    Color: Violet, White, Rainbow, and gold

    Element: No element, pure light. 

    Symbol: Thousand Petalled Lotus

    Purpose: Your crown chakra is your connection to Source. It is the chakra center of knowing that you are a part of the Universe and that the Universe is part of you. 

    When your crown chakra is in balance: You have a higher state of consciousness and a feeling of inner peace that we are all interconnected. Limiting beliefs disappear when the crown chakra is aligned and you are capable of creating and manifesting  

    When your crown chakra is out of balance: You make fear-based decisions and actions, feelings of loneliness can be consuming, and you turn down meaningful connections with others.  

    Crystals to open your crown: Amethyst, Clear Quartz, Selenite, Ametrine

    Aromatherapy/Essential Oils to strengthen your crown: Cedarwood, Jasmine, Lavender, Rose

    Rituals and Practices to help open your crown chakra:

    THIRD EYE CHAKRA | AJNA

    I SEE

    Location: Brow / Center of your forehead

    Color: Indigo or White

    Element: All of the elements in their pure form; light. 

    Purpose: Intuition, inner perception, clarity of thought, and spiritual guidance.

    When your third eye is in balance: You are able to step beyond the perceptions of the mind and into a realm of knowledge and wisdom that allows you to see and understand a deeper meaning for situations and experiences in life. When the Ajna is open, you both see and understand. Remembering your dreams is a sign that your third eye is flourishing, as well as a heightened sense of "knowing" and seeing energy or auras. 

    When your third eye is out of balance: We confuse information with knowledge and often exhibit arrogance and follow self-limiting thoughts and behaviors. We forget to trust our intuition, which in turn, further depletes the power of the Ajna. When the third eye is out of balance you may experience nightmares, feelings of brain fog, and inability to make strong decisions.

    Crystals for your third eye: Amethyst, Diamond, Lepidolite, Blue Topaz

    Aromatherapy/Essential Oils to strengthen your third eye: Clary Sage, Sandalwood, Neroli, Peppermint

    Rituals and Practices to help open your third eye:

    • If you experience headaches or eye strain (often causes by too much screen time) go outdoors and focus peacefully on nature. The color green is healing for the third eye, so surrounding yourself in trees and focusing on their brilliance will help settle this chakra.
    • Touch the location between your brows of your third eye, close your eyes, and visualize white light beaming into this area. 
    • Repeat these mantras: "I am open and guided by my intuition", "My intuition has clarity, wisdom, and divine guidance", "I seek to always learn and grow from my life experiences", and "I trust and follow my intuition".

    When your throat chakra is out of balance: you feel out of place, shut down, and depression may result in not sharing your truth. The thyroid is associated with your throat chakra and is affected when there are blockages. 

    Crystals for your throat chakra: Sapphire, Turquoise, Blue Topaz

    Aromatherapy/Essential Oils to heal your throat chakra: Peppermint, Lavender, Chamomile  

    Rituals and Practices to help open your throat Chakra:

    • Sing! Don't hold back, just let it all out! Humming and chanting are also great for opening your throat chakra. HUM is the word associated with the throat. 
    • Gently tap your throat area a few times when you are feeling your expression "stuck", this will relax and open it. 
    • Practice speaking your truth in from a mirror, alone, or with anyone your trust. The more you practice the easier it becomes.

Your heart chakra is the gateway between your body and spirit, the strength of it determining your ability to give and receive unconditional love. This chakra is beautifully emotional and pushes us forward to grow and develop emotionally. 

    When your Heart Chakra is in balance: You are able to emanate unconditional love, the highest and purest form of love. You are connected spiritually and propelled to grow emotionally. 

    When your Heart Chakra is out of balance: You "shut down" and may begin to fear the feelings associated with love. You may feel unloveable, wanting, and needing love but not clear on how to obtain it. When the heart chakra is closed it causes feelings of co-dependency, jealousy, and unhealthy partnership. 

    Crystals for your Heart Chakra: Pink quartz, clear quartz, jade, green calcite

    When your Solar Plexus is in balance: Your light shines bright, your aura expands, and you attract others with light. You are confident and fears subside, any depression turns to joy, and your insecurities melt away. When your solar plexus chakra is balanced, you make clear and confident decisions, without judgment and your personal identity shines bright. 

