    "A Message of Hope" Episode #14 with Sgt. Reinhold of Toys For Tots

    On todays episode Jordan meets with  Sgt. Reinhold of Marine Toys For Tots.  While stationed in Camp Lejeune in 2018, he was ordered to transfer to Raleigh and began his journey with the charity and has been very passionate about his involvement ever since. Toys For Tots began back in 1947 by Marine Corps Reserve Major Bill Hendricks. Actually his wife Diane. She wanted to donate some dolls to children in need but they couldn't find an organization that did that. So they created one. Presently, the Marine Toys for Tots Program distributes an average of 18 million toys to 7 million less fortunate children annually. They are an amazing charity that brings the joy of Christmas and sends a message of hope to us all.

    On todays episode Jordan talks with Chelsea Rothcild, the site manager for Go Ape located in Blue Jay Point County Park in North Raleigh. Go Ape is an outdoor adventure experience for the whole family. Back in the mid 2000's while traveling in Europe, the founders of Go Ape stumbled upon a network of zip line and aerial adventure courses in the UK and formed a partnership to bring the idea to the United States. Their vision sprung to life with the very first Go Ape USA course in Rockville, Maryland. Now there are 14 locations in 13 states. From rope ladders to tree top obstacle courses to zip lines, this place sounds like a blast. I personally can't wait to get out there and experience it for myself.

    On todays episode Jordan talks with Nikki Speer of "Redefined Courage". They are a non-profit organization committed to gifting "HOPE", which is a post-operative shirt for women undergoing breast surgery. The idea to create this garment came to Nikki after a promise she made to her mother who had undergone 3 surgeries for breast cancer. Nikki recognized the limitations an individual has after this type of surgery and began designing a shirt that would be beautiful, comfortable and functional. To date they have been able to gift over 500 shirts to women worldwide. Jordan and I were completely riveted during the recording of this episode. Her story is truly amazing and inspiring.

    On todays episode Jordan meets with Jay and Jeremy Bond of Bond Brothers Beer Company. So this story reminds me of Steve Jobs building Apple Computers out of his garage. These Identical twin brothers, along with close friend and now Brew Master Whit Baker started out brewing beer in Jeremys garage in Raleigh. Within a few short years they knew they had created something special and decided to take it to the next level. With their combined artistry, chemistry and a demand for excellence they went from creating exceptional beer for friends to being crowned USA Today's "Best New Brewery in the Country."

    On todays show Jordan goes on location to meet with Danny Tangredi the owner of Wake and Bake Donuts. Located in Carolina beach, they are a really cool, unique bakery that puts a twist on the morning pastime of coffee and donuts. About 20 years ago while attending college in Maryland Danny came up with the name "Wake and Bake" and never gave up on creating the business. They opened their doors in October of 2014 and because of his determination, business savvy and creative donut artistry they have become a staple in the area and somewhat of a household name.

    On todays show Jordan meets with Chris Tomlin the owner and founder of Smoke Alert. While working as a Chapel Hill fire fighter back in 2010, Chris decided to start a much needed home fire safety company. Their mission statement is to save lives in the community through education and superior service. His team of highly trained technicians, (who also happen to be firefighters), perform a wide range of affordable services and safety checks on your home to include chimney sweeping, cleaning dryer vents, replacing smoke alarms, fire extinguishers, and more. This was one of the most informative and eye opening episodes I've ever recorded. By the time the show was over I was kinda spooked and drove straight home to check on my own chimney.

    On todays show Jordan meets with Bill Edwards, owner of The Triangle Shooting Academy. Having owned a small gun shop back in 2010, Bill saw the potential for growth and decided to open what eventually became an NSSF 5 Star shooting range. With a strong focus on education and training, this 41,000 sq. ft. facility is amazing. It currently features 33 lanes, a full time gunsmith, training rooms, impressive retail, a cafe (the burgers are amazing!) and the list goes on. But that's just phase 1. Phase 2 will offer 7-100 yard indoor lanes, archery, and maybe even a flight simulator!

    On todays show Jordan talks with his friend Gregg Griffin the owner of "Greggofish Guided Service". Growing up in South Florida and eventually landing in North Carolina, Gregg has been fishing his whole life. In 2006 when he and his wife decided to start a family, he decided to start his business and has been a huge success ever since. Guiding over 200 fishing tours a year he is revered as a local icon and has a well deserved reputation for giving his guests an amazing experience.

E.J. tells us how 12 years ago he and some skateboarding buddies decided to pack up and leave California and move to the North Carolina Coast. After many years working of working as a bartender and managing other restaurants he decided to open his own. And we're glad he did. Nollie's is one of the coolest places here on the coast and they make some of the best tacos we've ever had.
