Our first Elvis movie and we get into what we thought about his nipples right away! We watch Kid Galahad, the remake, and realize right away it's not up to the same caliber than the original, but did we like it better? Maybe...
Besides Elvis's nipples, we also talk about Charles Bronson's unexplained limp, the music in the film, and a bevy of strange lines. Let's all go to Cream Valley, NY (gross) and duke it out!
Next film: Wimbledon
Wimbledon isn't streaming anywhere for free so either rent it or check out your local library.

1962 KCBS documentary "The Silent Thunder" looks back on the Pacific Theater during World War 2. Reporter Fred Goerner interviews a number of people, including Pacific Fleet Commander in Chief Admiral Chester Nimitz. He also visits Tinian Island, the launching point for the atomic bomb attacks on Japan.
Godzilla is such a pop culture icon that we thought it would be a great idea to dive into some of his more iconic outings this month on Behind the Hype, starting with the third film in the series: King Kong vs. Godzilla. Apart from one problem spot, the film is quite a delight and features everything fun you would expect from a showdown of two pop culture titans.

What's up to my salubrious space racers and mercurial Motor City mastodons! (That's gotta be a Roller Derby team btw)
It's October 14, 1962 in Suburban Detroit. John Glenn has just months earlier become the first American to orbit the Earth. John F. Kennedy in May has asked Congress for $531 million dollars (equivalent to $4.6 billion today) to put a man on the moon by the end of the decade. The first Walmart discount store is opened up in Bentonville, Arkansas. Andy Warhol paints a can of Campbell Soup. And, an American U-2 Spy Plane doing reconnaissance over Cuba captures photographic proof of the Soviets installing nuclear missile bases on the island nation, just 90 miles off the coast of Florida.
Unbeknownst to the American public, including my Mom, who was celebrating her 13th birthday that day, the Cuban Missile Crisis has begun.
Last episode we examined the Cuban Missile Crisis from a geopolitical and logistical perspective. This episode we look at the events from a personal, emotional and psychological perspective.
To achieve this mighty feat of righteous nostalgia we turn to my wonderful Mom, who was kind enough to join the pod and take a trip down memory lane, helping us to re-live those tense days in middle October 1962.
This is a fun one folks! Jump in, do the Mashed Potato, or the Twist, or the Watusi, and enjoy this diner-lit, drive-in episode of a remarkable chapter from a bygone era.
