    World Game-Changers

One thing that’s never been attached to Paul is the label ‘normal’ – something he is totally aware of.  He definitely subscribes to being one of those mentioned the iconic ‘Think Different’ Apple commercial narrated by Steve Jobs in 1977:

“Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes... the ones who see things differently -- they're not fond of rules.  You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they change things... they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do!”

His World Game-Changers podcast embraces a mutually-respectful conversational style, with guests that are deemed ‘Unsung Heroes’ – selfless, dedicated people that contribute to the betterment of the world, in whatever way they can…

    “Remember: The World’s Changing…

Challenging Conventional Thinking (2) – Paul D. Lowe & Nicole Bellisle

Challenging Conventional Thinking (2) – Paul D. Lowe & Nicole Bellisle

On this episode of the World Game-Changers podcast Paul continues his conversation with Nicole Bellisle about challenging conventional thinking, this time around relationships & especially monogamy.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • I’m someone who bought into monogamy til I was 28 years old & about to get married to the wrong person. We called it off, but that experience led me to question everything. Is this what I want? Is this going to work for me? Can I make a commitment to someone for a lifetime & still be in full integrity? Or, because of the every-evolving nature of ourselves, am I going to be a different person in 10 years with different needs & curiosities.
    • I’ve explored open relationships, polyamory, & I’ve been playing in those places to understand what my ideal version of relationship is. I’ve found myself in situations that also didn’t work & I’ve found myself in a monogamous relationship!
    • We need to honour ourselves with reverence & truth, even if it’s scary or will potentially cause family members or people close to us to judge us or cast us out. The challenge for me is in the questioning of ideals, I was really, really indoctrinated/brainwashed by Disney into believing monogamy is the only way. I’m still a romantic but my idea of relationship has been cracked open & is a bit more flexible now.

    BEST MOMENTS

‘Where have my values come from? Are they values I want to keep? Are they values I want to change?’

    ‘Honour what’s true for you.’

    ‘Things are no longer ‘either/or’, they’re ‘both/and’ or ‘both/neither’.’

‘I now trust this person more than anyone because of this experience & because of how I’ve created trust with myself.’

Challenging Conventional Thinking (1) – Paul D. Lowe & Nicole Bellisle

Challenging Conventional Thinking (1) – Paul D. Lowe & Nicole Bellisle

On this episode of the World Game-Changers podcast, Paul talks to a new guest, Nicole Bellisle about challenging conventional thinking, of what we should, would & are supposed to do.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • It’s interesting how was have these labels that convey things about age, status, or even a role that we might be playing as women, men, younger folk even. It immediately gives a connotation in some direction & is not always a direct match to what my self-construct/identity is.
    • In any company I’ve run I usually do energy work before major meetings or before getting on stage or getting into a difficult conversation with someone on my team where a potential conflict may arise. There’s something so powerful about the energy that we send out & that we exude from the physical body & fill the space with.
    • If I’m changing my inner landscape & my internal environment energetically or by bringing awareness to my thoughts, I’m shifting my perspective. It’s like I’m literally changing the glasses I’m wearing through which I’m seeing the world.

    BEST MOMENTS

‘Words hold power, I sometimes say words are spells, we can use the power of words to tap into something poetic & conveys a powerful message'.

    ‘Change is the only constant'.

‘The Western mindset is not the only reality or world view that’s active even at this time on the planet. There are other ways of being that are happening simultaneously'.

‘I’m constantly shifting between attachment and non-attachment & it changes my world view'.

Becoming An Impactful Speaker – Paul D. Lowe

Becoming An Impactful Speaker – Paul D. Lowe

On this episode of the World Game-Changers podcast, Paul is solo again to bring you another short but impactful episode.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • We’ve all got a message to share & a story to tell. The challenge is that most of us, at one time or other things: “Nobody really wants to hear my story, I’m not interesting, I’ve just lived a normal life, why would people ever want to listen to me?” The answer to that is wrapped up in vibrational frequency.
    • Forget how you should pitch your voice, the words you should say & the tonality, the physiology, I feel there’s something that underpins all of that which enables us to speak naturally, so we speak our truth rather than from a place of technique.

