The Philippine Bible translation that took 66 years to complete

The Philippine Bible translation that took 66 years to complete

The Isnag people in Dibagat, Philippines, finally have the Bible fully translated into their heart language--a project that took 66 years. (More than 150 known languages are spoken in the Philippines.) Nard Pugyao, native Isnag speaker and a retired missionary pilot, joins to share the amazing story.

"For many years, the people of the Philippines were on the receiving end of mission work. But now they are on the sending side—the work of evangelism and discipleship belongs to the people of Dibagat, spreading the Gospel using the Isnag Bible,” said Dr. John Chestnut, president of Wycliffe Bible Translators in a recent op-ed about the translation.

    Miracles and Haunted Houses

    Miracles and Haunted Houses
This episode has it all, haunting grandmas, wild miracles, children or birds in the attic, and piano nightmares.

Britt starts us off with a story from friend of the podcast Lauren about her grandmother's house and how her spirit had stayed cleaning house and singing songs long after she passed away.

Alissa shares tales of impossibility with several stories of amazing miracles.

Britt heads over to Australia and brings her horrible accent with her as she tells of an experience with strange spookiness happening in the attic of a rental house.

She wraps up the podcast with a story of a pianist who encounters the spirit of a young girl in quite possibly the most terrifying way.

Ronald Blythe - an intimate little story from Bottengoms

Ronald Blythe - an intimate little story from Bottengoms

This is the story of the late British writer Ronald Blythe CBE, or more precisely what linked me to him. To me, he was simply Ronnie.

It is an intimate little story, spanning over the last 6 years of his life, when he was retired from public life. It is about his garden, the old brick floor of his house, his gentleness, his cat, his memories and above all, it is about our friendship.

This story is the result of my conversations with Ronnie. His voice, narrative and account were my only sources.

The sounds that you will hear have mostly been recorded at Bottengoms during the last 6 years.

He Who Shrank: A Journey Into The Quantum Realm (Unabridged Audiobook)

He Who Shrank: A Journey Into The Quantum Realm (Unabridged Audiobook)

This is my favorite episode I ever recorded, it was so much fun to record this. I cannot wait for you to fully experience it.

He Who Shrank is a science fiction novella by Henry Hasse, printed as the featured story in the August 1936 issue of Amazing Stories magazine. It is about a man who is forever shrinking through worlds nested within a universe with apparently endless levels of scale.

The greatest scientist the world has ever had has invented an extraordinary new means of exploring the world of the infinitely small, and sends his devoted assistant on a mind-boggling series of adventures exploring the infinite series of concentric universes contained within the most minute particle, thus providing the scope and scale of one of the most ambitious and wide-ranging and thought-provoking science-fiction stories ever.

Carl Sagan in 1978 wrote that the story "presents an entrancing cosmological speculation which is being seriously revived today"

We have often discussed the concept of a fractal universe, with atoms or subatomic particles of one scale corresponding to the stars of another scale.  But often times this idea gets lost in its complexity.

Do we exist as a microcosm of something greater?  What exists within the microcosm from us?

Let me take you on a fantastic journey into the quantum realm.

Mom and Unborn Child Left to Die: The Miracle

Mom and Unborn Child Left to Die: The Miracle

Entrepreneur Susanna Del Carmen explains how her mom’s near-death experience, while pregnant with her, made her believe it was a miracle she was born. And how this miracle inspired her lifelong commitment to help people thrive while living.

This episode was created and produced to help people gain a better understanding of how to recognize and take advantage of unexpected opportunities during moments of crisis.

    Santa '85 (w/ Scott & Anthony)

What's up, dudes? It's the Feast of St. NIcholas, and I'm joined by Scott Leopold from Holly Jolly X'masu and Anthony Caruso from 'Tis the Podcast to discuss the 1985 Spielbergian Amazing Stories episode "Santa '85"! It's got all the Santa tropes! Does he get arrested? Yep. Does he give a kid a ride in his sleigh? Check. Does he drop the present the antagonist always wanted as he's flying away? You betcha! It's tropey to the max! And there's rad '85 computer graphics! So grab your Buck Rogers ray gun, put on your camo, and bust this episode out of the joint!
