The Aliens are invading! The Hidden, Top 10 Alien Movies, Lifeforce vs Species

Ben & Steve’s Video Store has opened again. This month, the Aliens are invading! Watch the skies! Join the two movie geeks in their store (probably the last one on Planet Earth), as they talk about the following:

    • ‘Let’s Get Quizzical’ continues in its new version. Ben and Steve are quizzing each other on Leonard Maltin film reviews. Will you be able to guess what films Maltin is reviewing?
    • We’re popping into the Science Fiction Kitchen where we’ll be discussing the sci-fi horror, ‘The Hidden’
    • We’ll be ranking the top 10 alien movies from a list put together by esquire.com
    • For our Bargain Bin of the Month choice, we are choosing between ‘Lifeforce’ and ‘Species’. Which of these movies with sexy naked aliens will end up in our store’s bargain bin?

The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951)

The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951)

We're going back to 1951 and another formative film of classic science fiction as we discuss Robert Wise's The Day the Earth Stood Still. Listen as we explore the film's political messages and religious subtext, praise Gort as one of science fiction's mightiest robots, and propose the existence of a cinematic universe built around bit player Roy Engel. Warning: Contains explicit language, spoilers, and nucular.... um... nuclear proliferation.

Our theme song is "Nostalgia TV" by Edward Jonathan Blakeley through Lynne Publishing.

GeekAgenda052: How Many Carpenters Do We Need To Build An Abyss?

GeekAgenda052: How Many Carpenters Do We Need To Build An Abyss?

In which Thom & Andru are joined once again by Robbie Rist and Chris Jackson of The Spoon for a pop-culture potpourri roundtable which is equal parts thoughtful analysis and raging nerd fight. The topics are staggeringly numerous - foley, spoilerphobia, foot-shaving, and hoverboards, just to list a random two minute sample - but the conversational sea refuses no river. Plus, the best opening jam yet! (NSFW language abounds, for the record.)
