New Jabroni Pro-Wrestling w/ Daniel and Bonesaw: Royal Rumble and The New Beginning in Nagoya

New Jabroni Pro-Wrestling w/ Daniel and Bonesaw: Royal Rumble and The New Beginning in Nagoya
Royal Rumble again!? Daniel and Bonesaw put aside their respective disgust for WWE long enough to shoehorn in a conversation about the 2021 Royal Rumble before they get to what you actually care about: The New Beginning in Nagoya, baby! And also The Road to stuff that led up to it, I guess. If you're looking for match reviews, fair warning, we mostly talked about how great El Phantasmo was on commentary. Then we got into some really weird tangents. And then we couldn't figure out how to end it. Ok, I'll stop now.

Chaya Lev - Dancing out the hate and finding the joy

Chaya Lev - Dancing out the hate and finding the joy

Chaya Lev moved to Israel 4 years ago after surviving breast cancer at just forty years old.  She had booked an appointment with her doctor for a "routine" breast examination. At that time, everything in my life felt routine.  She was over-weight and over-stressed and was living in the shadow of happiness.  She received a wake up call that forever changed her life.

Now every day of her life is an adventure. Ordering coffee and speaking to interesting people is an adventure.  Going to the post office and finding new doctors (most of the time in my new language), is an adventure. Chaya is thriving and teaching dance here in Israel and has added activist to the long list of things she is doing to help others.

Pnina Rappeport - Dror for the Wounded Foundation - Falling in love with Israel

Pnina Rappeport - Dror for the Wounded Foundation - Falling in love with Israel

Pnina first fell in love with Israel when she came to spend a year in the country after finishing high school, on her gap year. She spent the year living in the old city while studying. It was crazy to believe that the very stones that housed her, held thousands of years of memories. In short, she fell in love with the history, the people and the hope that Israel has always brought and continues to bring.
Pnina returned to my home in Melbourne, Australia and began to feel a void that grew bigger as time went on. She diagnosed myself with FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out), from the action and history that is created every single day in Israel. Israel had become a huge part of her heart and it wasn't before long, she planned to make Aliyah. When the day of her Aliyah arrived, she left her family in tears as the infamous 'swallowing doors' by passport control took me away to my future. She felt like a shtetl jew going to the 'Goldener Medina', not knowing when or how she would see her family again (Australia was simply too far and expensive to fathom).
Pnina arrived in Israel and began life in the Merkaz Klita Ulpan in Jerusalem and made friends for life. A year in, she found her dream job, and met her husband. 2 years in, her sister and BFF, made Aliyah. 3 years in, her parents and my other sister followed them and made Aliyah too. A year after that, she and her sister were married 2 months of each other. Fast forward almost 9 years later, she and her husband are privileged to watch their 2 little kids grow up in this magical country.

    Dror for the Wounded Foundation:

The Dror for the Wounded Foundation helps wounded Israeli soldiers and provides these brave individuals with financial assistance for medical and psychological treatments, education and training, small construction projects, advocacy, and general financial aid. In allocating resources, we consider each soldier’s individual situation and need. Our aim is to make sure our soldiers get back on their feet and we do everything in our power to make sure that happens.

Devorah Kur - DKWellness - Asking 'what now?' instead of 'why me?'

Devorah Kur - DKWellness - Asking 'what now?' instead of 'why me?'

Devorah made aliyah in December 2011 with came with my husband and 3 out of her 4 daughters aged 10, 13 and 15. Her 17 year old stayed in South Africa to complete her final year of high school. She made aliyah a year later. It was an incredibly difficult aliyah as her family moved for her 'Zionistic dream'. Teenagers making aliyah was not simple from so many different aspects - social, cultural and of course the language. The first 6 months I was torn between my disbelief that she actually made aliyah and the privilege she felt to be living here, and the pain that her family was feeling. After 6 months of drying tears and trying to settle her family, it hit her one day that she had lost my Wellness practice, that nobody knew her professionally and she would have to start from scratch building up a Reflexology practice again.

Before Devorah made aliyah she ran a busy Reflexology practice from home. The year before she left she started studying Logotherapy which is the teachings of Dr Victor Frankl from his bestseller, 'Man's search for meaning.' She had started incorporating these teachings into my clinic because she felt that people were looking for meaning behind their illnesses and struggles and until then she was not able to help them. LY helps people ask "What now?" instead of "Why me?".

When Devorah knew they were coming to Israel, she told the lecturer, on old Africaner women who was Dr Frankls student, that she was unable to continue with the course because she was going to live in Israel. She said "Marvelous Devorah, I live in Modiin! I converted because of Dr Frankl and now live in Israel and teach a private group Logotherapy from my home. You are welcome to join!" So, soon after she made aliyah she joined the group and continued with the course. This was a lifesaver to Devorah as she made the aliyah transition. It was a huge turning point in her work as she started counseling people with life struggles and challenges. Of course the skills she learnt helped her with her own transition and helped her to help her family as well.