    BEST MOMENTS

‘When I speak, how do I feel? Light & empowered? Do I believe what I’m really saying? That’s the crux of the matter: What’s coming from within me as an individual? Am I speaking my real, deep truth from an energy perspective?’

‘Using the WOIS (World Of Impactful Speakers) app has had a profound effect on my life.’

Life's Game Of Two Halves – Paul D. Lowe

Life's Game Of Two Halves – Paul D. Lowe

On this episode of the World Game-Changers podcast, Paul goes solo & talks about the game of life which, much like the beautiful game (football), is a (mind) game of two halves.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • From my own experience, the first half of my life has been very much around the ego, the drive, the achieving, wanting to come first & win at all costs, the more physical & mental aspects. Whereas the second half has been much more about letting go & realising what’s important.
    • Life has certainly been a different game since I gave up my alcohol addiction some 40 years ago. Has your life played out in two halves? Is the second half about to unfold? By letting go in the second half, I’ve been more accepting & have found belief in a higher power (which is different for all of us), let it unfold & let life happen through you.

    BEST MOMENTS

‘As I look at the futility of my life’s journey, looking back on how I pushed myself & so much pressure on myself & those around me to achieve, what was the point?’

‘Life will happen through us, if we allow it, rather than too us.’

Monogamy or Polygamy? Paul D. Lowe & Lyn Smith

Monogamy or Polygamy? Paul D. Lowe & Lyn Smith

This episode of the World Game-Changers podcast is actually an episode of The Hearts Entwined podcast that Paul was a guest on. Host, Lyn Smith talks to Paul (her ex-partner) about the pros and cons of both monogamy or polygamy.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • There’s so much pressure around what you should & shouldn’t say. A lot of people I speak to feel stifled & constrained by a lack of freedom to express themselves in case they’re perceived as being judged.
    • The physical side of what we do is the base level, it’s easy. The next level up is how you connect with people in a relationship mentally, the next level up is the emotional where you get deep and intimate. But right at the top of everything is the spiritual.
    • A friend of mine mentioned they were in a polyamorous relationship a few days ago. I didn’t judge it or pass comment but I  wondered why it made me react the way I did.
    • If people cheat it’s blatantly obvious what the situation is, there’s betrayal there. But when you’re sharing secrets & intimacies around emotions that only two people know between each other, that ‘pillow talk’ becomes devalued by becoming second-hand.

    BEST MOMENTS

‘I consider sharing an intimate sex act with somebody as a sacred act in its own right. Sharing a sex act is the ultimate act of intimacy with somebody I wouldn’t want it diluted by having multiple partners.’

‘A lot of people that I speak to who are in polyamorous relationships seem to be doing it because they feel they won’t get as emotionally invested, perhaps because they’ve been hurt in the past & don’t want to get hurt again in the future.’

‘I don’t want to dilute the sacredness of sharing sexual intimacy by sleeping with many different partners.’

‘If there’s an underlying feeling that you’re not enough, I can only think that that is compounded if your partner, or you, has decided you want multiple partners.’

Friends After Lovers - Paul D. Lowe & Lyn Smith

Friends After Lovers - Paul D. Lowe & Lyn Smith

On this episode of the World Game-Changers podcast, Paul is joined by guest-host Lyn Smith to talk about how the pair consciously uncoupled, going from lovers to very close friends, and to prove that there is life after separation.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • Not only are we separating in what the outside world might deem a romantic/couple scenario, but we’re also separating all the emotions that go along with that. It’s a different kettle of fish than untangling your bank accounts.
    • Love is the ultimate energy & it can be expressed in many different ways. We can have love for our family, friends, even our car or other possessions, we have a different kind of love for our pets, our partners. Love really is the energy that radiates from within us.
    • My love for you has actually increased because there’s no expectation that we’ll be sharing a bed or whatever else, as a couple. It’s given me an opportunity to look inward at love in a general sense, and ask what it really means.
    • Self-observation is that key: To ask yourself, why are we doing this? To have that understanding helps to create a route map, an exit, to help navigate through all the stormy emotions that prevail which can magnify & prolong the confusion & hurt.

    BEST MOMENTS

‘This feels really strange, but in a really beautiful way'.

‘Unconscious separation causes chaos, because you’re then trapped in all the emotions'.

‘We’d helped each other grow so much that we grew apart'.

