Reel Rankings: The Revival (Part 1): 2009-2012

Reel Rankings: The Revival (Part 1): 2009-2012

Soooo... last go-around wasn't so hot. But we do, in fact, like modern Disney, as is the case with the Revival Era. Here, we discuss and rank The Princess and the Frog, Tangled, Winnie the Pooh, and Wreck-It Ralph. This was more of a nostalgia trip for us, considering 2010s pop culture, and it was fun to revisit.

P.S. We recorded this before the "Recession" ranking, hence why I refer to Raeley as guest.

    The Hunchback of Notre Dame

    The Hunchback of Notre Dame

    Episode Summary

Erin and Rachel spend a lot of time wringing their hands over the mature themes in The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996), Disney’s animated film about a bell ringer in medieval France. The film underperformed at the box office; apparently, a children’s movie about adult sexuality is a bell you can’t un-ring. The depictions of disability and race induce further cringing that the dazzling music and visuals can’t completely overcome. Join the party!
