Hurdles of Getting Men to the Doctor

Hurdles of Getting Men to the Doctor

Let's talk about the hurdles of getting men to the doctor...

Why is it so hard to have men attend their much-needed doctor’s appointments?

Research shows that hundreds of thousands of men mostly die from cancer every single year, but Cleveland Clinic’s study says that only 3 out of 5 men actually go to their annual visit. 40% of men will only go to a doctor once they think the problem is already too serious to not care about. And even when they do visit, around 20-30% of them admitted to have not been honest, withholding important information from their attending physician.

This problem has been going on for who knows how long already, mostly because of men’s fear to get that diagnosis, and not only does it affect them, killing them fast and early, but those who are around them suffer from the hurdles, too.

So join Dr. Berry today as he talks about this issue, reminding men to take care of themselves if they want to live life better and longer.

In this episode, Dr. Berry discusses why it’s hard to get men to attend their doctor’s appointments, even just the annual visit, as he shares ways how those around men can help men take care of themselves in a better and more serious way.

Why you need to check out this episode:

    • Understand, from a man and a doctor’s perspective, why it’s not easy to have men meet their doctor for a health check appointment;
    • Discover why those who are around men shouldn’t take the entirety of the responsibility to take care of men; and
    • Find out how we can help men take their health in a serious manner without driving them to withhold information as they visit their doctor

“I say this all the time. When it’s about your health, you gotta leave that pride to the side. Pride needs to be set aside when we’re talking about healthcare.” -Dr. Berry Pierre

    Notable Quotes:

“Very often, the avoidance of care and the withholding of care are two of the biggest issues that are killing us. It’s not like it’s always hurting us. No, it’s killing us. We are dying sooner, we are dying younger because we either avoid the system, the diagnosis or if we get forced to the system, we’re like, I’m not gonna tell them 100% of the things I want to tell them because I know how Dr. Berry does… and all of a sudden, I have a bigger problem that I know of.” – Dr. Berry Pierre

    Annual Checkup Part 1

    Annual Checkup Part 1

Sometimes it's the simple things that make a difference in our healthcare.  Getting a regular check-up is part of what can keep small things that are easily treatable from turning into a more difficult problem down the line!  This episode is part one of two and will be discussing Oral/Dental Health.  We will cover general health questions in a few weeks.

Preventive dentistry is the practice of caring for your teeth to keep them healthy. This helps to avoid cavities, gum disease, enamel wear, and more.

There are many forms of preventive dentistry, such as daily brushing and dental cleanings. To maintain optimal oral health, the American Dental Association (ADA) recommends visits to the dentist at regular intervals determined by a dentist. These practices are designed to ensure that teeth are clean, strong, and white. Children should be taught proper oral hygiene at an early age. (Credits: https://bit.ly/3Qu5ku6 Healthline)

    Men's Health Month

    Men's Health Month

Let's talk about Men's Health Month

The month of June is "Men's Health Month". It is a national observance used to raise awareness about health care for men and focus on encouraging men, to practice and implement healthy living decisions.

Men suffer a lot of ill-related issues, whether it be due to cancer, ready to redo to just having shorter lifespans, whether it be due to the risk-taking activities that they partake in.

Men's life expectancy has been shorted in women's for almost two decades, and it is not changing anytime soon. And we're gonna talk about some of the reasons why. We're going to see a lot of focus on men's health-related concerns.

In today's episode, I am talking about Men's Health and its importance. Text LUNCHLEARNPOD to 44222 today or sign up at www.listentodrberry.com to join the mailing list.

    Time For Your Annual Checkup

    Time For Your Annual Checkup

Let's talk about Time For Your Annual Check-up…

One of the many interruptions that COVID-19 has caused over the year is the annual check-up.

A recent Time Magazine Poll noted that 78% of people responded with postponing at least one medical service with over 27% reporting that they had skipped out on their annual check-ups.

These are some disheartening facts especially knowing that many people simply won't just pick up & remember to go back for their visit. What starts out being a month, turns into 3 months, which then turns into a year and the number of diseases that can be missed over that time should frighten everyone.

In today's episode, I am going to talk about the annual check-up and why it so important.
