BOOZE-FREE MAY-BE*
I have been thinking about this a while and have decided that for the next month I am going to go alcohol-free*. I am calling it ‘Booze-Free May-Be’ and my reasons are 1 & many.
#1. I am keen to reset my relationship with alcohol.
The Many (& side benefits to name but a few):
- Health & Wellness - I exercise a shit-ton and have in fact lost 5kg in the past 5-6 months. It makes me wonder how I'll look and feel without alcohol.
- Financial - obvs.
- Productivity - you've no doubt seen and heard me tell you what I achieve. Unbeknownst to most, I have set some hefty goals for myself over the past 4-5 months. Imagine a version of me and what I can achieve with better sleep and more energy!
I am not posting this to impress anyone, that I think that a break from booze is special or that I am smashing a high volume of beers on a daily basis (okay that happens occasionally and definitely more-so on weekends ), however it has become all too easy for me to have a beer whenever I want and I generally have at least a couple every day.
I am in fact posting this as I want to be accountable to myself and from experience the best way to do it is to make yourself accountable to others. An entrepreneur that I interviewed once whilst studying a Masters of Entrepreneurship & Innovation**, by the name of Tom O'Toole, coined one of my favourite phrases that I've learned from someone else #DreamsWithDates. If you say it out loud, put a date/timeline on it and ensure that other people hear it, then you're accountable to them and to yourself to make it so!
I'm going to journal this for myself and record a podcast or two for the benefit of others. Let's do this!

212 MARKETING FAIL: "I will give you exposure" - Solocast
Today’s solocast podcast comes in 3 parts:
- MARKETING FAIL: "I will give you exposure”.
- Crediting creative works - photography, videography and artwork.
- ANZAC Day. Learning about ANZAC Day as an Australian. What you can do.
"I will give you exposure”. Epic fail!
On today’s show I’m going to dive into one of the phrases I loathe most in the creative services industry and the English language "I will give you exposure”.
We cover off on the need for festivals/events, brands and anyone in the need for creative services, who might have little to no budget, to respect to time and value of creative. I also provide creatives with the top tips on how to ensure you give your time and experience value, when to say yes and when to say no to helping out people, brands or organisations who want your time for nothing.
Crediting creative works - photography, videography and artwork.
Part II of the show discusses the need for influencers, brands and anyone publishing the work of creatives, no matter what their creative skill level, to provide artistic credit for any works posted online and what it ultimately means for any photographers, videographers and others in the creative/artistic industries.
I also provide creatives with key advice and ways to ensure that you are credited for your work.
Learning about ANZAC Day as an Australian. What you can do.
The shortest part and the cherry on top of today’s show, we touch on the history of ANZAC Day, what it means to me and how you can get involved.
211 BentSpoke Brewing Co - Richard Watkins (Head Brewer & Co-Founder)
210 Street Artist NOT NOT - Cam Scott - Street Art & Social Media.
Bondi Beach-based street artist NOT NOT aka Cam Scott captured my attention and imagination last year with 'Digital Realities’ - his thought provoking street art series designed to have us individually to consider the impact of the behaviours and addictions that the major platforms and mobile phone technology are creating, breeding and feeding in society and our everyday lives.
From our digital selves to clickbait compulsions, this is a fascinating exploration into the digital world and I loved having him on the show! We share our own individual techniques that we use for regular digital escape, Centre for Humane Technology’s approach to ‘“realigning technology with humanity’s best interests, the LIKE IRL project, how Cam Scott came to create his Sunnys Eyewear brand, ‘In Praise of Idleness’ and NOT NOT’s 2 key pieces of advice that he'd give to someone who has a dream, but is afraid to take that first step.
Super inspiring and fascinating chats with a highly intelligent, genuine, thoughtful and personable individual. I hope that you enjoy it as much as I do!

