    Rewrite Your Money Story!

    Rewrite Your Money Story!

    In this episode:

We're not taught about money. Whether male or female, where we're not taught in school. We're usually not taught at home so we don't have a foundation on which to really play some competence.

What we're getting taught about money is what we're told and what we're shown usually by our parents. We either do what our parents did, which could be good or bad, or we did the exact opposite.

Did you know 90 percent of women have a fear that they're going to end up homeless and be a bag lady? The time is now to change women’s perception around money and the idea of shame.

We can actually save too much. This can happen when we’re saving or we're not spending and the reason is coming from a place of fear or scarcity or that we don't feel secure.

We've got to figure out what our triggers are, what is that story that we're telling ourselves around money and change that, because just getting out of debt or figure out a budget isn't enough. That's why athletes go bankrupt. That's why millionaire winners lose all their money. And that's why the average American racks up all their debt, pays it off, and then racks it back up again is because we're only treating the symptoms. We're not treating the issue, which is our mindset in this story we tell ourselves.

Go out and try and find the best way to educate and inform yourself about money.

    Takeaways:

What I find is, we really like to avoid looking at our money. It's there's shame around it. There's guilt. We are brilliant, smart women that have 15 million other things that we need to do. So looking at our numbers kind of as the last thing that we want to do. So what I encourage someone to do is sit down at the end of the day without distractions. Have a glass of wine or three. And then really think about what was a really tough money experience that you went through and just write it all out. Write down all the details. No. Why did you go through this? What did you learn from it and what can you do differently? And I think by just facing some of these things a little bit at a time, you'll start to release that guilt and shame around these different money experiences.

You need to really look at who you're taking money advice from. Like dating advice. You're not going to ask for dating advice from your friend that's been divorced seven times and has a string of first dates. So just like with your money, you don't want to ask somebody that you know is living paycheck to paycheck, drowning in debt and doesn't know how they're going to pay their next bill.

Note to Self: Forgive yourself for you money mistakes. The shame is not serving you.

Healing Your Heart From The Inside Out

Healing Your Heart From The Inside Out

Jaquelyn is the Founder of Heartwood Healing, Heartwood Sanctuary and the Creator of the Heartwood Self Mastery program. A motivational speaker and writer of 14 books and Co-Founder of Healing Words television show. We know each other because we worked together on a really fun project for Weight Watchers International and we really developed a really nice intersection between personal and business growth.

What does healing from the heart mean to you?

Healing modalities that help learn how to master yourself from the inside out and heal yourself from the inside out

Mindlessness if effort. You want to it because it feels so good to do it

One of the things that is so critical to self care and to really understanding the heart is is looking at the science behind the fact we are not this separate thing. Scientists like to break us into two in the healthcare world. We're not a brain and a body. We're not a brain and emotions and a body. We are all one integrated human that evolved to this place in order to have emotions for a purpose and we have you know we our body tell it talks to us all of the time

Figure out the trigger that leads to bad behavior and then replace the behavior to a new and more positive behavior.

The Heartwood Sanctuary is an online membership and an online oasis for rest, restoration and rejuvenation.

The moments of our lives are opportunities to learn something valuable about ourselves. Instead, we often take them for granted and waste them on negative, unproductive thoughts.

Mindfulness keeps us present and aware. It provides a pathway to experiencing an expansiveness that gives us a feeling of oneness with the world.

Mindfulness is the gift that keeps on giving

Daydreaming isn’t doing something wrong. It sparks creativity.

Present Moment Breaks - Mindfulness that you can do anytime - anywhere.

    MEET BRANDY AMIDON

It’s not every day that you meet a woman who was a CFO before the age of 30. A councilwoman by age 27. And the first female mayor of her hometown by age 35. And now? She's Co-President of the Company she CFO's.

An achiever by nature, Brandy earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from North Greenville University in two and a half years – with honors. After graduation, Brandy began a career in corporate banking and taxation, but soon found herself longing for more personal connection. She loved what she was doing, but wanted to find a way to integrate a human element into her work. Tapping her entrepreneurial spirit, Brandy began working with small businesses (including Brains On Fire), as a for-hire CFO. She helped alleviate the burdens of money management and financial planning for small business owners so they could focus their energy on what they were good at – leading a team, serving their clients and running a company.

