CATFA 070: A Giant Steve-Shaped Hole in Her Heart

Minute Seventy: From KIA to Goings-On

Joining us on the show, we have Andrew and Joe Darowski returning from last season!

In the seventieth minute of Joe Johnston’s 2011 film Captain America: The First Avenger...

We talk more about Col. Phillips’ letter to Senator Brandt. So Steve is, in fact, a captain now? And why does he talk about the 3rd of November in such a strange way? Peggy enters – through the small door instead of the open side of the tent – just in time to hear Phillips’ assertion that Rogers was killed in action. We talk about the two actors, this conversation, struggles we have with it, as well as some positives as well, including Johnston’s smarts in staging a conversation like this cinematically.

We wrap the week up with this conversation. Tune in!

CATFA 056: Is It Raining? I Didn’t Even Notice.

Minute Fifty-Six: From Colonel Phillips Silencing Agent Carter to Howard’s Reveal as the Pilot

Joining us, we have Michael Gravagno, host of the podcasts The Superhero Show Show and Movie of the Year.

In the fifty-sixth minute of Joe Johnston’s 2011 film Captain America: The First Avenger...

Peggy runs after Steve, but not until after a brief reprimanding by Colonel Phillips. We get Mike’s thoughts on Tommy Lee. We also talk about the conversation between Peggy and Steve in the rain and the fact that it wasn’t scripted. Were they feeling they needed more to build the Peggy/Steve relationship? And we continue trying to figure out why Peggy and Howard are here.

We take to the skies. Tune in!

Minute Forty-Six: From Berlin on the Map to Steve’s Blood Draw

Joining us on the show today and the rest of the week, it’s Jessica Plummer, author of Sword, Stone and Table as well as the host of Flights and Tights: A Superman Movie Podcast.

In the forty-sixth minute of Joe Johnston’s 2011 film Captain America: The First Avenger...

We talk about Hutter’s, Schneider’s and Roeder’s expectations for this trip and what Schmidt planned from the start. We also talk about the Tesseract cannon that Schmidt uses on them and what it’s actually doing to them. Plus, we discuss what it leaves behind. From there, we move into a conversation about the Hydra salute and the Hydra comic origins. We debate if the outfits should’ve remained green and goofy like they are in the comics and draw a connection between their salute and Muppets Most Wanted. There’s some discussion about Dr. Zola’s reaction and where he stands with this whole Hydra thing. And we end the conversation returning to the SSR Base where Steve’s sullenly giving blood.

Schmidt’s kicking Hydra into high gear and we’re here for it. Tune in!

    Episode 13: Agent Carter

    Episode 13: Agent Carter

In this week's MCUC2C podcast Geoff and Paul take a brief diversion away from the movies to look at the Agent Carter TV series!

First introduced in the MCU in 'Captain America: The First Avenger', Agent Peggy Carter deservedly earned her solo show and absolutely flourished, owning it from the get-go!

Sadly the series only ran for two seasons before it was cancelled and this remains a source of regret for many Peggy Carter & Hayley Atwell fans.

Have a listen to our thoughts on Agent Carter's finest moments and join our Twitter @MCUc2c to let us know what you think!

    See you there!

Honestly, who else would we discuss for Katie’s birthday episode? Bill Hader?

(I mean, we would have, if Katie had thought of that.)

Katie leads Britt through a discussion of her favorite spy, Peggy Carter, including her (very disappointing) comic book appearances, (slightly less disappointing) film roles, and (absolutely delightful) TV show.

Ep. 75 - Almost MCU Heroes Pt. 1 - Link to part 2 & 3 in show notes

On this episode of Meanwhile Back On The Podcast, we are going to examine alternate universe versions of our favorite MCU characters. However, it’s not through some Dr. Strange multiverse shenanigans, or Loki’s mischief, that has afforded us this opportunity, but from even greater powers: Casting Directors. The four of us are jumping into the pod, to break down the actors that were considered for the biggest MCU roles, but through a twist of fate or just flat out disinterest, didn't make it to the screen. Although we aren’t convinced that turning Robert Downey Jr. into Nicolas Cage wouldn’t be the best Loki scheme ever.
