COVID-19 onset.  Dr. Armitstead explains that symptoms can continue for months after and include fatigue, headaches, poor focus or attention, shortness of breath, and so much more.  Symptoms after having COVID-19 continue after the initial infection because the SARS-CoV-2 virus goes into the body causing more inflammation than the average virus.  The number one place that inflammation hits is the air ways and lungs because that’s how it gets into the body. Then Dr. Armitstead explains that the second place this virus hits is the liver and things you can do to boost up your immune system to reduce the inflammation while supporting the lungs and liver.  She also shares that the SARS-CoV-2 virus attacks the liver similar to the way the Epstein Barr virus (EBV) does to the liver and how they both attack the thyroid as well.  So please listen to this episode if you have a thyroid imbalance,  especially Hashimoto's, liver concerns or any other autoimmune disease for Dr. Armitstead shares her theory of all autoimmune diseases and it's not what you think.

    If you want to learn about what foods to eat for optimal health this is the second part of a podcast that gives details on how to do just that.  Dr. Armitstead explains what cow milk is the healthiest and the need to avoid soy and corn in your diet.  It's trickier than you think! She also explains how if you don't eat specific for your body type then leaky gut and food sensitivities can occur.  Lectins in food can be a cause of leaky gut.  She shares with you what foods to avoid when eating lectin-free and why it's best to get muscle tested to see what specific foods are  bothering you.  Lastly, she talks about the health benefits of chocolate and which chocolate is healthiest to eat.

    Who doesn’t love to sweat out toxins for better health?  Dry saunas and steam rooms have been used for centuries to help people feel better not just by the relaxation but by the heat allowing one to sweat out toxins and boost the immune system.  In this episode Dr. Armitstead explains what ozone is and how sitting in a personal steam pod that is mixed with ozone is the ultimate way to not only sweat out toxins but to also put extra oxygen in the body.   Ozone is a colorless gas made up of three atoms of oxygen (O3).  The oxygen in the air is O2 so when ozone gets absorbed into the body the extra oxygen atom easy breaks off and bonds to where it is needed in the body.  Your body can benefit in all sorts of ways if it has extra oxygen.  To help detox, Dr. Armitstead explains that the extra oxygen molecule bonds with sulphur compounds the way glutathione does.  In this way ozone helps take the burden off the liver by binding to toxic substances making them neutral in the body and no longer a toxin.  It also breaks up lactic acid, increases cellular respiration in muscles, speeds up recovery of damaged tissue and accelerates growth of muscle for those who have tight, sore muscles.     PEMF is an acronym for Pulsed Electro-Magnetic Field. PEMF therapy consists of a mat which emits pulses of energy waves.  Dr. Armitstead explains in this episode that PEMF energy courses through the body directly to inflamed or injured areas. The energy is also drawn to areas experiencing chronic pain.  The energy waves of the PEMF mat passes through the organs and tissues and into the cells of your body, amplifying the cellular energy. The increase in energy promotes a natural reaction that regenerates and enhances the efficiency of the cell’s function. This natural process stimulates healing and helps to improve your overall well-being including your mood.