If CFO-ing wasn’t enough, Brandy has always been passionate about paying it forward, giving back and improving the world around her – starting with her hometown. In 2009, she ran for City Council in Travelers Rest, South Carolina. Her win made her the youngest councilwoman in the city’s history. Brandy served three terms on City Council, during which time she advocated for local businesses, promoted the city’s sustainable growth, championed an environmental wellness program and provided budgetary guidance to ensure the city’s long-term viability. In 2018, Brandy was elected Mayor, becoming the first female mayor in Travelers Rest’s over 100 year history.

And did we mention she does all of this around her at-home roles of wife and mom?

    Turning the Tables

    Turning the Tables

Sometimes you have to turn the tables on yourself to see yourself more clearly. I’ve been doing alot of soul searching lately. I had a moment of clarity which made me sad. It was time to admit I was back in my “spot’ again. All work. No Play. Self imposed isolation and living but lacking joy. How did I get here again? How to I get out of it again? Getting Raw.Unfiltered and Real with myself and others.

Relying on your friends to pull you out of a tough spot has always worked for me. This is why I had my longtime girlfriend, Kyle Young, interview me for this episode. I asked her to ask me the tough questions so you could get even deeper insight into my obstacles, my hurdles and what I’ve been doing to keep growing through them.

Here are just a few of the things she opens up for me...

Why are you reversing roles and having me interview you?

Why the shift in the Journey to There podcast?

Tell me why Raw. Unfiltered. Real is so important to you now?

If you had super powers... what is the one thing about your life you do differently?

How do you define success? Are you successful by that definition?

Deep Listening with guest Oscar Trimboli

Deep Listening with guest Oscar Trimboli

    In this episode:

Oscar Trimboli, Author of Deep Listening & Breakthroughs, Professional Speaker, Mentor and Director Microsoft Office Division Australia shares impactful insights on the power of deep listening.

    Listen even when you disagree.
Their pause is the most critical moment your listening.
The speaker is NOT the most important person in the conversation.

4 Habits that derail you from being a great listener

    1. Lost Listener
    2. Shrewd Listener
    3. Interrupting Listener
    4. Dramatic Listener

Understanding Power and the 125-400 listening rule

This is the first ingredient in the recipe of deep listening. The reason why it’s critical to pay attention and listen completely including the pauses, the silence and thoughtful moments in a discussion is because of the simple maths between speaking and hearing.

Although you can think at 400 words per minute, you can only speak at between 125-175 words per minute. (Carver, Johnson, & Friedman, 1970).

Words don’t matter when  you deeply listen

Relationship Magic with guest Guy Finley

    In this episode:

    Relationship Magic; Waking Up Together

Guy reveals a BIG secret that is not in his “BIO” about his experiences in the music industry.

The most abundant resource on this planet is our relationships.

    How patterns impact our relationships.

Relationships are the basis of the important revelations we have about ourselves.

Love is far more important than my past.

    Love is present.

Love does not harm another human being.

Love does not bring back old issues to prove they exist.

When we fight with our significant others it is because we are both in pain.

It’s the pain that picks the fight.

You are not responsible for my feelings.

The real addiction is to the false sense of self.

When it comes to workaholism...We become slaves to the accolades. Our false sense of self is what turns us into the slaves and takes what we love and turn it into our own prisons.

    Why do we feel alone?

Have you ever felt alone when you are  inside a relationship?

    Traci's Takeaways:

The story is the same the details are different...Until you recognize how to change the patterns.
    ~ Traci DeForge

Relationships get stale because we stop communicating with each other about the truth that has brought us together to begin with.

Pay attention to your words. Filler words and statements like “I feel like…” I just need a minute of your time” and “In my opinion…” can diminish the value of what you’re saying!

Don’t let negative self talk keep you from talking with confidence. There is a big difference between being humble and over apologizing.