‘I don’t think anybody who’s been in the love of an intimate relationship can come out totally without any hurt feeling, unless you’re a robot. But you can certainly navigate it to where there will be a bit of pain here & there, but you can let that go pretty quickly & easily'.

Banking As We Know It Is Dying - Paul D. Lowe, Cory Lopes-Warfield & Marc 'Spanky' Reid

Banking As We Know It Is Dying - Paul D. Lowe, Cory Lopes-Warfield & Marc 'Spanky' Reid

On this episode of the World Game-Changers podcast, Paul is joined by Cory Lopes-Warfield & Marc ‘Spanky’ Reid in a ‘companion’s meeting’ to discuss various things going on in the world specifically the banking industry.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

There’s one industry that’s stood the test of time throughout history, economies & markets: Insurance.

If you look at the markets after 2001 in the states the banks had a lot of money in variable accounts, they transitioned to life insurance & are now some of the largest life insurance providers.

We’re in an era now where there are a lot of digital assets and currencies, people are wanting to get out of the banking system.

As a society, we've been programmed to lose our creativity, and to instead dedicate ourselves entirely to a particular system.

    BEST MOMENTS

‘We’re seeing a shift from banking & big banks failing. People don’t want to see their money be gambled anymore or disappearing because of someone else’s mistakes'.

‘New technology allows for an ecosystem & technology tied to a marketplace & community where people can keep as much of their money in this ecosystem as possible to get anything that they would have needed more money for in another scenario'.

‘There are many different markets for currency and crypto & I think the winners will be agnostic in any regard'.

I Want To Change Career, But Don't Know How - Paul D. Lowe & Dr Keith Amoss

I Want To Change Career, But Don't Know How - Paul D. Lowe & Dr Keith Amoss

On this episode of the World Game-Changers podcast, Paul is joined again by Dr Keith Amoss to talk about his experiences with HR to give some advice about how do go about changing career.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • The first thing I look at when people ask me about changing careers is that I understand them, & if they understand themselves. They also need to know what they want & how to get there. The world is your oyster, there are a lot of things that you could do, a lot of things people will tell you you can’t do, & some things people may tell you – perhaps with the best intentions, love & care – that you should do. The simple reality is that they aren’t you.
    • There’s no one with the same personality as you, you’re unique. Are you an introvert, extrovert, a thinker, a feeler? Most important of all, what are your values & what matter to you? Honesty, integrity, do you hate to see bullying or being disrespectful? That means your values are respect. Look at the things that wind you up, if you take the reverse of that you’ll find your values. Do you have certain skills & abilities that others don’t?
    • How do you eat an elephant? Bit by bit. There are loads of obstacles to get where you want to be, but just focus on the first one & have the determination to start it & finish it.

    BEST MOMENTS

‘Passion can be short-lived, I’d say look for fulfilment.’
‘The last thing you want is to change career & find yourself in the same position you were before.’
‘At the moment skills in artificial intelligence are amazing ones to develop if you have an interest in it.’
‘Have faith, but have both feet on the ground. You may not ever become manager of Nottingham Forest, but you could play for an over-50s football team.’

Love Changes Everything (2) – Paul D. Lowe & Klementina Karol

Love Changes Everything (2) – Paul D. Lowe & Klementina Karol

On this episode of the World Game-Changers podcast, Paul is joined once more by Klementina Karol to continue their conversation about something that’s very close to their hearts: How love changes everything.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • When we create a sense of self love we’re creating a spaciousness in our body/life/lifestyle so we can be led and moved by spirit. Spirit speaks gently, so if you’re in the business of life you many not hear that message or intuition.
    • When we go out into the world we’re faced with mirrors, showing us where we can learn or grow so we can transmute inauthenticities. Perhaps we’re faced with a certain situation, maybe it says something about us if we react differently & move on.
    • We seem to be attached to our story & it’s challenging to change that story, we’re addicted to the feeling of that story; stress, anxiety. If you’re always perpetuating the same cycles & feelings in your body (despite what other people may see). Look at the main feelings you feel on a day-to-day basis, write them down & compare them to your childhood, you’ll likely find they are the same feelings. There are many things we can practice to get to a higher frequency that we desire.

