Camp David Retreat. One of David's passions is the ability to see a property's current use and envision how it could become something different.  This property was being used for a residence and a dog boarding facility, and when it came on the market David saw a new way to utilize the beautiful 10 acres as a retreat setting. Inspired by his now-grown children who seemed to always be "bored" with family vacations, he wanted a way to revive old memories and create new ones. Camp David Retreat was born!

Ep.89 Change "Stems" From You (Jennifer Ziegler-STEM cell advocate who has had multiple stem cell treatments) R

Ep.89 Change "Stems" From You (Jennifer Ziegler-STEM cell advocate who has had multiple stem cell treatments) R

    Monologue:

    • New Advertiser Day with M. Elliott Studio
    • Austin Attractions
    • Dripping Springs Attractions
    • Don't Feed the Deer!
    • Whole Foods History

    Guest:
Jennifer Ziegler is a founder of Patients for Stem Cells, an advocacy group that is pushing for increased access to therapies in the US. Texas has been a hub for stem cell therapy since then-Gov. Rick Perry was treated for back pain in 2011 and hailed his results. The clinic where Perry was treated, Celltex in Houston, was taking patients’ stem cells and multiplying them in a lab before re-injecting them — a process the FDA said was not allowed. The FDA ordered Celltex to stop making stem cell products, and the company moved its consumer business to Mexico.
Ziegler, who was also a Celltex patient, says that forcing the operations out of the country is an overreaction, and that FDA unfairly limits patients’ rights to make decisions about their health.
Ziegler has MS. The drugs to treat it had intolerable side effects for her. so she sought stem cell therapy. After Celltex shut down its Texas clinic, she traveled to the Stem Cell Institute in Panama.
Ziegler said. “It’s horrible that it’s not allowed in our country and it’s not covered under insurance. We’d like stem cells to be available to anyone who needs it.”
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has signed a bill that grants patients with severe chronic or terminal illnesses increased access to therapies using adult stem cells that are not yet federally approved. Ziegler’s
group pushed for that legislation and intends to champion similar laws in other states.

    Guest:
When Steve Friedman wrote his memoir, In Search of Courage, he realized that the common thread of introversion, he thought was a curse all his life, was actually a blessing. For years he wore a mask at work and coped with his stress by sacrificing his health and personal relationships. Now he embraces his own introversion as a toolkit to become a happier person. Steve's purpose is to help other introverts to accelerate their own journey to discover their strengths and how to apply them at home and at work. He seeks to inspire others to overcome past obstacles and find joy, pride, and confidence in life.  Steve retired from corporate America and enjoys sharing articles, books, quizzes, and resources through his website, BeyondIntroversion.com.  He is also a Parent, advocate, and published author. Steve has used his family’s recent experiences to help guide others. With The Essential Guide for Families with Down syndrome, Steve brings a practical perspective to the many challenges families face when their loved one with Down syndrome reaches adulthood.
