Episode 83 - Back to the Good Old Days: Thanksgiving Debates, Christmas Recollections, and Sensory Dives

Strap yourselves in for a nostalgia trip as we journey back to simpler times. Ever been left out of the turkey leftovers club after a Thanksgiving feast? Ricky certainly felt the sting this year and it sparked a delightful debate about the merits of pre-made meals versus traditional home-cooked ones. From the joys of winter bundling and fireplace magic, we weave our way through childhood Christmas memories, reminiscing about how changing technology is shaping new traditions.

Have you ever found solace in the smell of gasoline or the taste of envelope glue? Well, you're in good company. We dive into a hilarious discussion on sensory experiences, our evolving tastes and how even the most mundane tasks - like paying bills - can become quite the conversation starter. We stir the pot further with a passionate debate on the distinct flavors and aromas of coffee and cigars, and share how our senses have been altered post-COVID-19.

Now, who doesn't love the sound of an ice cream truck? We're sharing our favorite treats and childhood toys, lamenting the decline of traditional playthings in favor of digital ones. We also touch on our recent adventures in Costa Rica and give you a sneak peek into our new merch line-up. And just for good measure, we discuss iconic Christmas films - both old and new - guaranteed to sweep you off your feet and wrap you in a cozy blanket of Yuletide nostalgia. So pull up a chair, grab your headphones, and prepare for a wild ride filled with laughter, shared memories, and the warm fuzzies.

Episode 74 - Your Brain is a Story Processor

Episode 74 - Your Brain is a Story Processor

Our brains are story processors. Stories carry meaning, and we hear the stories that match our world view. Our minds are not logic processors. That's why Andrew Wilkow is unlikely to persuade people. Stories are what convince people of ideas.

The American Dream is a Story. It is told again and again in shows like 1883 and 1923, where lives are risked in the quest for a better life that the government will not steal from you.

Episode 74 - Cycling Through Entertainment Landscape: From Bikes to Big Screens

Episode 74 - Cycling Through Entertainment Landscape: From Bikes to Big Screens

How would you navigate a world where bicycles replace cars, and what would be the implications of such a change in our transportation systems? Buckle up for a gripping discussion on this radical concept, as we scrutinize the potential challenges, safety considerations, and the impact on courtesy and respectability.

Ready to maximize your home entertainment experience? We're sharing some valuable tips to get the best out of your sound system. Plus, join us as we explore the HBO Max show Winning Time, which brilliantly depicts the Lakers' championship run.

Along the way, we'll also be weaving in some nostalgia, reminiscing about our high school football days, our favorite players, and the significance of our jersey numbers. 300 - Bass Reeves on Acid: Trippin’ in the Wild West

300 - Bass Reeves on Acid: Trippin’ in the Wild West

LSD is a powerful, mind-bending drug. Only a crazy person would try and tell a coherent and compelling two-hour-plus historical narrative while frying their brain on the equivalent of four hits of acid. And well... I am that crazy person. Today, to celebrate the 300th episode of Timesuck, I try and pull this story off immediately after dropping two double-hits of LSD. And things get.... weird. Also, what an amazing story! Bass Reeves' name and story are finally getting more exposure and it's about damn time! There's a good reason some people think Bass is the real-life inspiration for the Lone Ranger. This guy was a borderline superhero. Quick on the draw, fearless, and possession a relentless sense of justice, if you were and outlaw and Bass had ahold of your warrant.... you were as good as caught. Or as good as dead. The man was like a Wild West Boba Fett. He was the best at one of the hardest jobs in the Wild West  - a Deputy Marshal tracking down wanted men - and the occasional wanted woman - in Indian Territory, an especially lawless land that sat where present day Oklahoma now stands. Adventure awaits in today's yip, yip, yaw episode of Timesuck.

The Chosen | Actor Jordan Walker Ross

The Chosen | Actor Jordan Walker Ross

Actor Jordan Walker Ross from The Chosen, 1883, and host of "What's Your Limp" opens up on the 39th Episode of All Heart with Paul Cardall about the challenges of working in Hollywood with a disability. scoliosis and minor cerebral palsy.  Jordon says he has a noticeable limp, very limited flexibility in his torso and legs. He says he's much shorter than the average person [5’4”] so his physical differences have negatively impacted his opportunities as an actor. He's been told by directors to" lose the limp" and has been cut from productions because it was too noticeable. The Chosen director Dallas Jenkins noticed Jordan's disability during his audition and later on set after Jordan was cast as one of the 12 Apostles Jenkins asked Jordon if he could write his disability into his role. Jordon is also currently on the Yellowstone prequel 1883 also starring Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. He plays a pioneer immigrating from Europe. Jordon is also the popular podcast host of What’s Your Limp? in which he’ll talk to guests about their own struggles and insecurities. His past credits include guest starring roles in TV shows such as Nickelodeon's Just Jordan, HBO's True Blood & Comedy Central's Reno 911, in addition to several inducement films.

    JORDAN WALKER ROSS

Jordan is an actor, screenwriter, host and public speaker based out of Dallas, TX. He was born in 1990 in Arlington, TX, 2 months premature. This led to several medical issues - specifically minor cerebral palsy, severe scoliosis & even more severe asthma. Because of these conditions, Jordan spent much of his early life in and out of hospitals, undergoing countless medical procedures. Unlike other children, Jordan was never able to play sports or overexert himself. So, he was forced to find other hobbies. He was 6 when he discovered his love for acting after being cast in a local production of A Christmas Carol (playing Tiny Tim). By the time he was 16, Jordan had appeared in over 40 professional productions throughout Texas and California. He ventured into the film/TV when he was 12 - following in his grandpa's footsteps - actor Barry Corbin. Jordan is currently a series regular on The Chosen - the largest crowd-funded project of all-time! He is also a key antagonist in the upcoming historical drama, Washington’s Armor and has several other projects in various stages of development.
