Episode 10 - A Conversation with Tim Brown

Episode 10 - A Conversation with Tim Brown

From his hometown of Dallas, to college football at Notre Dame, to a record-breaking career in the NFL out west in California, and back home to Texas, Tim Brown’s journey is one that few can match. It all started at Woodrow Wilson High School, the only public high school in America with two graduates who became Heisman Trophy winners, Davey O’Brien of TCU in 1938 and Tim Brown in 1987. From there, it was on to the pros and a record-breaking career with the Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders, before heading back to where it all started. Along the way, Tim would be elected to the College Football Hall of Fame and become one of only nine players in the history of football to win the Heisman and be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Tim talks sports at all levels in our conversation, but, it might have been what he shared about life off the field that was most intriguing, interesting and impactful. From the countless hours spent with young people through mentoring and educational programs, all the while sharing the importance and his commitment to Christianity and the role it plays in his daily life, as he continues to be a difference maker in our world.

Episode 8 - A Conversation with Rolando Blackman

Episode 8 - A Conversation with Rolando Blackman

In a most engaging conversation on the latest episode of Leadership America Podcast, Former NBA Dallas Maverick, Rolando Blackman, talks with Scott & Angel not only about his All-Star career, but, also focuses on the importance of both leadership and mentorship and his involvement as a Global United Nations Ambassador throughout the world. Ro shares his plans of developing a number of educational facilities for pre-school and elementary school age students worldwide, focusing on the significance of curiosity in a young person’s life. In addition, Ro addresses a loving and caring family environment and how impactful they can be coupled with morality in the growing years of a child. His philanthropic legacy is one we can all take part in and be inspired by his desire to make a difference in the lives of those that need it most.

It’s often been said that the only reason Rolando Blackman is not in the Hall of Fame is because of his commitment to being the ultimate team player. A true champion of change, Ro’s journey to success began when he was drafted in 1981 as the first round pick of the Dallas Mavericks. Ro is presently the second-leading scorer in Mavericks’ history, trailing only Dirk Nowitzki. The Mavericks retired his No. 22 jersey in 2011, one of only three players to be so honored, joining former teammates Brad Davis and Derek Harper. Following his 11 years with the Mavericks and two more with the N.Y. Knicks, Ro stayed involved with the game as both a broadcaster and assistant coach and front office director with the Mavs. Whether you’re a basketball fan or a leadership enthusiast, you’ll enjoy hearing from this rock star sports legend.

Episode 7 - A Conversation with Drew Pearson

Episode 7 - A Conversation with Drew Pearson

If you’re a football fan, then you’ll want to tune-in to this episode of Leadership America!  The legendary Drew Pearson joins Scott and Angel in a conversation about his incredible career in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys and beyond.

In this podcast, Drew was flawless in delivering an inspiring message while catching every verbal pass Scott and Angel tossed his way. Drew shares the highlights of his 11-year career and goes into great detail about what actually took place on the field that iconic day he caught the infamous 50-yard “Hail Mary” catch from Hall of Famer, Roger Staubach.  That play made history as it stole a playoff victory over the Vikings in Minnesota. That's where the term "Hail Mary" was born, exactly 45 years ago this month, on December 28, 1975. He'd go on to become a Super Bowl Champion, become a member of the Cowboys illustrious Ring of Honor at AT&T Stadium and be elected to the NFL 1970's All-Decade Team

But, without a doubt, the proudest and fondest moment of his incredible career, should take place in Canton, Ohio in the summer of 2021, when "Mr. Clutch" can join a select group of his former teammates, having been selected as the Senior Finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Class of 2021.

Get to know Drew Pearson today as we engage in a dynamic dialogue with one of the greats!

Some fun facts about Drew Pearson’s journey to success:

    - Drew Pearson began his football career at South River High School in New Jersey, as one of the wide receivers of future Super Bowl Champion quarterback, Joe Theismann.

    - As a junior, Drew succeeded Theismann as the starting quarterback. From there it was on to Tulsa University where he received a football scholarship.

    - In 1973, he was selected by the Dallas Cowboys as a free agent, who'd go on to become one of the greatest wide receivers in the history of the NFL.

    - Collegiately, he was inducted into the Tulsa Athletics Hall of Fame and is a recipient of the University's President's Award as the team's "best spirited and most unselfish" member.

    - Drew is known as the "Original #88" - Others that have followed to wear the coveted number 88 are Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin, star receiver Dez Bryant and the Cowboys current #88, CeeDee Lamb.

    - Since retirement from football, Drew has been involved in sports broadcasting and also served as the CEO of Drew Pearson Companies, a manufacturer of licensed headwear since 1985.