    BEST MOMENTS

‘The most important thing for us who are on this journey is where we were yesterday vs where we are today.’
‘Teach the body how it feels to feel abundant, alive, wealthy, in love.’
‘If we want to embrace the change of a new story we need to work with & change our physicality. When we think a certain thought or feel a certain emotion our bodies react.’

Love Changes Everything (1) – Paul D. Lowe & Klementina Karol

On this episode of the World Game-Changers podcast, Paul is joined by Klementina Karol to talk about something that’s very close to their hearts: How love changes everything.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • I was working to create my dream job and I realised that something was missing. I connected the dots between the unsustainability that we’re currently seeing around the planet and traumas, fears, and beliefs and how we’re still very much influenced by our collective heritage from the past – we’re still in survival mode even though our technology has advanced.
    • Each of us is a node in this collective symphony that we’re creating and each of us has a frequency that has thoughts, a vibration, actions we’re taking that influences everything. Each of us is so important. Imagine the vibration of love and how beautiful that feels. Love is one of the highest vibrations we can tap into, and when we’re in that vibration everyone around us can feel it and can also be intoxicated by it.
    • What I love about love is that we can still be loved and wonder if we feel it at a deeper essence, that this person’s soul gets it. Often times they actually do. But I’ve definitely tried to steer away from trying to explain myself and my journey too much to people who don’t really understand it.

    BEST MOMENTS

‘How can we transform the inner dimension so we can create a more beautiful life on the outside and really influence the collective'.

‘If there’s trust we can more easily open up to the flow and open up our hearts and continue creating.’
‘There’s so much power in silence, I love silence so much which I discovered when I lived in Bali'.

‘One of my biggest fears in the past was that I’ll never get to experience real love. I didn’t know how it felt until a few years ago, my heart wasn’t open'.

Creating Lasting Legacies - Paul D. Lowe & Kiran K. Addala

Creating Lasting Legacies - Paul D. Lowe & Kiran K. Addala

On this episode of the World Game-Changers podcast, Paul is joined by first-time guest Kiran K. Addala to talk about creating lasting legacies, their four stages, and what legacy means to him.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • Legacy is about the visionary geniuses of the world who are able to think futuristically, have a positive impact on their community or society, and leave strong impressions in our memories.
    • I was amazed when reading in school to hear people talking really highly about certain people, like Mahatma Ghandi or Winston Churchill, about what they had done and the impact they’d had.
    • Parenting gives you great purpose in your life, you’re doing something for somebody, making a difference. You face a lot of challenges and you need to commit a lot of time to it, but it’s invaluable.
    • Legacy doesn’t have to be a very long commitment, it could be as simple as doing something in the street to inspire a group of people who may go and imitate it somewhere else.

    BEST MOMENTS
‘Even the most massive legacy started with one step by one person trying to solve one particular issue'.

‘As an individual, it’s very important to continue as a learner. One life is not good enough to become an expert, there’s no ending to learning any topic in this world'.

‘The biggest motivation for any individual or corporate is what you’re working towards, how you get satisfaction for it, how many people can you influence, what kid of problems can you solve'.

Embracing Technology To Transform Humanity – Paul D. Lowe & Andrii Svyrydov

Embracing Technology To Transform Humanity – Paul D. Lowe & Andrii Svyrydov

On this episode, Paul is joined by Andrii Svyrydov to talk about technology as it escalates exponentially with the birth of AI, and how it can help humanity.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • AI will help us to work less than we’re working right now, they will be able to spend more time working on their health, families, etc. It’s not bad, it’s good and things will be even better than now.
    • I believe that work will be changed. It’s a good idea to start educating yourself to become an engineer or in IT and other niches.
    • In the next 5 years AI will become a game-changing technology.

    BEST MOMENTS
‘Technology has really helped humanity by helping older people to stay at home rather than in hospitals'.

‘In my industry, around 40% or people will be replaced by AI'.

‘Once we can connect between continents using the internet and technology in milliseconds, the world will become global and we will remove a lot of boundaries between different countries. We could then think about how to achieve getting to Mars and other planets!’

What Does It Take To Become A World Game-Changer

What Does It Take To Become A World Game-Changer

On this episode of the World Game-Changers podcast, Paul (as the founder of World Game-Changers) asks the question: What Does It take To Become A World Game-Changer?