Devorah then went on to do a bereavement counseling course and studied mental imagery for healing and am currently studying Somatic Experience - emotional first aid for trauma.

Efrat Lev - Crossfit Trainer - Finding strength and discovering a passion

Efrat Lev - Crossfit Trainer - Finding strength and discovering a passion

Efrat Lev was born in Israel and immigrated to Australia at the age of 5. Her parents were Chabad shlichim in Sydney and my father was the Rabbi of the Israeli community there.  When she was 18.5 we moved back to Israel and settled in Efrat. She went to Midreshet Harova followed by Hebrew University where she got my degrees in International Relations and English Literature.  She also married my husband, who she had met in Australia and they have 3 children.

Efrat had bad scoliosis and asthma growing up and wore a back brace throughout high school. She was very academic and sports was never her thing. She was always picked last for teams in school and always preferred to sit on the side and read a book during Physical Ed classes.

Efrat's pregnancies were extremely difficult because she suffers from a condition called Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG), unrelenting vomiting throughout pregnancy.  Her last pregnancy six years ago was the most difficult. She was bed ridden, on IV medication and steroids and lost a lot of weight.  While many women focus on losing their baby weight after giving birth, she only wanted to get stronger. What started as just walking gave way to strength training with 2kg dumbbells and it was literally love at first sight. She was fortunate to have a home gym as her husband is an ironman,  as well as a doctor who has little time to get to a gym.

In that home gym she taught myself to powerlift with a small gym bar,  a hell of a lot of YouTube tutorials and a real determination in my heart to never be weak again.  When Crossfit opened in Efrat, a good friend told her she must try it out and even though she was still generally clumsy and hadn't trained in a group setting,  she went. Crossfit truly skyrocketed my potential and within months she was lifting weight she never thought possible.

The owner and head coach casually suggested she go to Wingate to get certified as a health and fitness coach and after 11 years of being a stay at home mum, Efrat embarked on a year of study. Upon receiving my certification,  she went on to get certified as a Crossfit Level 1 trainer and started working at Crossfit Gush. Along the way she also met her powerlifting coach who introduced me to the world of competitive lifting.

Although she trains men, women and children, her passion is to strength train women in all stages of life. There are so many myths and misconceptions regarding this field and it is her absolute passion to break the stereotypes and introduce women to the numerous benefits of strength training.

Rebecca Pash - Personal Trainer & Podcast Host - Happy Birthday to me!

Rebecca Pash - Personal Trainer & Podcast Host - Happy Birthday to me!

Born and raised in Manchester until the age of 18, I did a year in Israel with Bnei Akiva and came back to the UK to go to university in Leeds. I studied Sociology and moved to London for 2 years after I had finished my degree. After working for a Jewish NGO in London I decided I wanted to make aliya, so 13 years ago I took the second flight from the UK with NBN to Israel. I studied at Ulpan and then quickly moved to Tel Aviv. After many jobs, i worked in tourism, as a PA, online gaming and back to tourism I decided I really wanted to study to become a personal trainer.

The course was 7 months at Tel Aviv University and all in hebrew- which I was not fluent in. I was determined to pass so I worked double hard and translated all the courses in to English so I always knew what was happening in class, I passed and started working at Holmes Place Dizengoff Centre soon after. After a year and half working for minimum pay, I decided to take my profession outside and started working for myself at Toolbox gym. It’s been nearly 4 years of a lot of ups and downs and learning how to work for yourself and becoming a better trainer. I don't know if it was the best decision I made living in Israel alone with no family to support me here, but I care a lot about health and fitness and I really want to make a difference to women and show how they can become strong and look after their bodies.

Then this time last year I decided, after listening to hours and hours of podcasts that I would like to start my own podcast -  focusing on women who had made aliyah and started businesses or just had a great aliyah story to share. It’s been a major learning curve, I am learning something new everyday and really seeing it grow. I hope I get to interview even more amazing women this year and that I can reach even more people in 2020.

Pearl Lopian - EFT Tapping - How Tapping can help you at this time

Pearl Lopian - EFT Tapping - How Tapping can help you at this time

Pearl grew up in London and when she got married she moved to Manchester where she brought up her family.  Pearl worked in finance for a while but always wanted to work with wellbeing and the helping professions.   It was around the time approximately 12 years ago when she was studying  psychotherapy that she found  EFT Tapping Therapy or rather EFT Tapping Therapy found her !!  She knew then that was for her and so she made it her business to be the best Practitioner she could be.

Pearl also worked for nine years Camp Simcha UK which is an organisation that supports families with children with life threatening conditions.  She was the Manchester case worker and offered emotional and practical support to the parents.

Pearl made aliya with her husband  to Jerusalem in February 2017 and as she had been working so many hours in UK, she didn't quite take in the fact that she had left her comfortable and familiar life in Manchester and was embarking on something so new.

