AQI.  That is short for Air Quality Index and it measures the quality of the air you breathe in your community.  With the haze, smoke, and fine particles now in the air across much of the United States as a result of wildfires to the north, here is what you need to know in order to stay safe.

The air quality in Delhi continued to remain in the ‘very poor’ category on Tuesday as the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of the city stood at 359. Noida, which is part of the national capital region, recorded an AQI of 444 and slipped from ‘very poor’ to ‘severe’ category, while Gurugram's AQI stood at 391 and continued to remain in the ‘very poor’ category, as per data released by SAFAR-India.

He is the city lead on Love My Air Denver, one of the 2018 Bloomberg Mayors Challenge winning ideas. Love My Air involves deployment of low-cost air sensors at public schools along with real time data dashboards, education, and programming, to reduce the long-term health and economic impacts from exposure to poor air quality.

A new report from air technology company IQAir concludes that despite an 11% reduction in PM2.5 levels, India emerged as the world's third-most polluted country. India's air quality has serious ramifications for both public health and the economy at large. Shambhavi Naik and Sunila Dixit discuss the findings of the report and India's existing policies for curbing air pollution.