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • A world game-changer devotes themselves to a higher purpose, to impact the world and the lives of other for the better.
    • They come from ever walk or life, every nation, ever life circumstance representing diverse experiences with love being the common factor.
    • A world game-changer develops their talents and skills and pursues opportunities to increase their own influence for the greater good.
    • Vulnerability is massive in our world as humans and individuals. I’m not so sure that collectively we give it the respect that it deserves in terms of the part that it plays in our lives with regard to progress. Being prepared to be vulnerable and putting it out there first and taking control of the situation takes the power away from people who would want to exploit your vulnerability against you.

    BEST MOMENTS
‘World Game-Changers intentionally work to improve their end circumstances and the people with who they are associated.’
‘In a world without love what have we got? Simply, an existence. A world without love is, for me, not really a world at all.’
‘We prefer to wear a mask of control and self-protection because we don’t want people to get close to us and judge us. Be prepared to look at yourself in the mirror.’

How Storytelling Helps Us Overcome Fear (2) – Paul D. Lowe & Raksha Daryanani

How Storytelling Helps Us Overcome Fear (2) – Paul D. Lowe & Raksha Daryanani

On this episode of the World Game-Changers podcast, Paul is joined by returning guest Raksha Daryanani to continue their conversation about how storytelling can help us overcome fear.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • I grew up being told I was an extrovert but, as I grew older, I realized that’s not true because when I’m around people all the time I get exhausted.
    • Introverts and extroverts can both be great public speakers, it all comes down to what energizes you and how much time you need to decompress.
    • We don’t decompress, rest, take time for ourselves enough, and that’s becoming increasingly important in the digital age that we live in because more of us are working from home. The brain is not getting rest.
    • Some communities are more open, engaging, supportive when you are your true self, but others shy away from that and are more closed or reserved. It’s good to assess what a culture is like and whether you can fit in and be yourself, if not are you OK with that? It can be quite hard to mask who you are every day.

    BEST MOMENTS
‘I would like to inject more fun, I often thing I’m a bit serious in my writing, I think starting off on a lighten note engages the reader in your story. It’s a real art to make someone laugh with your writing'.

‘If we someone else opening up we soften. These moments where we are our true, whole selves and not putting up any façade are precious and relatable'.

‘There’s no way you can guarantee that a person wrote something in a certain tone if you’re just reading written text'.

‘When you hear someone tell you something remember there’s another side to it if there’s someone else involved. Don’t make up your mind too fast'.

The Life And Times Of A Recycled Teenager – Paul D. Lowe & Dr Keith Amoss

The Life And Times Of A Recycled Teenager – Paul D. Lowe & Dr Keith Amoss

On this episode of the World Game-Changers podcast, Paul is joined by returning guest Keith Amoss to talk about mentally turning the clock back, and finding childlike curiosity, energy and everything that comes with being a young person; whilst amalgamating it with the wisdom of a senior.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • Old tyres with no tread left get mashed up and turned into material for children’s playparks. This is a fabulous concept; taking something that’s good and bad (like our childhood experiences), taking the good bits and see how you can use them now as an adult, what have you learned?
    • A while back I met some old school friends after many years, sharing jokes and stories on Facebook. We decided to meet up in Canada. One guy used to be the cool guy who everyone looked up to and idolised, another was into motorcycling and was a bit of greaser, and I was a bit middle-of-the-road listening to David Bowie and being abstract. When we got together we didn’t stop talking and were at ease in each other’s company and we managed to think of a few incidences from our school days and our perspectives were different, especially about each other. Perhaps we should ask people we’ve known over the years “what did you think/make of me?”, but that’s a very difficult question to ask people.
    • Relatively speaking, the type of person that you were as a younger person/teenager, whether that’s generous, kind, giving, supportive, friendly, it’s still there throughout your life. Where you see examples of that is when you see people with genuinely childlike qualities in the way they act as an adult. Humour is classic case. You can recycle yourself, but you need to know that things that you need to drop from your teenage years, the things that cause you pain, the things that you need to overcome, the self-work you need to do, and take the good bits.
    • How do we prevent ourselves from wallowing in the past? There is a risk that you look back and see them as the good old days when you were confident and you had everything going for you, you were happy and had so much to offer. It’s both quite complicated but also extremely simple to live in the moment. You also need to be spending about 20% of your time living in the future though, because you need to pay the bills, plan and book trips, etc. However, you’re doing all that stuff today.

