Do loved ones send messages from beyond the grave?

Do loved ones send messages from beyond the grave?

Clarissa Moll posted something on Instagram that has us thinking. She said, "...there is no secret language that transcends death. Death isn’t like summer camp; your person can’t send postcards back home." What do you think? Later, it's the parable of the overstepping elder, a cringey moment from Aubrey's weekend, and via Buzzfeed, cringeworthy things we've somehow normalized.

University presidents are claiming free speech, but we're not buying it.

Brian and Aubrey are shocked at how close Christmas is. Then, remember our conversation last week about the university presidents who couldn't quite answer questions about free speech in that congressional hearing? One of them has already stepped down, and the president of Harvard is being defended by faculty while she faces similar criticism. Then, Brian & Aubrey are reflecting on the mission of Food for the Poor, reacting to the Time Person of the Year news (and follow-up news), and an upcoming Rob Reiner Documentary on Christian Nationalism Featur[ing] Interviews With Prominent Evangelicals.

Demystifying evil, with Northern Seminary professor Ingrid Faro

Demystifying evil, with Northern Seminary professor Ingrid Faro

Ingrid Faro says she was deconstructing before it became a term–which is when God sent her to seminary to get answers.

"Most people don’t have a clear concept or definition of evil," Ingrid says. "We’ve generally avoided talking about evil or suffering. Therefore, we’re easily confused or conflicted when it slaps us in the face. But God wants us to discern good from evil, and to learn the different ways evil gains access into our lives, both through natural means and through malevolent spiritual forces."

Ingrid's new book, "Demystifying Evil: A Biblical and Personal Exploration," is available now for preorders.

Alistair Begg on The Common Good

Alistair Begg on The Common Good

What does genuine Christian living look like in the 21st century, and how can we be motivated to live that way?
The answer comes from Jesus’ sermon in Luke 6 (sometimes known as the Sermon on the Plain), which starts, “Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the
kingdom of God,” and goes on to lay out God’s vision statement for the Christian life. It is a manifesto that has nothing to do with politics, culture or personality, but rather God’s intentions for his people.

Bible teacher and radio voice Alistair Begg unpacks this sermon, encouraging Christians to live a radically different life that upends the world’s values and philosophies. It’s a lifestyle that is counterintuitive and countercultural, yet one that God blesses with true meaning and impact.