In her mind she was going to seamlessly continue working and continuing my lifestyle.

But she am not a person who dives into the unknown and thats what it felt like !!   Pearl walked into Ben Gurion airport and then it hit her and only then what had she done!!!  She was in the deep blue sea and she cant swim.  She actually found it quite hard at the beginning.

What was most familiar to her tho was her work, so that's where she put her energy.  Pearl saw clients privately, ran different tapping groups - for people who made aliya and found it stressful, for people wanting to lose weight, for people who wanted money and abundance.  She works online and in person. and then she found people wanted to be trained in these techniques so she became an accredited trainer just over a year ago so that she can train  others to work professionally.

Pearl is a workaholic but always has time for her family and in her spare time you can find  her playing cards and games with my grandchildren.

Amy Albertson - The Asian Israeli - Olim Online - Sharing to help others

Amy Albertson - The Asian Israeli - Olim Online - Sharing to help others

Meet Amy, aka @theasianisraeli. 5 years ago, this native Californian decided to become Israeli. Looking back on her life, no one would have guessed it. Coming from a mixed family, she had very limited exposure to Judiasm or the Jewish community. It wasn't until her second year in college that she truly started to explore her Jewish identity. And with the help of an Israeli shaliach, she discovered the love of her life, Israel. It was then that her life path began to point towards the Middle East. She started the Israel Advocacy group on her campus, became the President of her Hillel, and decided she wanted to work in Jewish non-profits. Upon making Aliyah she went to Ulpan Etzion in Jerusalem, quickly launching her career in marketing for Jewish nonprofits. Although she loved the spirituality and and meaning of Jerusalem, after 3.5 years she could no longer ignore the calling of the sea. She moved to Tel Aviv where she began working in hitech as a content manager.

As most love stories, Amy & Israel have a complicated relationship. You see, being both a paternal Jew, and and Asian-American in Israel, on top of being a lone-olah, comes with many challenges. Being a blogger from age 16 and an avid social media user, Amy decided to share it all by launching her Instagram account, @theasianisraeli. Michal Berman - Tel Aviv Art Studio - Helping Soldiers through Art Therapy

Michal Berman - Tel Aviv Art Studio - Helping Soldiers through Art Therapy

Michal Berman made alliyah from NY after finishing college, 8 years ago. She came to join the army as a lone soldier through garin tzabar, a program that lets you live with other lone soldiers. This was one of the most challenging and incredible decisions I made.
Following my two years service as a shooting instructor, Michal started her graduate program in art therapy in a means to help soldiers through art therapy. It was important for me to offer other types of therapies for people who might have a difficult time opening up.
After graduating she moved to Tel Aviv and joined forces with Natasha Miller Gutman and opened up a new location of Tel Aviv Art Studio. A studio that offers art classes for adults, children and teens, paint nights, birthday parties, figure drawing and art therapy.  Michal is proud to not only be a business owner, and doing something she loves but following her dreams and offering art therapy to soldiers.

This process has been so hard and incredible. It shaped who she is and just makes her what to connect with others and show them that they can do anything.

Deborah French - Cognitive Behavioural Therapist - Taking small steps to make big changes with CBT

Deborah French - Cognitive Behavioural Therapist - Taking small steps to make big changes with CBT

There are moments that occur in life that can change everything that follows. For a mother to hear that something is developmentally different about the children; that is one of those moments. Deborah French lived through this moment twice by the time she was 26 years old. During the birth of her second child, she discovered that her baby was born with Down’s syndrome. And then when her first child hit two years old, she was told he was on the autistic spectrum. Raising one child with special needs is a task fraught with challenge and takes a special parent.

After making Aliyah in 2007 with her family, now a mother of five children, Deborah and her husband established the Mazal L’Chayim program in schools in the Sharon region. It’s target to educate mainstream children about children with special needs; breaking down social barriers that exist, paving the way for acceptance and ultimately inclusion.

As a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist and published author by profession, Deborah incorporates the powerful tools of CBT into her now Nationally Award winning program to bring about meaningful change in perspective and a chance for introspection for every pupil she has taught. Deborah has educated over 1300 students, since opening in 2013.

Helena Baker - English Speaking Networking - Providing a space for businesses to grow through networking

Helena Baker - English Speaking Networking - Providing a space for businesses to grow through networking

Helena made Aaliyah in January 2019 from London and went straight to Ulpan Etzion in Jerusalem. She moved to Tel Aviv in June and continued my freelance content writing business, but found that there simply weren’t many fixed networking events that offered her a space to grow my business and network with likeminded individuals.

Which is why English Speaking Networking was formed – to offer a space for business owners and professionals looking to learn, grow and develop through regular networking. With her launch only in September we have close to ten members in Tel Aviv and will be opening a branch in Ramat Beit Shemesh in January.