    BEST MOMENTS
‘We’re all tarins going through other peoples’ stations; we go through, we stop for a while, they see a little bit of us, and then we move on'.

‘It’s not what you say, it’s what you make someone feel that counts'.

‘The concept of the recycled teenager in essence is about recalling the past and having the memory, but without having particularly the negative emotion that was associated with things that went on'.

‘We make assumptions that people, when they’re older, have got it, they understand it, they know what’s going on, they don’t get nervous, they’ve got their act together. Talking to  my father who’s in his 80s you realise that even though you’ve been through a lot of life you still don’t understand how things work, you’re still uncertain, you can still have all those emotions of nervousness, uncertainty and fear'.

I Hated School But So Grateful For It Now, As The Recycled Teenager - Paul D. Lowe & Richard Gerver

On this episode of the World Game-Changers podcast, Paul is joined by Richard Gerver to talk about their relationships with school & education, and how that’s changed over the years.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • When I look back to my education, and when people remind me of my first career as a teacher and  headteacher, when I left school at 18 I never wanted to go back into school ever again in my entire life, ever. I felt like a misfit. Arguably I was very privileged, my parents and my grandparents sold their homes and sacrificed everything to send me to a private school because it was their dream to provide me with the very best education they could. This added a considerable amount of pressure on me, especially as an older teenager, because I knew what they’d sacrificed, so how could I tell them that I hated it?
    • When I chose to become a teacher later – for the love of a young woman – in my very early 20s, that was when I first began to process my own experience more objectively. Rather than taking my reflex judgement of hating it in the moment and it made me a worse person for whatever reason, I was able to start to understand and unpick the learning I’d taken from that experience without even knowing it and reflected on, despite everything I felt at the time, how lucky I was to have been in that environment.
    • One of the things that we should become more and more aware of as we go through life, which I think is really pertinent in the divided and angry world we live in right now where people’s beliefs are shaped by their own lived experience and context, the wiser among us realize that actually to grow, evolve, learn, develop, find peace with the world, your world and the world around you, you have to be open minded enough to realize and respect that you need to be active in shaping, challenging and developing your beliefs. It’s only by broadening your own horizons, contexts and experiences that your beliefs become increasingly rounded.
    • So many conflicts, from the smallest to the most horrific, people become increasingly deaf to other opinions, values, other people’s experiences and almost do so just to protect their own viewpoint. Partly that’s been amplified by the fact we’re now living in a digital world where social media through algorithm and the way we build walls around our own content means that we tend to live in increasingly siloed environments. We’re living in a world of what I call curated ignorance and I think it creates a dangerous environment, especially for our younger folk, where they can’t see why they would ever look outside of their own belief system because of the confirmation biases that are constantly circulating and fired at them. Then what happens is when they have a like-minded cabal around them, it’s very easy for sophisticated manipulators in that cabal to say: “Anybody who disagrees with you is bad, evil, has your worst interests at heart. I think that’s happened throughout history, but it’s more pronounced and more dangerous now because of the digital space which preoccupies so much of our lives.

    BEST MOMENTS
‘As a child, I was immensely creative. I was a writer, an actor, and artist; I went to an all-boys school that was highly academic, highly sports focused – particularly rugby’.

‘There’s no such thing as a bad experience if you process it in the right way, and learn from it'.

‘Beliefs can only ever be shaped by your lived experience'.

‘We talk a lot about the wisdom of elders; every time an old person dies a library burns down'.

