In this episode, 4 IB students: Danel, Bianca, Naomi, and Gabriel discuss these issues and their findings from a student perspective. Many get carried away with this romanticized idea of working for yourself and having your own company. As a result, these aspiring entrepreneurs sort of making up a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist or is not that significant to many.

At IB, we teach you that if there is no customer, there is no company. You want to find/encounter a problem, then find a solution for yourself, test a market-product fit BEFORE scaling it. We invited Karim, a fourth-year student and a former Chair of Enactus, to share his journey of becoming a social entrepreneur.

Naturally, you may not land a dream job right away, the Finance & Accounting is quite a competitive field to enter. But don't feel discouraged!

Commonly, once you are in, there will be plenty of room for professional development and career progression to evolve and find your niche. But first, how do you get your foot in an entry-level job? And do you have what it takes to pursue a career in Finance? We asked Eva Valentijn, a former IB student, who has just received a high-profile job at PwC Nederland, to answer these questions.

What are the career opportunities in Operations & Supply Chain?

One of the reasons why the Supply Chain career path is so appealing to many of our graduates is due to the tremendous breadth of this profession and what it encompasses. This profession offers the broad range of activities required to deliver and realize customer value in the most streamlined and cost-effective way possible.

But how do you find your place in this field and properly position yourself for entry-level opportunities? We asked our alumni - Jasmijn, Tim, and Mahrokh - what qualities and competencies help them progress and succeed in the field of Operations & Supply Chain Management today.

So you have decided that you want to build a career as a finance specialist, you have a knack for it and you haven't skipped any finance-related classes so far. Great!

The finance and accounting field is very competitive, but don't feel discouraged just yet. Before you begin the race, it would help to have the wind behind you. We talked with Mark Cathersides - Co-owner at Roca Markets (a market maker in exchange-traded option) and asked him what personality traits are needed to succeed in finance today.

As a student at IB, you have to participate in various integrated projects and curriculum activities throughout your study. Moreover, during some of the projects, you are encouraged to take a leadership position and identify how to work with a diverse group of students to achieve a common goal.

So how do you become a good leader and what are examples of great leaders? What is personal leadership and how is it relevant to the IB students? Has the view on leadership changed since the pandemic? What are the CQ and the AQ and why are they crucial aspects of leadership?
