Following 1968's NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, George A. Romero directed a pair of non-horror films (THE AFFAIR and SEASON OF THE WITCH) that have either eluded or underwhelmed longtime fans who preferred the darker and gruesome later work he is most known for.  But in 1973 George Romero completed THE CRAZIES, a film steeped in chaos and fear.  THE CRAZIES tells a story of contagion in a small community, the effect it has on the townspeople as it spreads and the struggle against military forces who try to contain and eradicate the threat.  One of Romero's early "dark horse" films!  Also a discussion of the 2010 remake of TEH CRAZIES, and a remembrance of DAWN OF THE DEAD's David Emge.  Listen on your favorite podcast app.  Please Review, Share and SUBSCRIBE!

KNIGHTRIDERS was not only one of George A. Romero's rare non-horror films, and one of his personal favorites of his own films, but it has a lot to offer fans of Romero classics like MARTIN, DAWN OF THE DEAD, CREEPSHOW and DAY OF THE DEAD.  With the involvement of actors and collaborators spanning NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD in 1968 to LAND OF THE DEAD in 2005, the collective talent behind KNIGHTRIDERS is a bridge of sorts between all of Romero’s films - a mix of where George Romero had been, and where he was going.  Episode #94 of My Haunted Head takes a look at one of Romero's most ambitious, and underappreciated, films.  Plus news about a new book by PHANTASM director Don Coscarelli, and Joe Lynch's new film SUITABLE FLESH starring Barbara Crampton.  Listen now on your favorite podcast app.  SUBSCRIBE, Rate and Review!

Whether it was one of his many appearances on television, or one of the many genre films he did in the late 70's and early 80's, Christopher George left an indelible mark in television and film.  In much the same way that actor Robert Forster brought a believable everyman quality to a variety of roles, Christopher George was able to slip comfortably from drama to action and horror in a way that made him relatable, and the material believable.  He was a rugged, handsome, charismatic actor who elevated every project he appeared in.  He should be held in the same regard as actors like Roy Scheider, Robert Forster and Lance Henriksen.  Though his body of work included war films, comedies, sci-fi and action, for episode #93 we will focus on the prison drama, nature-run-amok, vigilante justice, zombie apocalypse, classic slasher, ninja and occult films he did from 1973-1983.  Whether you're new to his work, or a long-time admirer, please join My Haunted Head in a celebration of the films of Christopher George.

HAPPY HAUNTED HALLOWEEN!  As October creeps towards the big night, Toddzilla and Matthew discuss director John Carpenter's recent appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, a list of medical and hospital-related horror films, and which of the many possible HALLOWEEN story arcs is our favorite.  Also a recommendation of the great books TAKING SHAPE and TAKING SHAPE II by Dustin McNeill and Travis Mullins, which chronicle the 40+ year history of the HALLOWEEN films (both made and unmade).  All this and more in episode #89 of My Haunted Head - available on your favorite podcast app.
