Let’s Talk About Woo

In this episode I wanted to talk about the importance of learning to accept every part of yourself in order to feel truly at peace.

When I was a Singer years back, I developed an alter-ego to help me cope with the anxiety of performing live.  I called her Lilli and every time I would sing I would dress as my alter-ego, I would do my hair and make-up in the way I had always wanted to as Elizabeth but had never felt able.

Slowly over time I began to morph into the alter-ego I had created for myself.  I just became more confident, more self-assured and less bothered by the opinions of others.  But sitting in the background was still that shy, unsure, bullied version of me.  And for years I tried to ignore her because I couldn't understand what she was bringing to the table.

It's important that we embrace ALL parts of ourselves if we are going to feel truly happy and at peace.  I hope this episode helps and as always I would love to hear from you.

In this episode I wanted to speak about joy as it seems to be something that so many of us are seeking and yet so few of us actually feel we have access to.

I haven't achieved half of the huge accolades that others share on social media, but one thing I can tell you is that I experience joy in my life DAILY.  I have formed the habit of seeking joy in the most simple of things and noticing where it already exists all around me.  I no longer look for this outside of myself.  I know it comes from my own perception of what is.

Wooo!!!  This question blew UP in the facebook group earlier today when I posted it!

I was asking the question because after asking a different question about why business can feel so hard even when it's soul-aligned, someone responded saying it's hard because we shouldn't charge for our spiritual gifts!!

Cue multiple replies from lot's of people with plenty to say on that subject!

I had a lot to say as well and originally I had recorded this soundbite to share in the chat thread.  But when I couldn't get it to load in there, I decided to create an episode out of it on here instead!

So what do you think?  Should we be charging for our spiritual gifts?  Or should we be willing to give them away for free?

I should point out that I don't believe there is a right and wrong.  There is only what feels right for each individual.  But this question did open up a bigger conversation around why so many healers could be struggling to market themselves.

In this episode I talk all about the change we are feeling called to create in the world and how so many of us have believed that we must first overcome all of our own struggles before we can help anyone else.

I had an epiphany fairly recently where I realised that rather than waiting until I had completely ovecome my own personal issues, I could actually lead FROM that place!  Of course I don't mean trying to be something you're not or deceiving people, but I think when we are open and honest about what we are navigating in the moment, we draw our people around us and then together we all rise and are able to move forward.

Oof it's a biggie this week!  I wasn't sure I was going to record this episode.  Part of me didn't want to get involved in the conversation or energy of this topic, but a bigger part of me wanted to share my take on it.

Then earlier this week during one of my sessions, one of the people there shared her experience of religious trauma and I realised that this is actually a really important conversation to have.

It is always my intention to bring balance to these topics and conversations and I'm certainly not here for the bashing and witch hunts that you sometimes see happening.  I just think the more we try to understand each other and move away from fear based manipulation, the better we will all be!

This week I wanted to talk about the importance of being anchored into faith.  In other words, giving daily focus to the practice of connecting to what feels true inside of you.

We are in a world where we are being constantly bombarded by the thoughts and opinions of others.  Just today I read a post that triggered some old wounds around religion and knowing the right path to take.  I felt myself momentarily slipping into worry that I was getting it wrong and that ultimately my soul wouldn't be saved!  I know right?!

But then I quickly returned back to what FELT true for me.  What felt loving.  And I was reminded that truly our own guidance is the most powerful guidance we can choose to follow.  When we are willing to be tossed and turned in the sea of other people's opinions, we have no grounding.  No anchor!

In this episode I wanted to talk about when the challenges you're facing feel insurmountable and like you'll never come through to the other side.  The real danger in those moments is that you'll completely disconnect from the truth of who you are and succumb to the false belief that you are nothing special, with nothing important to offer the world.

The truth is that you are walking the planet right now for a reason.  The gifts you have, the passion and joy you can access is all for a purpose.

So if it's all feeling too much right now, I really hope that this episode will give you some hope and some direction.

At the end of every Let's Talk About Woo call, I go around the zoom room and invite each person to impart their final words for the listeners.

Each person is only given a few moments to speak and it would be so easy in that moment to share someting surface level and generic as a sign off - but of course these ladies absolutely did not do that!

There is so much GOLD in these closing statements that they got their own episode!

When you know and understand that you are part of a collective, then you start feeling truth in the words of others when they speak.  It's like you remember rather than learning something for the first time.

On last week's episode, you will have heard from Jade Stoner towards the end of the show, sharing a story about someone who was unable to conceive but who then left their abusive relationship and was able to conceive with her next partner.  Jade shared how this lady believed something or someone had been looking out for her to ensure she didn't have children with the wrong partner.

This was a coversation we had on one of our regular group podcast recordings and also on the call that day was Emiliy Butler - my good friend and right hand wing woman.  Emily is an amazing Event Strategist and Retreat Planner and works with Spiritual business owners to help them bring their event visions to life.  But Emily has also faced her own personal challenges and the story that Jade was sharing caused Emily to feel deeply triggered.  But then on the other side of that, she was able to find a powerful reframe and she had a really beautiful realisation that she shared with me later that day.

I wanted to bring Jade and Emily together to continue the conversation because I felt it was important to show all aspects.  This isn't a podcast where we just share inspiring stories and leave out the dark corners.  This is where we shine a light into those corners so we can all grow and move forward.  Also, I thought that if Emily had been triggered, then it was highly likely others may have been too and I wanted those people to know that their feelings are valid and get to be acknowledged.

This was a powerful conversation and one I feel so honoured to have been a part of.  I really hope you love it too.