Change Your Mind, Change Your Life (3) - Paul D. Lowe & Wayne Donnelly

Change Your Mind, Change Your Life (3) - Paul D. Lowe & Wayne Donnelly

On this episode of the World Game-Changers podcast, Paul is joined again by Wayne Donnelly for a third and final episode of this mini-series to talk about how powerful the mind is, and how you can use it to change your life.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • We’re brought up in a certain paradigms, if I was born anywhere other than Australia I’d have different realities. The life we’re living now we think it’s reality, the perceptions and belief systems we have, but at some times in life we’re hit with something which makes us question our current reality. We then shift into a different reality, we wake up and go into a different dream as we go through different things in life. If we’re fortunate we have things that wake us up so we can advance or progress our life.
    • I commuted hours each way during the week and when I had my kids I wouldn’t see them unless it was the middle of the night and they were having their feed or at the weekends. Is that life? Is that how life’s supposed to be? To go to work and pay the bills? When you question it you come into a new reality where I started my own business as an accountant. Different things have occurred since then that have seen my become a hypnotherapist, a coach, and someone who changes lives because of the things I been through, experienced and learned.
    • Awareness precedes a change in behaviour, but is that awareness internal or external? You might wake up one morning and ask: “Is this all there is?” and then you start looking for the answers and you can use your conscious mind to make changes in your unconscious, because you’re deliberately doing it from awareness and experiences. Or, you could have something that changes your life that redirects you and you can grow and facilitate changes consciously.
    • Some people would say that we are an expression of Source/Universe/God experiencing this reality so that the intangible can have a tangible experience. Is everything one and we’re part of an incredibly limitless One? We’re everything in our own body and yet we’re all one. It’s the type of question that could open an awareness and awakening to there is more than just this body; if I lose a finger or a leg I’m still Wayne, but who is Wayne?

    BEST MOMENTS
‘The life we live is like a dream, and then we wake up and change and go to a different dream'.

‘The difference between a rut and a grave is the depth'.

‘We’re not a drop in the ocean, we’re the ocean in a drop'.

‘By tapping into our own consciousness or the universal consciousness we can create the reality that we’d like to have'.

The Recycled Teenager Returns To The 18th Century (2) - Paul D. Lowe & Kristin Johnson

The Recycled Teenager Returns To The 18th Century (2) - Paul D. Lowe & Kristin Johnson

On this episode of the World Game-Changers podcast, Paul is joined again by Kristin Johnson to continue their conversation about the TV series Poldark and its storylines, specifically in this episode: Trust in romantic relationships. This conversation may contain spoilers.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • It’s romantic in the sense that there’s this rugged individualism yet there’s a big community with a big sense of duty and responsibility and self-sacrifice that is very romantic and heroic. But it’s also about the beauty, the nature, the longing of the spirit and a longing for refinement. As with certain aspects of today, it boils over into class envy with the haves, and have-nots.
    • Having never experienced this personally, psychologists say that you can heal from trust being broken by an affair but it takes a long time and some people maybe never really forget or are able to forgive at all, but it does happen.
    • Elizabeth loves Francis, Ross’ cousin, but at the same time it’s not what she feels for Ross and never can be because it’s a different kind of love. She builds a home and a family with Francis and when he dies it’s like something snaps within Ross, which isn’t grief over Francis – although he is sad – it’s more like his chance is here and he loses his head and totally forgets Demelza who knows where he’s going. Even the bluntest of us can really have a hard time expressing what’s going on.
    • You have to trust yourself and that you’re doing the right things at the right time for the right reasons, even if they might not make sense and even if things are hard. Especially you have to trust that your cause is just. Ross knows that what he’s doing against the French is the right thing, he’s fighting for his country and its interests like he always has.

    BEST MOMENTS
‘Ross Poldark is a very romantic hero because he’s taking up such a big cause for his community’.

‘Demelza has a big heart and Elizabeth understands that, I think Demelza comes to like and respect Elizabeth but at the same time she’s always going to wonder “am I first in Ross’ mind”, and that betrayal stings because Elizabeth is the love of Ross’ life and she came first'.

‘Men crave sex and women crave love (I think that’s an over-generalization, but there is some truth it that)'.

‘Poldark is more than just a wonderful period drama with wonderful costumes… it’s about the human heart in conflict with itself, that’s why it’s lasting'.

