    194: Should Christian Women Wear Makeup, Get Botox, or Want to Be Fit? Let’s Talk Legalism vs. Freedom in Christ!

    Do you ever feel judged for how you look? It hurts, right?! If legalism is new to you, I’m blessed to have the opportunity to show you the difference between a relationship with Jesus and a list of man-made religious rules.

    Hear my heart. I have lived under much scrutiny trying to bring a message of faith and fitness into the world, so if you have been hurt by this too I want you to be free in Jesus!

    Although we have never met, I’m certain I’m not alone in the intense desire to know what God says about these things.

    Start listening to learn 3 Ways Legalism is stealing your Jesus Glow:

    1. Salvation Plus Works:

    • Legalism claims salvation isn't enough; you must earn it. Jesus plus *their rules* are how you can be good enough. There is No Jesus Plus. There is only Jesus is ENOUGH.
    • Legalism controls, induces guilt, and hinders freedom in Christ.

    2. Man-Made Rules vs. Jesus-Bought Freedom:

    • Legalism imposes man-made rules, not freedom bought by the death of Jesus on the Cross.
    • Women often feel pressured to conform to specific looks, dress codes, and behaviors and are confused about the truth of God.
    • Scriptures referring to modesty are used to control how women dress, and whether or not to wear makeup.
    • Personal choices like makeup, hair color, Botox, and fitness are scrutinized under legalistic lenses instead of founded in Scripture.

    3. Division and Judgment:

    • Legalism promotes gossip, self-righteousness, and judgment.
    • Jesus associated with sinners, urging us to follow His example.
    • We must follow Jesus and challenge ourselves to avoid legalistic behaviors, gossip, and judgment and live in the freedom He paid for!

    Snapshot: Our Glow doesn’t come from our appearance, it comes from walking in the freedom Jesus' death bought us on the Cross, and it's fueled by the Holy Spirit dwelling in us. God made each of us unique, with different tastes and styles. Being who He made you to be is what shines your light.Legalism dims this light, like snuffing out a candle. Remember we are under grace, not the law, and Jesus changes us from glory to glory.  

    Faith Fuel to Light Your Jesus Glow:

    "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." - John 8:36 NKJV

    I pray this message helps you recognize legalism's control is from man and not God, so you can, forgive, and reclaim your power by standing on the finished work of the Cross.

    For those who've ever felt the weight of unanswered prayers or questioned their calling, this episode is for you. As a sister in faith, I want to inspire and motivate you to recognize that your dreams are not impossible with God.

    I was praying about how to end the 2023 podcast season. It took a moment of pause and reflection to see I needed to share God’s hand over every minute of the last 12 months.

    I'm not one to boast, but I feel compelled to acknowledge how God carried me through 2023. Battling feelings of being too old or too late, I chose to turn away from the devil's lies and follow the path laid out by Jesus. With only an assistant working a few hours a week, a supportive husband, and an amazing best friend, it's truly been just me, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit navigating the journey.

    ✨  Looking Back on 2023 to See How God Was Always Working:

    • Appearances on Christian TV shows such as The 700 Club, CBN, Life Today, Cornerstone, and Hope Today.

    As I sat down to record this podcast, I had no script, but what emerged was a message of hope through my testimony. Now, I invite you to reflect on your own 2023. Grab a piece of paper, open a journal, or use your phone to jot down the moments when God's hand was evident in your life.

    • May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. Romans 15:13 (ESV)

    188. 5 Things I Would Tell My Younger Self

    Hey, beautiful Sisters!! Welcome back to another uplifting episode of Strong. Confident. His. I'm thrilled to be here with you, especially after celebrating my 55th birthday. Age is just a number, and today, I want to share five invaluable lessons that have become my compass, always pointing to Jesus.

    📖 Foundational Scripture: "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." – Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV

    Before we dive in, if any of these lessons resonate with you or if you're going through a challenging season, reach out to me. Your feedback means the world; hit subscribe, leave a comment, or share a review.

    Here is a snapshot of the 5 Lessons:

    1. If God isn't in it, you don't want it!

    • Life's hustle can distract us. Ensure God is at the center; trust His plan. If it's His will, it's worth the wait.

    2. If it costs you your peace, it's too expensive!

    • God's peace is precious and priceless. If something steals your peace, let it go. His peace surpasses all understanding.

    3. The numbers only have the power you give them. Let God define you.

    • In a world obsessed with numbers, let God define you. You are fearfully and wonderfully made; His opinion is the only one that matters.

    4.Your pain, mistakes, and insecurities are the road to Jesus.

    • Don't be ashamed of your scars; they testify to God's grace. Your past doesn't define you; it refines you. Your story is a beacon of hope.

    5. God will promote you in His timing. Keep going because God's equipping you now.

    • The journey is part of the destination. Stay strong, confident, and rooted in His love. God is always working!

    • Advocate for repairing the relationship with food through prayer and reliance on God's love. 

    5: Fanning the Flame of Motivation Through Prayer 🔥

    • Explore 2 Timothy 1:6, to fan the flame of your motivation. 

    • Understand that you may not always feel like it. 

    • Begin to seize moments for positive changes. 

    6: Stewarding Time for God and Health⏰

    • Choose to steward your time based on 2 Timothy 1:7. 

    • Reevaluate your daily routines, considering how time can be dedicated to God and health. 

    • Schedule practical upgrades for incorporating spiritual and physical well-being into daily life. 

    7: Finding Lasting Motivation in God🌟

    • Find Philippians 3:12-14, Matthew 19:26, and Romans 8:37 as sources of lasting motivation. 

    • Understand the common challenge of expecting immediate results in fitness and encourage perseverance. 

    • Focus on the benefits of a healthy lifestyle beyond the scale.

    Prayer

    Dear God,

    Cause the woman who is reading this to act! Help her sign up to take this challenge, help her know you, and grow deeper and more secure in her faith. Protect her health. Show her that you care about her health and wholeness and you want her to walk it out with you daily.

    Lord, lead me to lead others. Help me serve these women with excellence. Help us all be examples of you in this world. Put the woman who needs to do this with us on our hearts and encourage us to reach out to her today!

    God, we are so grateful for your Word, help us know how it applies to our fitness and live by it!

    Father, lastly, please help the woman who is thinking I’ll start taking care of myself in January to understand that she needs to take care of herself now. Empower us to live in your Holy Spirit’s power and authority instead of the weakness of appetite. Lord, in you, we can find balance and grace.

    We are so grateful for our bodies. Today marks a new day of stewarding them well for your glory,
