    The Be Loud Radio Hour

The Be Loud Radio Hour is a podcast made by kids for everyone! At Be Loud Studios we help kids turn screens into tools for self expression and courageous collaboration. Being “loud” means showing up, creating something different, being assertive. Youth need more space to practice their “loudness,” especially in our digital world. Whether it be with a microphone or camera, we trust youth to be creators (not just consumers) –their opinions, ideas, and perspectives are valid and must be expressed. Be Loud exists to amplify kid voice in a time where too many youth are silenced. Kids have things to say. We want to give them the platform to not only share their stories, but to confidently broadcast them to the larger community. By doing so, we believe that they will feel affirmed and confident to become more active changemakers, listeners, and culture bearers. Thanks for listening, and remember to BE LOUD!

Next Voices - Episode 2 with Bricolage Academy

"Next Voices" is a Be Loud podcast that listens to the next generation of students, leaders, and citizens here in New Orleans.

In this episode, we talked with 8th graders from Bricolage Academy about what it means to grow up in their community and what they associate with being an American. The energy and enthusiasm of these 4 brave students really cemented the larger purpose of this project. Young people have a lot to say and we need to listen.

Big shout out to our new friends from Bricolage Academy and we are grateful for these students for joining us in the studio and to their teacher Té Smith for leading the way.

Also, thank you to our partner the New America Foundation for inspiring and investing in this work. These experiences have pushed us to re-imagine what it means to listen to and record with young people. We hope you will continue to tune in to these conversations.

What would a prison-free New Orleans look like? Conversations with Lede New Orleans

What would a prison-free New Orleans look like? Conversations with Lede New Orleans

Every year, we partner with Lede New Orleans- an organization that equips emerging creatives with skills, tools and resources to transform how local media serves our communities.

For this episode, DJs connected with Lede fellows and learned more about their reporting on the impact of prison on our local community. With their help, DJs also heard from leaders FFLIC LA as they shared more about their work in transforming the systems that put children at risk of prisons.

Incredibly grateful to these two organizations for coming through to talk to Be Loud, inspire new questions and ideas, and to listen to what they had to say about their own experience.

We will be sharing these conversation on an upcoming episode of our podcast. Stay tuned.

Be Loud had the incredible opportunity to "sit down" (over Zoom) with City Council President JP Morrell

It was an awesome conversation that covered everything from his day to day schedule to podcasting to how to deal with the hate. Super impressed by the energy and focus of the DJ crew and of course- big shout to JP Morrell for sitting down to talk with DJs about his life in and out of politics.

    Live at Treme Fall Fest

    Live at Treme Fall Fest

Welcome back to Be Loud Radio Hour.

To start the show, DJ spent a beautiful Saturday morning recording @tremefest and interviewed the many different artists, musicians, and vendors that made this year's festival a huge success.

We are super impressed by Be Loud DJs. Pushing themselves to mic up and talk to someone new. Working on their interview skills. Making follow up connections. Chasing down second lines. Even figuring out how to record segment introduction in a bounce house.

These things are not easy and DJs show up every week to get better on and off the mic.
