In this episode of Raw Real Unfiltered Podcast, Sarah and Heidi talk about learning to let go of control in their lives. Many different areas of their lives are discussed and letting go of control in each of those areas. Parenting adult children and learning to let go of control over their lives is a key part of this episode. Heidi also has a son who is deployed overseas in the war zone currently and she shares how she deals with letting go of control over that parenting situation. 

In this episode of Raw Real Unfiltered Podcast, the second part to Sharing Life and Catching Up, Sarah and Heidi talk in more detail about the importance of self awareness and breast cancer awareness. Other topics are the importance of being authentic with at least one other person in your life.

Heidi and Sarah come back after a break to share life and catch up with each other on this episode of Raw Real Unfiltered Podcast. Season 2 started off strong and we were super excited to jump in, and then life took an unexpected turn when Sarah was diagnosed with Breast Cancer (see previous episodes to hear the whole story) Heidi and Sarah talk about what's been going on in their lives for the past few weeks. This episode has been broken up into two parts to keep the time a little shorter for each episode!

Ever have those days that you wake up with a heaviness on you? Like a knowing almost that things are going to be just awful that day. You try to shake it and try to change your attitude, but you just can't? Well, the day I got the best news ever started out as one of those days. I was crabby, moody, angry I just didn't want to be going through what I was going through. That was the day of my oncology appointment at Lemmon-Holton Cancer Center when I would learn when and how much chemo I would have to have to treat my breast cancer. Only then when it came time to hear the news a miracle happened. 
Please share this story with anyone who is struggling to believe that miracles do exist and can happen to them too.

The moment I heard the words "you have breast cancer" my world changed all at once. I started thinking of all the things I wanted to do before my mastectomy. I didn't know how much time I would have between that news and going under the knife, so I acted quickly and I'm really glad I did, because it was three weeks from the moment I found out until I had my surgery! 
What would be on your list??

I know many of my videos have been uplifting and positive and that's how I've been feeling for much of this journey so far, but yesterday I was able to capture raw, honest feelings after a moment of hard emotions. This is not all rainbows and sunshine and I don't feel like I'm a happy fierce warrior all the time. I allow myself to feel my feelings when they come and release them so I don't hold on to them. This video captures just that, moments after I was done balling my eyes out, with my thoughts all over the place due to still being on so many medications coming out of the hospital stay. I hope this encourages people to be ok with feeling and sharing their own emotions.

So many people are becoming allergic to Iodine due to their shellfish allergies that surgical prep started leaning towards using Choloraprep instead. However, I am one of the people who is apparently VERY highly allergic to that. I developed a rash the day after my mastectomy and they tried treating it with a round of steroids, only to have it come back and become systemic requiring me to be hospitalized for 4 days to get the rash and itchiness under control.

I am home from the hospital now on 7 different medications to keep it at bay. Each day I am getting better!

Asking for help has never been my strong suit, I prefer to try to push myself to do things on my own. I muster up the inner strength and just go go go. All of that changed after I had my mastectomy surgery on Nov. 16, 2023. Suddenly I had to ask for help doing everything! Even going to the bathroom that first day! I had to learn to allow myself to open my hands and receive the help that everyone was wanting to give me. It was easier when I realized that sitting down, resting and not doing anything except rest would speed up my recovery!

I had a full mastectomy surgery on Nov. 16th, so I am currently about 10 days out from it. I wanted to tell you what my experience with recovery after my mastectomy (right side only) has been like. 
Most of these things, no one told me to expect, so it made it harder to handle as I was going through it. I'm hoping by sharing this will help someone else better prepare for post mastectomy recovery.

My google calendar was enough to make anyone cry, for months I had been working 7 days a week doing three different jobs, all of that changed and my life went from 60 to Zero in one moment. Suddenly my life is now filled with doctors appointments, surgery schedules, tests and treatments and a whole lot of blank spaces where I am doing nothing. It has been quite an adjustment in the one short month since I found out my Breast Cancer diagnosis.

Often at times in our lives something happens and we just don't feel like ourselves, I want to help you to learn to keep feeling like yourself even if you are battling cancer or some other health issue. I share what I've done to find myself and try to feel as much like myself as possible during my Breast Cancer battle. I hope it helps somone!

When your child is in a war zone, how do you deal with that as a Military Mom, and how is your heart feeling? It's one thing when our kids grow up and move out of the house, they go off to college, or the work force and start the new chapter of their independent life. They might even move out of state or out of the country, but what if they have to move to another country due to them being deployed? How do we handle that as Moms (and Dads), the fear, anxiety, loss of control? Heidi is in this very situation currently and she shares beautifully from her heart what she's going through right now (as so many other parents are as well). However, it is a priority and one that our bodies will tell us when we are neglecting.
