21: Verloren gewaande film laat zien hoe Brabant écht was
Bonus: Deep Dive - Why Sam Snead Plays Girls for Money

Bonus: Deep Dive - Why Sam Snead Plays Girls for Money

Sam Snead is without question one of the greatest golfers of all time. He is known for many things but most remember his smooth golf swing. Equally as impressive is his trophy case. He still shares the record for most wins on the PGA (82).   In this episode of "Did I Tell You About My Albatross," host Albi introduces a new bonus series that delves deeper into the greatest golf stories and Slamming Sammy certainly owns one. On a beautiful day in 1962, Sam became the first and only Man to win an LPGA Tour Event. Albi dives deep to understand better who Sam Snead was, why he chose to compete in an LPGA, and why this was even a thing.

The crew will be back for another traditional episode of DITYAMA early next week.

Until then, enjoy the amazing tale of Sam Snead.

    A Night to Remember (1958)

    A Night to Remember (1958)

We are recognizing the 110th anniversary of the Titanic tragedy that occurred in 1912. A Night to Remember (1958) is a critically acclaimed film based off of Walter Lord's book of the same name; it has been noted for its incredible accuracy in detailing the events that lead to this ship's demise. We discuss not only elements of the movie, but the real events that took place on that devastating April night.  Although this story is heartbreaking, it also features enormous stories of courage and compassion in the face of adversity.  We truly found this film inspiring and hope you'll join us as we recall A Night to Remember (1958).

09: Comedy Should Punch Up, Not Sink: A Review on "Titanique" A Parody Musical Concert (Feat. Adara Bryan)

WARNING: This episode contains explicit language of the sexual nature due to direct quotation of the show and commentary on the material in "Titanique".

After a year of Broadway being dark, it was no surprise that Adara and I were THRILLED to be able to purchase tickets and watch a a live streamed performance of a new parody musical that just so happened to be a parody of Titanic (1997).  Welp, the show wasn't all smooth sailing,  and certainly was not spared a disastrous end.

I am a firm believer that  comedy should punch up, make your audience connect the dots, don't just drown them in d**k jokes.

James Cameron's Titanic-The Ship of Dreams comes to Life Again

James Cameron's Titanic-The Ship of Dreams comes to Life Again

At 11:40PM on April 14th, Titanic met her match, in the shape of an iceberg.

At 2:20 AM April 15th, after only 5 days on the sea, she slipped beneath never to see the light of day again.

Living forever in a perpetual world of darkness…..

In memory of the 1,496 who didn't make it...

In a special memorial episode of The Movie Commentary Podcast, I bring you the episode that I have been waiting to do ever since I saw this podcast.

James Cameron’s film Titanic became a landmark point in film history when it was released in 1997. It became the first film to gross over $1 billion at the box office. It held the record for highest grossing film of all time for over 10 years. It tied the record for most Oscars won for a film (11). It is also seen by many as one of film’s last great epics. Movies that are made on a big scale, with giant set pieces and thousands of extras.

For fans of the actual ship itself, it brought the ship back to life. Never before had people seen the RMS Titanic sail in beautiful sunlight in living moving color. It brought us the joys of sailing to a new world for hundreds of immigrants. It brought us the elegance of the first class. It brought us the suspense of hoping, pleading that she would somehow miss the iceberg. It brought us the crushing realization that this beautiful ship, thought to be unsinkable by some, is going to sink. It brought us the horror of how terrible that night must have been for those who couldn’t get a lifeboat. And finally, it brought us the grief and sadness that the real passengers felt when they realized the people they grew to love didn’t make it.

Simply put, no movie, no experience puts you on Titanic like this movie does.

Listen along as we dive into several key components of this great film. From several key historical events to fictional components to interesting behind the scenes stories, this is an episode you won’t want to miss.