203 Summer Series ReCast - Michael 'Monte' Tramonte - The Delta Riggs
Boom! One of THE best podcasts that I’ve ever recorded and kick-ass chats with bass player of The Delta Riggs, Michael ‘Monte’ Tramonte.
We launch The Delta Riggs brand new single ‘Fake That’ and spend most of the show wading through the making Calabrese salami, Irish whiskey, Middletons & Matthew Broderick, the best pizza in Sydney, top tips for interview techniques when chatting to musos, travelling to Italy, Jim Jefferies and Brad Pitt as the weather man and so much more.
Downright hilarious and tangent-central, just dripping with banter, THIS is the podcast that you do not want to miss!
202 Summer Series ReCast - Jason Havey – Spinning Logic, Iowaska in Peru & Blackhawk Military Intelligence Analyst
Entrepreneurship Podcast Feature: Jason Havey - Spinning Logic, Iowaska in Peru & Blackhawk Military Intelligence Analyst.
Much like myself, Jason Havey has lived a super interesting life, rich with amazing experiences. A successful businessman, Jason is the COO of Onnit Labs global health and wellness brand, formerly an award winning Hotelier with 16 years of experience, most recently as General Manager of both the Hilton Madison Monona Terrace and the Sheraton Madison at the same time and originally an infantry mortarman, which eventually lead to him becoming a Military Intelligence Analyst for a Blackhawk helicopter unit.
This has honestly been one of the most fascinating explorations of another person’s life that I’ve ever had the pleasure of featuring on the Hot & Delicious: Rocks The Planet! podcast.
We cover a vast array of subject matter from growing up super poor in Wisconsin as the child of a single mother, surviving a horrific car crash, breaking 3 vertebrae and having to learn how to walk again, the impact that float tanks make to how he operates, taking Iowaska in Peru not once, but twice, Reverend Jim Jones and the Jonestown massacre in Guatemala, being taken far outside his comfort zone and feeling like his eyes were opened for the first time the jungles of Central America during his military service and the joys of becoming a bone marrow donor and the privilege of being able to save the life of another person.
This Wisconsin native now resides in Austin (Texas) and for the past 3 years Jason has been the host of the Spinning Logic Podcast with over 150 episodes to date, where the goal of Spinning Logic is to thread together the unique stories of unique guests and to celebrate the vast array of people that represent humankind.
Jason Havey is an aggressive optimist, who believes strongly in the power of the individual to improve themselves and thus, the world. He also believes in the beauty of all things he finds true joy in interacting with unique individuals, places, events and stories.

200 Joe Tucker (RateBeer Craft Beer App Owner)
Wow… my mind is BLOWN! 4 years later and we hit 200 episodes of the Hot & Delicious: Rocks The Planet! podcast!
This week I have special guest RateBeer Craft Beer App Owner Joe Tucker on the show as they introduce their app into the Australian market launch parties in Melbourne and Sydney.
ZX Ventures, AB InBev’s global growth and innovation division, invested in RateBeer two years ago, $2M dollars in technology and the hiring of an Australian team to help drive the evolution of the global product and it is is a world site for craft beer enthusiasts and is dedicated to serving the entire craft beer community through beer education, promotion and outreach.
Essentially, Australians will be able to buy “rare and highly-rated” beers through retail partners via the website, with additional enhancements including the introduction of push notifications and a clearer rate and review system.
Australia is RateBeer’s fourth biggest market globally, which Mitchell believes makes it the perfect testing ground for the new developments. The company already has over 10,000 Australian beers logged from hundreds of breweries.
Let’s get into the show!

199 Recorded Live at Spark Festival - "Social Media for Business - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly"
198 Choose Day x hotndelicious x Secret Men's Business on Bondi Radio.
Have you ever desired a life of more financial freedom, pursuing a life work balance that you believe you can have and being the best person you could be for yourself and the people around you?
WICKED Entrepreneurship & Leadership Choose Day radio show recorded yesterday at The Bucketlist Bondi on Bondi Radio with my home-boys Stacy Henderson (POVAR) and Seth Lawrence (Secret Men’s Business) LIVE on Bondi Radio, whilst watching the blue green waves roll in at Bondi Beach. And I loved it so much that we decided to release it as a podcast!
The conversation flows and as always we go on a number of tangents:
- Early in the show Stacy and I talk openly about how we’re both looking to re-position ourselves professionally, striving for more financial freedom in life, creating a career for yourself based on what you love, what you’re good at and what you want out of life.
- Seth Lawrence speaks in depth about Men’s Mental Health and his current path of "helping a lot of men (and women) in our communities understand and feel their emotions, move through and release them rather than suppression" which in his belief leads to depression, suicide, drug and alcohol abuse, domestic violence etc. His training has helped him to let go of a lot of negative thoughts, beliefs and patterns that no longer serve him and it has allowed Seth to establish a deeper connection with himself and others.
- I face a few demons of my own on the Choose Day show and share with the boys the steps I took from having no confidence as a kid to being someone that I’m proud of and I love.
- We share a few top tips for anyone craving to pursue a new career that they’re passionate about.
- Yoga, meditation and we of course wax lyrical about life in Bondi Beach.
Super chats and I hope that this radio show podcast puts a smile on your face and makes your heart soar as much as it does mine!
