    Triplanetary - Part 8 (of 8)

This week sees the conclusion of 'Triplanetary.'  Humanity has developed a supership to see off the Nevian threat by using elements of Nevian technology, and sent it off deep into space.  Unexpectedly, the supership has travelled deep into space and encountered Roger, the space pirate we met at the start of this adventure, rebuilding his planetoid.  Meanwhile, our heroes Clio, Costigan and Bradley are captives on Nevia as zoo animals, but Clio and Bradley have been seized again.  Can they escape?  Can the supership stand up to Roger and the space pirates?  And will how will the situation between the Nevians and humanity conclude?

    Triplanetary - Part 7 (of 8)

We have reached the penultimate episode of 'Triplanetary', the opening of the seminal 'Lensman' saga.  We join the action on two fronts - Clio, Costigan and Bradley are frantically trying to escape the Nevians in a small craft.  Meanwhile, back on Earth, the Triplanetary service has been trying analyse Nevian technology, and are on the brink of launching their super ship.  But will it be enough to redress the balance?

Last time, our heroes managed to escape their captors, the Nevians, but they are still stuck on Nevia itself.  They are stranded on a spaceship with a damaged hull.  How will they escape?  And even if they can, what chance does humanity have against such an advanced species?

    Triplanetary - Part 5 (of 8)

Last week, our heroes finally met the Nevians, the utterly alien lizard-like race from far across the stars.  They are seeking iron, and won't let anything - not even the Triplanetary League - get in their way.  Costigan, Clio and Bradley are still set on escape, but how will they find a way out as they hurtle ever deeper into Nevian space?

Last week, there was a revelation.  A distant alien race, the Nevians, has made contact, with devastating consequences, putting the battles between the Triplanetary League and space pirates into perspective.  This week, we find out more about the new arrivals.  Will we find out what happened to our heroes,  Costigan, Clio and Captain Bradley, who were caught up in the sudden appearance of the Nevians?

#33 Mike Salbro 'Big Mike' | Growing Up Aboriginal In Sweden From The Stolen Generation

Visit The Website Where This Is Published🎙️: https://atlasgeographica.com/mike-salbro-aboriginal-in-sweden/

Big Mike Salbro is one of the last people forcibly taken from their mother’s arms as a member of the stolen generation.

Mike’s story is full of twists, turns, tragedies and inspiration. He was adopted at just a few months old from a lovely Swedish woman and shortly after moved to Stockholm. Mike, alongside his brother (also Aboriginal and adopted in Brisbane) then grew up in Sweden coming through Swedish schools and the entire Swedish system.

Mike has now returned to Australia. Brisbane specifically and now works as a social worker after going through his journey in the social system supporting young indigenous people of Australia.

This chat meant a lot to me. Big Mike is a legend. I hope you enjoy it the same. Spread it far and wide and leave positive reviews.

249 - H.P. Lovecraft, the Cthulhu Mythos, and the Horror You Love Today

249 - H.P. Lovecraft, the Cthulhu Mythos, and the Horror You Love Today

Hope you have as fun listening to this one as I had making it! I had no idea prior to digging into this topic, that Lovecraft was so influential on modern horror. Like Stranger Things? Heavily influenced by Lovecraft. Like Stephen King's It? The cosmic monster who presents as Pennywise is a creature who could have come directly from the Cthulhu mythos. Much of the Twilight Zone, the X-Files, the BBC's Black Mirror and more - so influenced by Lovecraft. And, in a way, fictional universes like the Marvel cinematic universe and George Lucas's Star Wars universe - influenced by the cosmic worldbuilding of Lovecraft. We feel a lot of his influence today - but who was the man? We'll take a look at that as well - including the ugly parts. And we'll meet some of his creatures and dissect the structure of some of Lovecraft's most influential stories. A very Weird Tales edition of Timesuck awaits!
