S01.E02 – Brandon Part 2: Filling in the gaps

In this episode (Filling in the gaps), I explore how social media and friends can impact your relationship. I continue my conversation from episode 1 with a friend, who's been recently married, and examine his journey towards marriage.

We discuss the desires in men that never go away while exploring the adjustments that are required to make a relationship work. We examine the general concept of a proposal and how men may view it different than women. We talk about how past experience influences behavior as well as how the fear of losing control impacts how men see relationships and commitment. We also highlight the different attributes found in a good wife versus a good mother and which one’s men place a higher value on. Lastly, a case is made for why your wife cannot be your best friend.

    S00.E01 - Prelude and introduction

    S00.E01 - Prelude and introduction

In this prelude episode, I introduce myself as your host and provide insight to the catalyst for creating the I Think I Love My Wife (ThinkLoveWife) podcast.

In my journey to seeking relationship advice, I realized how important it is to seek counsel from people that are currently married. It also made me realize the void there is when it comes to getting the perspectives of married men of color, especially married Black men.

My goal is to have honest, real, and authentic conversations with married men about relationships (the challenges they've faced and how they've overcome them), their journey to proposing, the pressures we put on ourselves as men, and those that come from societal norms and generational expectations. In this episode, I also explain the meaning behind the podcast's name, my intentions for this podcast, and the expected structure of it.
