Healing Money Trauma and Becoming Financially Resilient

Healing Money Trauma and Becoming Financially Resilient

Healing from financial abuse or trauma can feel scary. Our nervous system may have been used to being hypervigilant and disempowered around money due to generational trauma and not understanding our neurodivergence. Many of us don't understand the energy of money, and so much shame can be attached to our sense of self, self-worth and our unconscious relationship to money.

This week's episode features the incredible Catherine Morgan, a multi-award-winning qualified Financial Adviser, Certified Financial Coach, Financial Abuse Specialist ®, Inherited family trauma healer, and financial therapist who specialises in helping women feel more deserving of holding money through somatic, therapeutic, and practical tools. Catherine is on a mission to reduce financial anxiety and increase financial empowerment & resilience for 1 million people worldwide.

In this episode of the ADHD Women's Wellbeing Podcast, Catherine and Kate speak about:

    • The connection between your nervous system and your wealth
    • Why practising gratitude can increase your ability to hold money
    • How to explore your past family trauma around money
    • Letting go of old beliefs you have about your ability to make money
    • Catherine's mission is to empower women to hold and attract wealth
    • How Catherine came to her diagnosis of ADHD
    • Understanding our financial core beliefs and healing for the next generation
    • Using somatic practices to heal from financial trauma
    • Her inspiring journey to want to help women with their finances
    • What financial control and abuse can look like

    Episode 90 Routes to diagnosis

    Episode 90 Routes to diagnosis

In Episode 90, Alex and James are joined by the incredible Dr Nick Britchford, who James describes as 'rocking horse shit' as he is someone SO difficult to find: a qualified psychiatrist, GP AND someone with ADHD. Alongside information about the different routes to getting a diagnosis, personal reflections and top tippics  the usual bits of nonsense occur, including  'What has James lost, forgotten or mislaid this week?"...

Episode 33: Special Guest Episode - Tom Watson

Episode 33: Special Guest Episode - Tom Watson

Episode 33 of The ADHD Adults sees Tom Watson, former Deputy Leader of the Labour Party,  join Alex and James to talk publicly for the first time about his recent ADHD diagnosis.

In a frank and light-hearted conversation, Tom shares his diagnosis to increase awareness of the toll that untreated ADHD can cost the individual and society.

From a lifetime of messy lockers and lost textbooks to being told off by the General Secretary of the Labour Party for an untidy desk, Tom shares the emotional journey required to reframe a life-time of feeling like “The World’s Hardest Working Lazy Person” with a reason for many of his self-doubts and self-criticisms. Taking inspiration from many sources in the media, such as the Adrian Chiles Guardian article on his own ADHD life as well as getting information and support from the ADHD Adults themselves.

Tom talks about the reasons for seeking a diagnosis, the response from his loved ones and the power of getting to grips with discovering he has a neurodevelopmental disorder later in life.
We also manage a game of "What has james lost, forgotten or mislaid" where Tom and Alex go head to head.

Episode 27: Adapting to an ADHD Diagnosis

Episode 27: Adapting to an ADHD Diagnosis

In Episode 27, Alex and James discuss the challenge of adapting to a diagnosis of ADHD, and how it challenges our identity, both positively and negatively.   As usual, the three poorly presented elements of psychoeducation, personal reflections and tips are covered.  As usual,  correspondence from listeners, probably including something from  'Robert from Kidderminster' and Alex is forced yet again to play 'What has James forgotten, lost or mislaid this week?"  James tinkers with Alex's script and Alex enjoys correcting James's grammar

Ep. 913 - Public Schools Are LGBT Indoctrination Camps

Ep. 913 - Public Schools Are LGBT Indoctrination Camps

Today on the Matt Walsh Show, an elementary school holds a gay pride march right through the hallways of the school. Plus, the confirmation hearings for Judge Kentanji Brown Jackson have begun, and Democrats have already made it clear that any tough questioning of the judge will automatically be racist and bigoted. Also, the Daily Wire is now selling men’s grooming products. Like so much of what we do here, it’s a joke but also not a joke at all. And the mayor of Boston commemorates St Patrick’s Day by making racist jokes about white people. And the media tells us about a rise in ADHD among not only children but adults as well. Are so many of us suffering from a mysterious mental illness, or could there be a more logical explanation for our inability to focus?

    Episode 8: Pre-diagnosis Experience

    Episode 8: Pre-diagnosis Experience

In Episode 8,  James and Alex are joined to James's horror by James's wife (AKA Mrs ADHD), Sam, who has been referred for diagnosis but is waiting. In this episode, Alex discusses with Sam what it is like to wait for a diagnosis, and what the nightmare of living with James is like. A twist on  'What did James lose or forget this week?" takes place, and in general, an awful time is had by James to Alex's glee.

    Ep. 64 - We're All Mentally Disordered

    Ep. 64 - We're All Mentally Disordered

The drug companies and the psychiatric industry have turned nearly every human emotion, trait, characteristic, and weakness into symptoms of mental diseases. Often they do so by pushing thoroughly debunked theories like "chemical imbalancement." Before long, we will all be mentally disordered.