How Storytelling Helps Us Overcome Fear, Including AI - Paul D. Lowe & Raksha Daryanani

How Storytelling Helps Us Overcome Fear, Including AI - Paul D. Lowe & Raksha Daryanani

On this episode of the World Game-Changers podcast, Paul is joined by first-time guest a freelance creative story-teller, Raksha Daryanani, to talk about how storytelling can help us to overcome fear, specifically the growing fear of AI.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • At university I was told that I had a flair for writing, so I started experimenting and went from writing admissions essays to CVs to recommendation letters, basic communications that anyone would need help with. Then, when the pandemic struck, I started writing on LinkedIn, sharing stories of working in HR about miscommunication, biases, the moments I didn’t feel adept at what I was doing, as well as personal stories of how I overcame challenges as a professional, as a human being, as a person of colour. It was great to see the traction of my personal stories where I’d learned something and could share it with someone else who may have a shared experience or learned something from it.
    • Most behaviour stems from unresolved traumas, unhealed moments in our lives which we then project on to other people. But, the more we are aware, the more we grow, the more we understand why something happened – even if it was unfair, because a lot of things that happen to us are unfair – id that really an excuse to ill-treat or label others? Is it really an excuse to say “you’re not one of us”? It’s a delicate balance between emotional intelligence, cultural intelligence and basic common sense. If I do to you what you do to me, how am I any different?
    • The first generation that migrates doesn’t have the resources, usually, and the awareness to work on unresolved traumas because they’re too busy making a living and surviving. The second generation is usually the one that has a bit more time and awareness and the safety net to come out of survival mode to think about their personal development, fulfilment and the likes. This lines up with Maslow’s hierarchy of needs.
    • Before you have the moment where you awaken or you have a change of mind, there is a phase where you feel distraught and unable to help yourself, much like a victim. I’ve been there and it really shaped how I saw things. I felt helpless and that the world was a really bad place, that my good intentions were never being met, so it was a me vs the world thought process. In my early 20s, the realization hit that I don’t have to be a victim of my circumstances and I don’t have to suffer and tell myself I’m losing out and that things happen to, not for me. Changing that narrative helped me to do things and say I tried rather than I’ll fail no matter whether I try or not.

    BEST MOMENTS
‘We all have something we can’t help, what happened to us is not an excuse to not work on our traumas'.

‘We are all good on the inside, that’s what’s going to get you further'.

‘The worst things can happen to us because we’re not aware of the boundaries we can have, the boundaries we can set, the way we can speak up, and make choices that empower us'.

‘Either you are Superman or you are the victim, but you chose that narrative in your mind'.

The Recycled Teenager Returns To The 18th Century (1) – Paul D. Lowe & Kristin Johnson

On this episode of the World Game-Changers podcast, Paul is joined by returning guest and sometime co-host Kristin Johnson to talk about quite a provocative title, but effectively boils down to the book and, more specifically, the TV series ‘Poldark’ - it may contain spoilers.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • If you look at the principles of drama, going back to Shakespeare, of conflict and the human heart in conflict with itself and the tragic flaw/hero from Greek drama, they’ve stood the test of time. The chief antagonist of the series is a tragic character, but is more complex than a cardboard cutout, moustache-twirling villain – those are boring, people aren’t really like that, the worst people in history have reasons for what they do. Most people are complex.
    • There’s a dilemma for me, and it’s being torn between two lovers. Ross, as much as he loved Demelza, never let go of Elizabeth. Moral dilemma might not be the right term for loving two people. Is it possible for us to love two people? Is it morally right? People have needs and wants and you may or may not act on them, what the series explores is what happens when you do. It’s realistic in the terms of the complications the love triangle between Ross, Demelza and Elizabeth presents for various characters and how they react to something like this. Can you love two people? Absolutely. Should you? That’s the question, and the series doesn’t necessarily answers that questions decisively.
    • Elizabeth befriends the woman that’s a romantic rival, Demelza, because despite their differences in social class those two women connect on a deep level. I think that, if Ross wasn’t in the picture, they would be good friends.
    • Ross is a guy that really thinks he can do it all, he’s really old school in that he wants to manage everything himself. But he learns to depend on Demelza, and trust her to manage his affairs. He puts her in a higher status and esteem as a community leader than she would have been before. Throughout the series she becomes that community leader. That shows a trust, not just in terms of the romantic sense, but the trust that you have to rely on people when life has dealt you a lot of blows.

    BEST MOMENTS

‘240 years on from the American War of Independence here we are, a British and American chatting like equals'.

‘If you can’t be with the one you love, love the one you’re with'.

‘The game of life is a simple one, but we human players are complex'.

‘We all love the romantic, attraction, sizzle, chemistry, bodice-ripper romance, but the best relationships really have that foundation of friendship, respect and commonality'.
