E65 - Ascend Wellness teams up to sue the federal government over 280E and interstate commerce

E65 - Ascend Wellness teams up to sue the federal government over 280E and interstate commerce

On this episode of the High Rise, Cy and Emily talk about Ascend Wellness Holdings (AWH) banding together with other prominent cannabis businesses to sue the federal government over what they believe to be unconstitutional policies that are impending their operations. AWH has tapped the famous law firm Boies, Schiller Flexner to help them bring this case all the way up SCOTUS if they can garner enough support, and it definitely sounds like they do.

Make sure to stream this at 1x speed, as there are many details Cy and Emily cover that go beyond the headlines of this latest story to come out of the cannabis industry. As always we thank you for listening and please remember to rate and subscribe to the High Rise wherever you get your podcasts.

E52 - Pretty pretty pretty good episode, NJ & NM finally did it, NY does 280E, and 420 the 'high holiday'

What’s good High Risers! We have another fun episode in store for you this week. No guest this time but Cy and Emily hold down a fun fact, laid backed, data backed conversation that covers a lot of ground from the world of cannabis.

The state of New Jersey has finally been able to open up some adult use retail shops across the state — bong-a-bing! New Mexico has also launched their adult use sales program, very exciting spot in the US to have cannabis retail available for the people. Cy and Emily discuss some of the finer details of how these states are making it work.

The great state of New York has launched their own 280E tax provision that lets cannabis companies get some much needed tax relief and benefits — a huge win and important acknowledgment by the state that they understand some help in this regard is much needed.

Finally our hosts chat about preparing for another 420 ‘high holiday’ and the sales bonanza that it’s proven to be all these years, and how it seems to be evolving — plus some pretty pretty good data to share about the holiday.

As always we think you’re going to enjoy listening to some great banter from Cy and Emily as they tie it all into the important topics of the day in this amazing industry. Please remember to rate and subscribe to the High Rise wherever you stream your podcasts from and stay tuned for next episode!

E33 - Matt Hawkins founder and managing partner of Entourage Effect Capital talks about the recent news with Harborside in California

Greetings High-Risers! We are excited to share this latest episode with you. Our special guest Matt Hawkins who is the founder and managing partner of Entourage Effect Capital gives us a bit of an inside scoop behind the recent Harborside/StateHouse Holdings definitive agreement in California.

In essence, this is a three way merger between Harborside, Urban Leaf, and Loudpack that will fall under one corporate name, which will be StateHouse Holdings. It's a monumental move with one of California's longest standing dispensaries since the very beginning of medical and adult use recreational cannabis.

It's exciting to hear about the future progress that this move will bring, not only for the aforementioned companies, but for the entire legal California market as well. As always we hope you enjoy this informative discussion and that you'll remember to subscribe to the podcast wherever you stream from.
