Panama City Beach Report: Hand Lining Monster Goliath Grouper

Panama City Beach Report: Hand Lining Monster Goliath Grouper

On today's show we talk with Capt. Justin Leake of Panama City Inshore out of Panama City, FL. He tells us about hand lining Goliath grouper when they become bothersome over the wrecks he is fishing. It isn't the main topic of the show but he does tell us how he does it, I just couldn't pass on such a catchy episode title. Nonetheless, the fishing in PCB is as hot as ever with the offshore and nearshore wrecks leading the action. Justin explains why the full moon in May is important to the various snapper species and how impacts the wreck fishery. This is another great episode from Capt. Justin packed with tips and local intel.

Panama City Beach Report: The Spring Bite is on Fire

Panama City Beach Report: The Spring Bite is on Fire

On today's episode we talk with Capt. Justin Leake of Panama City Inshore out of Panama City Beach, FL. We talk about the Spring time bite and it sounds like it is completely transitioned to the Spring patterns. The Cobia numbers are improved so far this year over the previous few years, the Spanish, jack crevelle, redfish & pompano have all taken up their spring time residence on the beach, so if you can get a weather window to check it out, it will be worth the effort this time of year. Inshore the bay fishing has come alive as the trout are starting to spawn as the bait moves back in. All in all, it's a great time of year to get out on the water!

Destin Report: Sheepshead on the Cold Fronts

Destin Report: Sheepshead on the Cold Fronts

On today's episode we talk with Capt. Lionel James of Lion's Tale Adventures out of Destin, FL. He tells us about the red hot sheepshead bite at the Destin Bridge. The weather has been dicey at best and on those Spring days when the wind is howling & a cold front shuts down the other species, that's when its time to get after the Sheepshead. You can even exit your vessel and fish directly from a piling if it is too bumpy. Hopefully warmer water temps are right around the corner and a few consecutive days will push things into Spring.

Destin Report: Spanish Mackerel Have Arrived!

Destin Report: Spanish Mackerel Have Arrived!

On today's episode we talk with Capt. Lionel James of Lion's Tale Adventures out of Destin, FL. We talk about the great weather over the last few days and how that has helped push everything further into the Spring pattern. The Spanish are thick and the Pompano are showing up in decent numbers. Early season Cobia are sure to be pushing up the beaches as well. There are a lot of species to target this time of year and its a great time to get on the water and the good news is that it is only going to get better from here!

Destin Report: Sheepshead on the Bridge

Destin Report: Sheepshead on the Bridge

On today's show, we talk with Capt. Lionel James of Lion's Tale Adventures out of Destin, FL. We talk about the Sheepshead bite that has been on fire lately around the bridge and pass in Destin. It sounds like things haven't quite taken off for spring just yet but with a few more warm days I think its right around the corner. Lionel also tells us about the upcoming episode of "Lion's Tales" on Waypoint that he has been putting together, so be sure to check him out there and on Youtube.

Destin Report: AJ's & Slow Inshore Bite

Destin Report: AJ's & Slow Inshore Bite

On today's episode we talk with Capt. Lionel James of Lion's Tale Adventures out of Destin, FL. We talk about the hot nearshore & offshore bite where AJ's were the target. Plan to get into plenty of out of season Red Snapper & Triggerfish as well. There might also be a king or sailfish hanging around too, so don't forget to put out a free-lined live bait. Inshore, Capt. Lionel tells us about a recent trip where a neap tide, a full moon and an East Wind really shut the fish down. On the plus side, that should make for some great fishing in a few days or so once things get back to normal and the water quality improves. This is all dependent on the rainfall amounts but assuming it doesn't rain t=in the foreseeable future, things should continue to stabilize.

Panama City Beach Report: It's Tarpon Time (Almost)

On today's episode we talk with Capt. Justin Leake out of Panama City Beach, FL about the upcoming Tarpon migration. It's a little early, so we figured this would be a good time to talk about the baits that consistently hook tarpon in PCB & how to present them to the big schools that should be showing up along the beaches in the next several weeks. As we have been saying all week, early June is one of the best times to get on the water in the Panhandle. With Red Snapper season opening up this weekend and Tarpon showing up soon we are quickly entering into one of my favorite times of the year!

A great problem to have!
