    Book of Mark, Part 6

    Book of Mark, Part 6
Pastor Marc Sharp continues with Part 6 of the current series that is an epic journey through the New Testament Gospel of Mark, verse by verse. The book of Mark was most likely the first one written, and is generally attributed to John Mark, a close associate of Peter, and also of Paul and Barnabas. The Gospel of Mark is all about Jesus and the good news (Gospel) of the kingdom of God. How do we become members of this kingdom? Who was Jesus really, and why exactly did he come? Did he have compassion for those considered "unclean", the outcast of the world? The Meaning of “By His Stripes You Were Healed”

The Meaning of “By His Stripes You Were Healed”
Thousands of Christians use this passage to state that Jesus' work on the cross was not only for sin but also for sickness. They believe the healing this passage speaks of is referring to an immediate physical healing not only spiritual healing. They believe this healing can be applied now by faith. This interpretation belongs within the greater prosperity gospel position. But is it right? Are these people's interpretations of this passage accurate? Is Peter speaking of access to immediate physical healing through faith in Christ? In this episode of Real Christianity, pastor Dale Partridge applies the grammatical and historical hermeneutic to examine the words and context to arrive at a faithful reading and theological understanding of the passage.

Conscience. Moral facts. Beethoven's 3rd. Isle of Skye.

I’ve been preaching … about how our conscience is not our guide. God’s word is our guide. It is never wrong, and our conscience often is.

I’ve been reading … about moral facts, and whether they exist. Our children are being taught that they do not, and that explains a great deal about children today.

I’ve been hearing … Beethoven’s 3rd symphony, the Eroica. It’s a story about heroes — the ones who let you down, and the ones who push through adversity and achieve greatness.

I’ve been playing … Isle of Skye. My preconceptions were keeping me from playing my favorite board game designer’s most popular game. Now I know better.
