    Michele spills about why she quit therapy recently and how she plans to take better care of herself. She shares her plans to combat her issues, including writing more by starting with an outline, and creating a writing routine that she can stick to. Exercise is another priority, as well as increasing intensity when she can handle it. Michele opens up about her reluctance to let go of her attachment to work, (including this podcast!), and trying so hard to make everything “perfect.” She talks about going on vacation to visit family and granting herself permission to take a break for her mental health.

    Today’s guest is Rob Kalwarowsky, a certified leadership coach, mental health advocate, and podcaster based in Alberta, Canada. Rob shares his struggles with depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, and PTSD. He tells us how he opened up a pandora’s box of trauma that he’s currently processing and how he suffered for a while with depression before seeking help. He discusses his experience with EMDR, IFS (Internal Family Systems), how it’s common for men to be reluctant about seeking mental health treatment, and what it’s like to work with a trauma specialist. Rob also talks about winning a water polo championship in college and the sense of helplessness he felt after achieving such a large goal. They discuss how intelligent overachievers often have trouble asking for help when they most need it and other problems with perfectionist tendencies.

Steven tells us how his autism has affected his outlook on dating, love, and his relationship with his wife.

    Today’s guest is Dr. Russell Ledet, a scientist, medical student, and cofounder of the 15 White Coats, an organization that raises funds for students of color to apply to medical school. Dr. Ledet tells us how he grew up poor with little opportunity, which inspired him to join the Navy. His wife later convinced him to go to college, and we went on to get a PhD from NYU in molecular oncology and now pursue his medical degree and MBA at Tulane University. He shares his story about working as a security guard at a hospital- the same hospital where he now wears scrubs and a white coat as a med student. Dr. Ledet talks about his desire to lead a life of impact and to pursue what he’s most passionate about to set a strong example for his children.

Emily explains how she became a registered dietitian, how it’s different from calling yourself a nutritionist, and the rewarding components of her job, including helping people learn how to eat a healthy diet. 

    She shares her experience of being an essential worker during this stressful time, catching the ‘rona, getting the Covid vaccine, and the satisfaction of having a doctor listen to you. The ladies also discuss the preventative aspects of therapy and how Emily probably had a bad therapist once.

    Michele reveals that she’s going to couples therapy with her boyfriend. AND she’s using insurance to pay for it, now that she no longer prescribes to the myth of “the permanent record.”

    This week’s guest is Anastasia Washington (@anastasiawash), a podcaster, actress, and comedian. She tells us about her anxiety disorder, finding her therapist soulmate, growing up a child actor, being typecast as the “quirky best friend,” and accepting that she wants to be the main character in her own life, dammit! Anastasia shares her experience of being biracial in LA, having an identity crisis over it, and writing a one-woman show called 50 Shades of Mixed. She also shares tips for overcoming writer’s block.

    Michele (@michelebacicomedy) talks about the riots on the US Capitol and the hypocrisy behind it. She’s also seeing a new therapist soon!

    This week’s guest is Kay Mollica (@quemollica), a Brooklyn based comedian and voice over artist. Kay talks about going to art school and the ladies bond over going to New York state colleges. Kay tells us that she loves to gab, and that’s why therapy works so well for her.

    Kay shares that she wanted to get into comedy since she was a teenager. She talks about writing for Reductress, embracing the cheesiness of improv, and how her coach called her out for never choosing to play vulnerable characters. She’s currently directing Moxie, a virtual sketch lab, which is a space for women, trans, and non-binary people to write comedy. Kay and Michele discuss the “crazy ex-girlfriend” stereotype.

    Kay tells us why she’s obsessed with Nate: A One Man Show by Natalie Palamides and that she’s been watching intuitive eating videos on Tik Tok lately.
