On today's show we talk with Capt. Justin Leake of Panama City Inshore out of Panama City, FL. He tells us about hand lining Goliath grouper when they become bothersome over the wrecks he is fishing. It isn't the main topic of the show but he does tell us how he does it, I just couldn't pass on such a catchy episode title. Nonetheless, the fishing in PCB is as hot as ever with the offshore and nearshore wrecks leading the action. Justin explains why the full moon in May is important to the various snapper species and how impacts the wreck fishery. This is another great episode from Capt. Justin packed with tips and local intel.

We talk about the Spring time bite and it sounds like it is completely transitioned to the Spring patterns. The Cobia numbers are improved so far this year over the previous few years, the Spanish, jack crevelle, redfish & pompano have all taken up their spring time residence on the beach, so if you can get a weather window to check it out, it will be worth the effort this time of year. Inshore the bay fishing has come alive as the trout are starting to spawn as the bait moves back in. All in all, it's a great time of year to get out on the water!

On today's episode we talk with Capt. Lionel James of Lion's Tale Adventures out of Destin, FL. He tells us about the red hot sheepshead bite at the Destin Bridge. The weather has been dicey at best and on those Spring days when the wind is howling & a cold front shuts down the other species, that's when its time to get after the Sheepshead. You can even exit your vessel and fish directly from a piling if it is too bumpy. Hopefully warmer water temps are right around the corner and a few consecutive days will push things into Spring.

Inshore, Capt. Lionel tells us about a recent trip where a neap tide, a full moon and an East Wind really shut the fish down. On the plus side, that should make for some great fishing in a few days or so once things get back to normal and the water quality improves. This is all dependent on the rainfall amounts but assuming it doesn't rain t=in the foreseeable future, things should continue to stabilize.

On today's episode we talk to Capt. Brant Peacher of AnglerUp with Brant out of Pensacola, FL. He tells us about fishing the bridges for monster bull reds. We find out his preferred bait and method of fishing for them. The good news about fishing bridges is that they also hold a ton of other species. In Pensacola it is not uncommon to catch red snapper, redfish, mangrove snapper or even a king mackerel or tarpon all from the bridge area. If you are coming to pensacola from out of town, this is a great podcast for you!

On today's episode we talk with Capt. Justin Leake out of Panama City Beach, FL about the upcoming Tarpon migration. It's a little early, so we figured this would be a good time to talk about the baits that consistently hook tarpon in PCB & how to present them to the big schools that should be showing up along the beaches in the next several weeks. As we have been saying all week, early June is one of the best times to get on the water in the Panhandle. With Red Snapper season opening up this weekend and Tarpon showing up soon we are quickly entering into one of my favorite times of the year!

We also hear about a recent ladies fly casting clinic that he hosted, sounds like they all had a lot of fun!

He tells us about a road trip he took to the "new" pier in PCB and the success he and some of the other anglers had there. We also hear a little more about a recent trip offshore and talk about the fun (and effort) that goes into fly casting. All in all, it sounds like things are moving in the right direction as we enter one of the sweet spots, where there are more fish available to target than most of us have time to fish. A great problem to have!