    When your Solar Plexus is out of balance: You shut down your light and take action from the place of your ego. You also have feelings of being imbalanced with a depletion of energy and you may also become self-sabotaging with a want and need to control others. When your Manipura is blocked, so is your entire energy system and you may experience lower back pain or digestion issues along with a lack of confidence.

    Purpose: Your Root Chakra is your connection to the Earth's vibration. It is what gives you your sense of safety, security, sexuality, sensuality, and for women, is the energetic center for your ovaries, reproduction, and hormonal health and balancing. The energy of this system begins with the earth, rises through your feet, into your legs, and then ignites your root chakra. 

    When your Root Chakra is in Balance: You feel connected to the earth as well as centered and grounded within yourself. You are also sexually healthy (physically, mentally, and emotionally) and are able to sensually express your femininity. When this is balanced you have an overall sense of safety and stability and are able to process and expel negative emotions.

    When your Root Chakra is out of Balance: You may experience hormone dysfunction, feelings of being “unsafe” and unloved, you may feel disconnected from yourself and others, and often experience a need to over-consume food, hoard money or goods, and sex may become un-fulfilling. 

    Rituals and Practices to help boost alignment of your Root Chakra:

    • Take a nature walk if possible, if not, try and find a place to plant your bare feet on the earth.
    • Wear the color red
    • Consume red juices, red fruits, and root vegetables
    • Listen to this meditation or meditate in silence while visualizing nature, the earth, and feelings of being connected and "rooted"

    Mindfully Together: Mental Noting/Thought Labeling Meditation

    If you want to skip the intro and get straight to the meditation, skip to 4:30 in this episode.

    If you’ve ever thought, “I can’t meditate, because my brain always keeps thinking!” Mental noting, or thought labeling, might be a helpful type of meditation for you, because it lets your brain think, but then let go of the thought and come back to the present moment, instead of just going all the way down the thought path.

    For me, the more I practice this in meditation, the more I am able to do it in real life. Because if your brain is anything like mine, you might relate to the mode my brain can get in a lot - where I’ll get stuck ruminating and my brain just goes into an anxiety spiral and I can’t get out of it… but if I can observe what is happening, and note, “oh there goes my brain again” - it can take myself out of the spiral for a second and look at it more objectively, and maybeee stop the spiral.

    And that is what we’re going to practice in today’s meditation. We will be gentle with ourselves as different thoughts pop up, and we’ll just observe them, be aware of them, and then maybe try to release them. 

    So sit or lay down, relax, and let's meditate together!

    Mindfully Together: Gratitude meditation

    Happy Thanksgiving, to those who celebrate! But whether you're celebrating or not, I think we can all use a little extra gratitude.

    This is the 4th edition of Mindfully Together, a series of meditations we'll doing here on Mentally Together. Get comfy and listen up, and we hope it provides a few minutes of calm and relaxation in your day.

    Today I will lead you through a 10-minute gratitude meditation, where we will be checking in with our breath and tuning into the gratitude in our lives. It sounds cheesy, but for me, remembering that I have things to be grateful for does sometimes help me through the sad days (I also totally recognize that there are times this can NOT help at all...). Another thing that's really been helping me lately is just checking into, "hey, how am I actually feeling right now?" And meditating helps me be able to do that. It's helpful, even when how I'm "actually feeling" is depressed, anxious, or all of the above...

    So get comfy (you don't even have to sit still) and enjoy this meditation.

    This is the second edition of Mindfully Together, a series of meditations we'll doing here on Mentally Together. Get comfy and listen up, and we hope it provides a few minutes of calm and relaxation in your day.

    Today I will lead you through a 10-minute breathing meditation, where we will be checking in with our breath - not trying to change it, just noticing how it feels in this moment. For me, tuning into my breath has become a really useful tool for my anxiety, ADHD, and just everyday life. When my brain starts bouncing all over the place, or I get stressed or upset about life, I try to remind myself that I have my breath, and I'm ok, right now.

    So get comfy (you don't even have to sit still) and enjoy this meditation.
